Chapter 30: Finding a sword (2)

'Dark Elf'

My pulse was quickening. This is the first time I've seen a race other than humans.

Even though they looked young on the outside you can't say the same thing about their age. The usual lifespan of elves would be around 300 to 500 years. That is at least 3 to 5 times that of humans. The same goes for the dwarves and orcs. All of them have a higher lifespan than that of humans.

The elves are widely famous among magicians. If they have the opportunity to learn magic from the elves, it would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Even the elven warriors are also famous.

The Black market is well-known for this, as it attracts people of various races who come to sell their wares. I mean, illegally, to be precise. They are traitors not only among humans but also among other races. It's no surprise, then, that the black market is brimming with people of various races.

With the exception of demons, that is.

There are exceptions, such as villains, but genuine demons are a different matter entirely. In this case, The Union had already drawn a red line in this issue. Even the black market kingpin is not fond of them. Keeping the demons out is therefore in everyone's best interests.

Sigh.

After a brief stop, I walked toward her.

Then she leaned her face and body close to me. I suppressed my raging heartbeat.

There's no doubt. She is seducing me. Her seductive figure can drive any man wild. Here figure could allure anyone to have aphrodisiac thoughts in their mind. No men can stand this ample structure that is seducing them.

In the midst of this, her blue eyes stood out the most. She is brazen.

I need to be careful.

I got my thoughts straight.

"Is this your first time here?" She asked.

"What about it?" Is it that evident while looking at me? I need to play it cool.

"It's my first time seeing you here but your eyes didn't seem so. It's as if you returned to a familiar place." She said.

What? Is it that evident? I need to do something about this.

"Don't mind me. Just think of me as a passing customer." Just leave me alone.

"How sniffy. So, what are you looking for? I usually sell all kinds of stuff. Maybe you should take a look who knows you can find what you're looking for."

Then she whispered in my ears.

"Maybe you even get a discount. What do you say?"

What's the matter with her?

Her breath is brushing against my neck. I could feel her soft cushions brushing against my skin. It was causing me to lose my mind.

She is behaving in a feline manner. Her acts reflect her coquettish demeanor. It wouldn't be strange if someone made an impulsive purchase in order to gain her favor. It's hard to blame them for that. Many stupid customers would fall for this.

I averted my attention from her.

"Ahem. Thank you, but no." It is preferable not to become involved with her.

I was ready to walk away when she grabbed my hand again.

"You can't say that without first checking the goods. I sell a wide range of items, including weapons, potions, and a number of other miscellaneous items." She's employing all of her seductive techniques on me.

What exactly is her problem? I'm not sure what she is talking about. I don't appear to be wealthy. She has the ability to seduce others. Why me?

I decided to have a look at what was in store after giving it some thought.

"So, don't hold your breath for much from me. You should know by now that I'm not as wealthy as you might think." I simply drew a line on my stand.

No one can seduce me when it comes to money.

"All right, then, let's go inside."

We walked into the store. It was the tiniest building in the area. It was filthy and run-down all over. It appeared to be a disaster. I'm surprised it hasn't collapsed yet.

It's no surprise that there aren't many customers here.

"Don't get deceived by the appearance. Not all good-looking shops have good stuff and the same goes for the other way around. Sometimes our eyes may deceive us."

Well, that's true.

"So what would you like to see?" She enquired.

"I'm on the lookout for a sword."

"Very well, I might have a good collection of them which might fill your appetite."

To be fair I don't have many hopes for it in the first place. Expecting too many miracles in a day is not appropriate. I would be grateful if I could find something but there is no guarantee on it. Let's see how it plays out.

"Come follow me." She asked me to follow her.

I went inside and found various types of weapons were lying over there.

"You can find swords over there. Tell me when you found one that suits you and then we can come up with a mutual price that we both could agree on. What do you say?"

I nodded my head in acceptance.

I went to the swords section.

One thing I observed about this world's swords was that they were divided into two categories:

Large swords, either wide heavy swords or long claymores, were present. Many warriors and offensive augmentations liked these behemoths because of the raw power they could create with a single swing, but others thought the weapons were crude and unpolished.

Broadswords were the more balanced swords that were most typically employed by heroes and mercenaries alike. These were often carried with one hand and a shield in the other, but two-handed versions exist. These were the standard swords for studying swordsmanship since they delivered the most balanced and varied performances.

The lighter and thinner blades were the last type of sword. Sabers, curved single-edged swords (referred to as katanas in my universe), rapiers, and daggers all fit under this category. Sabers, katanas, and rapiers were designed for speed and precision, whilst daggers were frequently concealed or dual-wielded for more versatile and acrobatic combat methods.

Swords of all kinds were strewn across the ground in front of me.

Well, it is going to take some time to decide which one should I go for.
