Chapter 5: Chapter 5: The beginning.

[breaking news!!!….the man who was said to be the future CEO of the next Ruxnard healing center is in fact found dead! before the very building. Some people say. they saw the man, dangling out the window before his eventual fall. Was it a suicide attempt, or was it a murder? Follow the IN news for ….]

The screen was shut off right away. Only leaving a dark panel on the theater size screen. The man who shut off the news, stayed still, his one hand on his forehead, as his other hand, kept tapping the glass desk.

Tap! Tap! Tap! Tap! ….

Only the sound of his finger tap echoed within the dark hall room. As the other four men and women, beside him waited patiently. He rubbed his eyes from the stress he was feeling, eventually glaring at the head maid and a lean boy, standing before them.

"so…tell me, Perl. What happened there?" the man asked, his voice rough like an old man.

"We hope that the answer won't be so disappointing as you are right now." A woman said, her image covered by the darkness, like the other four behind the arched deck.

"ahem…" The maid coughed, walking forward to the known elders of house Ruxnard. Even though the viscount and his mistress were the heads. The council of the elders was the ones to carry out their order.

Handling most of everything of the many businesses, tax collection, land management, and many more.

So even though, she was the head maid of the house Ruxnard. She had to answer to them before she could say anything to the viscount family, following the stance of hierarchy.

She laid a bunch of papers before them, giving everyone a copy of the documents to read.

"…and these are?" one of the elders asked.

Perl backed away, giving them a bow before she spoke. "I give my wishful thanks to the council for giving me this opportunity….ahem… These are the documents related to Rudd mustang. Showing his many atrocities towards the Ruxnard family.

I didn't expect a loyal man like him to do such a thing but, who would have thought. He was waiting for this opportunity to take me out for good. Knowing that he would be the head after me."

The dark senile shadows put their glasses on, as it beamed a blue light, scanning the many documents. Some kept reading, some kept quiet like it was only a chore. but the one in the middle among the five was gazing at the boy behind the maid. He didn't know what, he didn't know why, but his years of experience told him something wasn't right about the child.

'…..am I growing too senile, having suspicion from a child slave?' he thought, leaving his glare be. "…..yes, the documents prove of his treachery, using the money from the family to indulge in….disturbing issues." He said. "but this doesn't prove his death, where is the record, where is the video of him trying to murder you?" he asked.

The four others also judged the same, nodding with his questions.

The maid smiled, knowing everything was going well. She herself had used the money for their own reasons but with her connections, she lamented all of it to him. If he was alive, he could deny her claims but the dead don't talk, do they?

She swayed her hands to the boy behind her. Calling him upfront. "He used this boy. a former slave of the house as bait. Telling me he holds some content that might jeopardize the family name, as …ahem....everyone knows how our master...ahem… loves to be indulged."

The elders also coughed, trying to deny what she just said but she knew, they knew. Everyone who had some contact with the viscount knew. He had his unique taste for indulgence. But this was a topic of taboo, among the family and its servants. Not letting a single word out. If someone even tried to release the info. He or she would be terminated by any means necessary. Destroying anyone related to ashes with them.

"continue…" one of the elders said.

The maid nodded. "….the idiot I, also thought the same and went to neutralize the boy in the hospital. As many of you would judge my actions as right. But he paneled behind me when I was asking questions. Using his heat magic to attack my heart.

But the boy beside me, naïve as he was from day one, decided to save me, not knowing the situation he was in. and with the help of the boy who had some skills, we both took him out, eventually throwing him out the window.

I am indeed very sorry, the foolish me fell for such trickery and had to jeopardize the family name." she said, with her soft tongue. Bowing full nighty degrees to the elders before her.

Kraner didn't want to bow before the old senile humans but he had to do so. As he was the one who came up with half the plan and from his future plans. He needed to get used to it.

'….until then… let's be patient' He thought, bowing his head like her.

The room was again quiet. The five people, gazing at her elegant bow.

" The council will decide your charges after. you may leave." The one in the middle said.

A bright light came from their back, as a door opened for them to exit. And they did so, going out from the hall of the council. Not knowing what the outcome would be.

Thud!

"Are you sure? It's going to go as you planned?" Kraner asked.

Perl couldn't help but grit her teeth. She did so much for them to look guilty. Taking out every dirt that the useless butler had. And jeopardizing the many contacts, she made with Rudd. All for her to get judged by the scrawny little boy beside him. But she could only stay shut. As she already lied enough. And even the boy said the truth. She would still fall. And this world wasn't kind to those who would fall from great heights.

