Louis looked at Edith and asked," Edie, Grandma Suzie is your stepmother ?,".
Edith looked at him and then at Suzie, she smiled sweetly and said," Yes, she is,".
Louis looked at Suzie and then at Edith and asked in a confused tone," Huh ? But Grandma Suzie is so nice, how can she be a stepmother?,".
Edith frowned at his words and asked," What do you mean Louis ?,".
This time Maria said,'' Pretty Ed, brother is saying that Grandma Suzie is so sweet, but stepmothers are bad witches, who beat childrens, then how can she be a stepmother,".
Edith looked at everyone with a shocked expression and said," Huh ? What ?,".
Ethan also frowned and sat down with them on the ground and asked Maria and Louis," Who told you this ? Who said stepmothers are bad witches ?,".
Maria said," In Cinderella's story, Cinderella's stepmother was a bad witch and Noah's stepmother was also a bad witch. She beat him and didn't give him food,".
Edith looked at Leo and asked," Is there any new story about this boy Noah ?,".
Leo shrugged his shoulders and said," I don't know, Never heard about it,".
Edith then looked at Maria and Louis and asked," Who is Noah ?,".
Louis looked at her and said," Noah is my friend, his father got married to another woman as his mother left them, but her stepmother is a bad witch,".
Ethan rubbed his temple as it was already paining, Edith frowned and said," Oh, I see, but It's not true, not every stepmother is a bad witch, some are also god witches, just like your Grandma Suzie,".
Suzie frowned and said," Ed ? Am I a Witch ?,".
Edith and others chuckled and Edith said," Good Witch mom, understand na, I have to explain in a way they will understand,".
Suzie nodded while Maria asked with curious eyes," Good Witches ? Who are they ? Are they angles ? Stepmother can be angels ?,".
Edith sat properly and said," No, Good Witches are not angels, Good Witches are those who do magic for good purpose, but they also punishes bad people with their magic but angels never punish anyone they are just too good, and Good stepmother loves their kids and punishes those who hurt her children just like how your Grandma Suzie does when someone hurt me and Leo,Kids do you know the meaning of stepmother?,".
Maria and Louis shook their heads and said in unison," No,".
Edith smiled and said," Let me tell you, Stepmothers are those who took a step up to be your mother and protect you from the bad people when your real mother becomes a star or go on a secret mission, when your Grandma Jane become a star she send your Grandma Suzie to become my mother and protect me from bad peoples, and you know what being a Good Witch is better that Being an angel, so never be an angel and always be a Good Witch and punish bad people, you know everyone here is a Good Witch, well all have punished someone in our lives, even today I punished one bad man, so kids not every stepmother is a bad witch,".
James laughed and said," Yeah she really punished someone today,".
Louis looked at Edith and said," So you are also a Good Witch, so will you punish Noah's stepmother, she is a bad witch , she beats him, and doesn't even give lunch,".
Edith's smile faded and she said," I promise I will, I don't need to, Leo will take care of this, right Leo?,".
Leo hesitates and asks," Me? Why ?,".
Edith said lazily," Because I don't want to , It's boring to handle bad witches, and I'm going to Chicago tomorrow,".
Suddenly Everyone stared at her as if she had thrown a boom at them, Grandpa William frowned and said," You are going where?,".
"Chicago," came a simple reply from Edith.
Grandpa William said in an angry voice," Why? And why are you telling us now?, and when will you return?".
Edith looked at him and said," Don't get angry Old man, I'm sorry, but it was not planned, something urgent came up, that's why I have to leave for a week, I will come back after a week,".
" A week, but you just came back, and we have to tell you something, and you are leaving on such short notice, Edith Woods, you are not going anywhere,".
Edith looked at William in shock because her grandpa never say her full name until and unless he is very angry, she gulped nervously and said," Grandpa, calm down , don't scare me, you can tell me what you wanna tell its not like I'm going right now, it's an emergency, I have leave tomorrow,".
Grandpa scoffed and said," Leave it, I will tell you when we will have dinner, and you have to agree to me or else you are not going anywhere,".
Edith frowned and thought," Old man you are scaring me now, what do you want from me?," but she didn't say that out loud and just said," I won't promise anything, but let's see, and please don't scold me now,".
Maria also looked at William and said," Great-grandpa Don't scold Pretty Ed,".
Grandpa William looked at both of them and mumbled," Already become one team," But he didn't do anything and turned around and ignored them.
Edith looked at his back helplessly and turned around towards Maria and stood up from the ground and said," Thanks cutie, you both enjoy. I'll just come in a few minutes, I have to look for my dogs and freshen up,". After that she touched their head lovingly and turned around to leave.
