Chapter 3: Hidden Ability
"System?"
I immediately opened my eyes when I heard an emotionless female voice speaking to me.
"Hello?". I looked around the room, but there was no one besides me.
The room was mostly empty apart from the brown couch, some unopened boxes, and a telescope in the window. The sun is rising…
[Summer system activated successfully]
"Summer system?" I heard that voice in my head again, I didn't know what it meant, my mind was a total mess. My rationality, which would have told me it's crazy and just forget it, was not present today.
"Status!". I said out loud like crazy, status is what I always used to see my stats in computer games. I must be crazy.

"I must be hallucinating." I think the things I've been through have affected my head more than I thought.
But I'm not someone who thinks things through a lot.
"It's stats like in those computer games, but I don't understand power levels." Stare at the HUD panel, or user panel which has a very realistic quality and 3D image of me.
On the floating screen that moved along with my gaze I looked exactly the same, even though I'm 17, I'm only 170cm tall, which is short for an American. I have thick brown hair parted in the middle, the sides of my head were shaved. Green eyes. ordinary face Short white shirt, orange shorts and green shoes.
I stared at the stats next to my 3D image on the HUD for a couple of seconds.

[Power levels 1 to 10: 1 is the basics that every boy or girl has and 10 is the maximum limit that a human can reach. For each level gained, the basic attribute increases twice each time]
[Strength: It is the physical capacity to be able to lift weight]
I touched my bony, muscleless arms and knew this Summer System was right. Although it infuriated me to be so weak.
[Speed: It is the ability to react to different situations and speed of movement]
My father always told me that he was slow to react and at school he tired me out very quickly, maybe that's why.
[Voice: Ability to persuade a person by speaking and beauty when singing songs or intonations]
I say what I think before talking to someone and when I sing I sound like a wolf howling at the moon. That 1 is understandable, although I would like to be able to increase it to see if I can do better.
[Intelligence: The brain's ability to receive, process, and store information.]
I always play a lot of video games, maybe that helps my brain to process information faster and although I'm not stupid at least I can get through the year in high school.

I have no idea what this mental force he's talking about could be, plus he doesn't give me any information. It doesn't matter, what's mine I'll get my hands on eventually, it's not like I can unlock this skill now. I'm curious why it says ability granted at birth though, as if it wasn't the Summer System that gave it to me.
But the most important question is, where are the main features of a system like in my games?
Maybe I should say them out loud?
"Inventory". I blush with embarrassment saying it out loud, now that I'm awake what I'm doing is crazy. But with the screen I'm seeing in front of me I can only try.
A lot of expectations grow in me.

The same emotionless female voice spoke in my head. In front of me the HUD screen changed, although it was blue before, now it is darker like a black hole.
Will it be the same?
I couldn't help being curious, so I grabbed $20 from the nightstand next to my bed and brought it in front of the black hole HUD.
[US money: 20]
The hole sucked in my money and white lines formed many small squares, all linked together. Inside the first square at the top left was an image of a US$100 bill and below it was the number 20.
"Cool!". I'm really excited, this Summer System is real and only I can use it. I don't think there is anyone else according to normal logic. Or if there is? It doesn't matter anyway, I have a system for myself.
"I don't know who you are but thanks for giving me this Summer System." My father always taught me to thank those who do you a favor or treat you kindly.
"Dad". A couple of tears escaped from my eyes thinking that I will never be able to see him again.
"I should change". My life was always boring and I have never done what I wanted or made an effort to achieve something. With this second opportunity, I am going to take advantage of it on behalf of my parents who are resting eternally and will not want to see me sad and depressed.
"Father, Mother, swore to be happy and I will never forget them." I promised myself resolutely, if I look at myself in a mirror I think my eyes sparkled.
Could it be that maybe my life will change for the better from now on?