'I will handle him when I get the chance.'

"Yeah, don't worry. I know somebody within the council. So no biggie ." she said, her fake smile, evident to show the boy how annoying he was.

.

.

Inside the hall of the council.

"her tongue is sharp as usual…" one of the elders said. Leaning back on his comfy chair.

"well, should we just sit and take her lies as usual." Said an elder, folding his arms.

"Sir Arthur already knows, such people are required in our field. Don't you say?" the only elder woman said.

"oh..oh, the cat comes out of the box, huh, lady Tanya. Afraid, we would nip one of your pawns?" asked the same man, his hands still folded.

He could feel the imminent glare right after, as the room turn cold from her icy blue eyes. but the man name Arthur didn't flinch. His glare, flaring the room to its normal temperature.

"stop both of you!" shouted the man in the middle. "haaa….Arthur, do you really have to create a ruckus after every meeting?" The old man asked. His speech alone, lifting the room from the essence of fire and ice.

"and you, lady Tanya. Keep a better eye on your own people. There is zero evidence to prove her guilt as of now. But if another meeting of the council has to occur again, because of your people….I won't be showing any mercy..."

The words were simple, soft, and even sounded senile to a point, but the two elders couldn't help but shiver. Shutting their mouth right after. Forcing them to gradually look down in shame.

"I don't hear a yes?" asked the man.

""y.yes!"" replied both of them right away.

With a sign, the old man stood up, placing his top hat on his white withering hair, in his hands, many spellbooks, and the bible of the emperor god.

"ok…the council is now dismissed; I hope everyone would have a great day."

Everyone nodded, standing upright after him. "have a great day, senior." All of the bellowed. Following the same ritual as always. As all of them gave a small bow to the old man.

The man was now out of the hall, walking into an elevator to his office. He had more work, so much so, he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep much like usual. He turned to the view the outside as half the elevator was made from garnet glass.

"The view is great as always," he said, watching the wide mansion of the house Ruxnard. As he kept going high and high above. He could eventually see everything. The massive and architecturally stunning mansion of house Ruxnard. With a wide garden of many striking statues separating it from the many other sky-scraper buildings.

But he couldn't help but glare back at the top room of the Ruxnard mansion. As it was the room of their master.

The burning flames in his eyes slowly falling down from hope. "at this rate…..haaaa" he couldn't help but sign. He didn't want to compare the talent between the father and son but. The gap was indeed very large.

He didn't want to think deeper about the issue, straining his gaze to the main guests of today's council meeting. The blond snake, known for her tongue, and the new slave servant. Both of them, gradually walking towards the Ruxnard mansion. They were notably distant, but his enchanted eyes were enough for him to see even the soft footprints they left behind.

"that boy….I will keep a close eye on him." He said, as his elevator finally stopped, reaching his main office.

.

.

.

"haaa…..Lady Tanya is going to eat my ears later." Perl said with a sign. "but I am curious…?" she asked, looking back at the scrawny child beside her.

"…what?" he replied, a bit irritated from her slithering gaze.

"why?....why did you decide to come back to this hell hole. When you could have just left, asking me some money." She asked, genuinely curious about his actions.

Even now she remembered the moment when he asked to work back in the mansion. The same place, where all the workers bullied him to a point where he was even ready to commit suicide.

Kraner only sighed, glaring back at her. But he said nothing. Walking a bit forward. Trying to ignore her shenanigans.

Watching his back, and his ignorance, she contracted her eyes. irritated from his egotism. "what!? You think others would stop their harassment just because I stopped so. Don't be naïve. You just committed the biggest mistake of your life…. You will only fall and fall in despair, as you turn to your former pitiful self."

'and don't mind me joining hands, as I have plenty grievance with you...' she thought in vengeance. Watching him enter the mansion from the servant's gate. But he stopped his pace, looking back at her.

"everything's going to change, my dear Perl. And for your annoying question…. I like shrouding myself with enemies, as it means I am going the right way…"

Thud!

Listening to the thud of the closing door. She was still dazed by his choice of words... She had thought the boy had changed from the trauma but... "no, he is now an entirely new person, and a dangerous one at that..….wait why did I let him go before me?" she thought, quickly walking to the door.
