Chapter 2: I AM MY BROTHER

I didn't say anything Infront of Dad when we got home but when I got to my room with Mom, I couldn't hold it in anymore.
"Is Dad doing drugs ?"
"Kate, how could you say such a thing about your father ?!"
"He wants me to be my brother ? That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Regardless of the fact that I would be an imposter , I don't know anything about business. putting me up as the chairman would mean epic fail for the company. Isn't he seeing that ?"
"Kate ,calm down "
Frustrated ,I went towards the mirror and touched my hair. I can't believe it was all gone now.
"I'm sure your father just said that in the spur of the moment, I'll talk to him "
Maybe there was still hope. Surprisingly, Dad listens to Mom .
"There's nothing to talk about" Dad said entering my room" You , get prepared for the chairman appointment meeting tomorrow. Why are you even complaining? You are finally going to be useful in this house. Shouldn't you be actually thanking me ?"
"Honey !!"
"You've always wanted what your brother had , didn't you ? That's why you hurt his leg 25 years ago to stop him from going to school so you could go first and now this ! Aren't you tired of being a bad luck ?! You are going to that meeting tomorrow and that's final "
Dad left my room and Mom followed suite.
I looked around me and blinked my eyes plenty times trying to keep the tears from falling but they came anyways .
That night ,I wished I had died instead of Nate.
The following morning as I walked into DELORE INC, I hoped everything would go well but I guess I was truly badluck because a very angry woman walked up to me and slapped me .
What the hell???
"You rascal " she cursed "So was that why you broke up with me ? Because you came from a rich family? Did you think I was some sort of gold digger, Nate ?"
Ah,I get it.
This was another one of my brother's problem and I was the one getting the punishment for it .
Typical.
But surely if I was acting as Nate from now , I'm sure Dad won't sit around and watch someone hit his son.
But Dad had slapped me .
"Why are you quiet? Apologize!"
What was I expecting?
"Sor-"
"That's enough,I don't want to see your face ever again . Ugh" .
I clenched my fist and watched as the woman walked away .
We continued our way up to the meeting room. All the 16 board members were already seated .
"You are late " Mr An complained.
He was the head of the accounting department. He hates Nate's gut because he and his daughter were supposed to get married but - I'm just going to stop here, thinking of all the things Nate has done wrong gives me headache- but I'm sure Mr An will go out of his way to make sure Nate doesn't get appointed today and that is the only saving grace I'm looking up to , today .
"We apologize. we encountered an issue on our way up here " Dad said and we got seated.
"So , let's cut to the chase . How many of you here are against Nate's appointment as chairman? "
I saw many hands up and bit my lips to suppress my smile.
The heavens were on my side today .
"That's too bad " Dad said folding his hands and looking at all the members as if they had just committed treason"This is my company and it's only things I say that stand "

"You better not mess this up " Dad said when we were in my office.
Bad news ..I became chairman .
You might think I'm over exaggerating but try being a chairman of a big company and having no clue what to do or how to run the company.
Nate had studied business so it only made sense he'd run the company despite him being the only " male" heir and Dad's favorite but I studied fashion designing.
Nothing I know or had studied would add up to what I'm to do with this company and I know that when things start turning up for the worse , Dad is just going to talk about how " I'm badluck, can't do anything right blah blah blah"
"Answer me !"
"Ah, sorry. Yes , father. I won't mess it up. You can trust me ".
Dad looked at me with discontempt" You would be sent a bodyguard and an assistant later in the day " and he left the office.
After Dad left , I let out a huge sigh that I didn't know I was holding .
I quickly booted on the system and searched ; how to run a company.
The door opened and I looked up thinking it was Dad but it was Mr An so I proceeded with my search.
"You look good on that seat " Mr An said " but don't get too comfortable there , Nate "
"Yeah, yeah. Thank you for the warm welcome . As you can see I'm quite busy so if you are done " I looked up from the desktop and gestured to the door .
Mr An laughed "Being chairman has made you cheeky , huh ? Don't forget I'm watching you , you little brat. Just because you studied business abroad doesn't mean you can do a good job running the company. Frankly speaking, your twin sister could do a better job than you but too bad she's dead "
Oh that's right, I forgot to tell you guys something earlier . After that news of the Nate's plane crash people did believe it was Nate that died but you know how parents would be called to check the dead body of their child to confirm who it was ....yeah, you could guess what happened.
They confirmed it was me and not Nate .
Apparently, I went abroad and ...I'll stop here, thinking about it gives me headache.
I scoffed "You really think my sister would have done a better job than me?"
"Of course. Everyone here knows you are chairman because your dad favors you more . We are watching you. One mistake and you are done for"
"Mr An .If this Is about me rejecting Trisha, then keep your emotion . We are at work not a playground. You said you were watching me to make a mistake?" I smirked "Then watch me closely"
