Okay, this was intense. I didn't know where to concentrate. The face lying at my feet or the
killer who seemed not at all friendly. He stepped towards me, for some
reason he was coming towards me slowly and carefully. Almost tiptoe,
ready to pounce anytime. I intuitively stepped back, what do I do. I
frantically looked here and there. I saw the sword of the guard in his
sheath. Without thinking anything as if by instinct I quickly took it
out and took a stance. What the hell! I found myself to be in a weird
stance. So, seems like I know some sword fighting. Who was I in the
past?
The killer was now on high alert. His smug smile was gone.
"You, who are you?" he asked. What does that have to do with this situation, I thought.
"What sword style is that?" He said and then as if for the first time he looked at my face.
His gaze ran over the red markings at my face.
"Well whatever, you're gonna die but who cares." He suddenly assumed a stance with his legs
wide and his sword high at eye level besides his face, and then without
any warning he charged with amazing speed at me. Ah! I am dead now, I
thought to myself but then instinctively my hands moved in an effortless
but powerful motion. My sword moved beautifully in a powerful circular
motion parrying his sword and also using his momentum against him as he
stumbled behind me. I turned back to face him but my mind was occupied
with amazement at the move I just pulled off, and then my mind came in
focus.
To my horror I saw that I had cut his whole arm off his body cleanly. The feeling off cutting off
a live arm made me sick. The killer grabbed the wound tightly, trying
to stop the bleeding and in pain fell down with his back onto the wall.
"All of you, freeze." A shouting voice came as a guard came in running. He quickly looked all
over the place taking all the information in. He crouched down at the
killer and looked at his face carefully and said "Are you the child
trafficker, I repeat are you the wanted criminal.". The attacker laughed
at him and then winced in pain. He looked at the body of the dead guard
and then his gaze shifted at me. He laughed again and then started
talking to me as if the guard in front of him asking questions didn't
exist at all.
"Didn't think all this stuff would happen when I killed him."He winked at me. Whatever
expressions he was trying to make were mixed with pain and maybe hate or
so I thought.
"Stop trying to act so cool, Paul." Came a voice out of nowhere. Suddenly a person jumped down
from somewhere above, right in front of me! Surprised at everything
happening, my tired mind gave up and I couldn't understand what was
going on at all. The guard suddenly stood up erect and saluted,
"Greetings to the captain of SAT squad. I'm soldier number 89 from general police on patrol."
"Yeah, yeah. Cut the crap." He waved his hand in the air as if swatting a fly. This guy
looked kind of bulky and had natural gray hair. His height was well
above normal and he was carrying himself with great confidence. He
looked to be around late thirties.
The captain walked towards the criminal, stepping over the body of the guard. He didn't pay
any attention to the headless guard at all.
"Took a lot of time to catch you, Paul."
"Well,it wasn't you who caught me"
"Ah yes. That's right." The captain was looked towards me for the first time.
"Ah, noble stranger. I guess I should thank you for your great contribution to the society. You
will be rewarded generously." Saying this he extended his hand like the
policeman earlier.
I too extended my hand and shook his, but he didn't let go. Suddenly with a powerful pull he
came close to me and his voice suddenly became really serious and
deadly.
"Seriously stranger, who the hell are you?"
Confused and surprised I replied "Huh?"
"That wasn't some normal swordsmanship you see in back alleys. You literally parried and chopped
off his arm in one same motion. That isn't something your average Joe
can do now is it."
"Ah, hahaha... haha... ha..." I tried to laugh but couldn't. Hell, I was nervous. This guy was
dangerous, I could feel it. He was dangerous.
"Also, did I tell you that your swordsmanship doesn't exist anywhere? Trust me, I have
traveled a lot and I haven't seen that swordsmanship anywhere."
He looked hard at me, watching my every move, every twitch of my muscle and then suddenly he
broke into a smile and all the tension ceased. And then happily he
looked at me and said
"Do you have a job?"
'Uh, no why?"
"Well, I made this new anti-terrorist division called SAT and guess what? There's a place vacant for you. Wanna join?"