But before she could do that, Louis grabbed her hand and said with a longing eyes," Edie, will you become our mom, you said you are a Good Witch and you punish bad people, you even said that you will help Noah and punish his bad stepmom, You found our mom on the sky and I and Maria like you, you are very nice and beautiful just like my mom,".
Maria looked at his brother and then at Edith she also grabbed her other hand tightly and said," Yes , yes , pretty Ed, you also look like my mom, she sent you from the sky to become our mom, just like Grandma Jane sent Grandma Suzie,".
*Silence*
Ethan stood up in shock while Edith just stared at the kids with wide eyes, she was trying to process what just happened.
Lana walked towards James and Alice in a hurry and said," What the hell ? Are they involved in our plan?,".
Alice said," No, they both didn't even know why we all are here? They did this on their own,".
James looked at them and said," Shit man,".
While they were talking , Edith and Ethan were staring at both kids, Edith smiled awkwardly and said," Uhm ! you got it wrong kids, I can't be your mother, for that I have to marry your father that I can't, I'm sorry but I can only be your friend,".
Ethan looked at his kids sternly and said," Yes, I can't marry her, and I don't want to repeat myself, go and play and don't disturb her,". He was really angry but he was more shocked because Maria and Louis had never asked anyone to be their mom, then why now, what's so special about Edith.
Maria and Louis got sacred when they heard his angry voice, subconsciously they leave Edith's hand and took a step back, their eyes were already red they both looked at Ethan and said in unison," Sorry," then Maria again said," But daddy, I want pretty Ed as my mommy, she is very nice,".
Ethan stare at their faces and when he saw tears in their eyes he stopped himself from scolding them, he didn't know what just happened that his kids suddenly wanted a mother, he decide to talk to them politely but just as he tried to say something he saw Edith talking to him," Don't scold them, they are just kids , let me talk to them,".
After that Edith kneeled down again and said with a tired face," You kids are making me do sit up again and again but its fine I did take a intake of sugar to much, it's important to burn calories, come here and don't cry I don't like seeing you cry like this," after that she wiped their tears one by one and kissed their forehead and said," Kids, becoming a mother is not easy and for that I have to marry your father and that's not possible, Grandpa Robin got married to your Grandma Suzie because they love each other but your father and I don't love each other, your father loves your Mommy," before she could continue Louis said," You also love someone?,".
Edith stared at his face when she heard his question and a face flashed in front of her eyes and her smile faded instantly but she covered it with a fake one but the pain in her eyes was obvious, she touched Louis cheek and said," No,".
Maria's eyes sparkled and she said," Then marry daddy, he is very nice and handsome. I know you will love him, everyone loves him, he will also love you because you are the best,".
Ethan really wanted to hit his head somewhere when he heard this, Edith took a deep breath and said," No, I can't love him, he is too old for me and I like younger guys,".
Ethan frowned and his face darkened when he heard her, while everyone was dumbfounded by her words, Robin held his head and whispered to Suzie," What the hell, she is so sure that she will not marry him, what will happen now?,".
Suzie said," Explosion, Dad and Edith have the same temperament and personality, they are so stubborn I know no will back down and in this we will be dead, I knew this was not a good idea,".
Robin looked at his father whose expression was full of worry so he just shrugged his shoulder, meanwhile Maria and Louis looked each other as if thinking something but Edith interrupted them while she stood up and said," Don't think much and don't get sad, I will just go and come back in few minutes," after that she walked past them without wasting a second, she knew if she stayed a little longer then she won't be able to argue with these cute buns.
Just as Edith left, both the kids ran towards their grandfather Lucas while everyone got busy in their own world. Ethan looked towards the area where Edith just left; he also turned around and silently walked behind her. Just as he reached the end of the garden he saw Edith sitting alone on a bench while she had a cigarette between her fingers and she was lost in her own world and from her lost expression and teary eyes, he could tell something was wrong with her, she was not crying but still he can sense the sadness around her.
He hesitated for a while but thinking about something he walked towards her and took a seat beside her and snatched a cigarette from her finger and said," I thought you were a doctor,".
Edith frowned when she saw him and composed herself and looked at the cigarette which he just snatched from her and said calmly," Any doubt?,".
Ethan looked at her keenly and said,'' No but I have never seen a doctor smoking,".
Edith scoffed sarcastically and said," You really need to come out of your comfort zone then Mr. Smith and see the real world,''.
Ethan ignored her remark and said," Smoking can be very dangerous for your health, it can..," before he could continue Edith interrupted him.
Edith looked at him and said," You don't need to tell me, I know what can happen, it can cause cancer, heart diseases, strokes, lungs diseases, diabetes, COPD etc, I'm a doctor for god sake, and by the way I don't smoke frequently, it's just a habit whenever I'm stressed or sad,".
Ethan stared at her and said," I'm Sorry,".
