Chapter 39: The Macatan Tribesmen has Powers

The ground starts to shake and the people panicked. Lapis was trying to calm everyone down, but when Gina cast her skill, Hyperbole to enhance Glenn's skill, they started to scream.

Behind Glenn, a giant tree made of pure white energy sprouted. The tree shone brightly, even growing as tall as the rest of the trees in their forest.

The panic in their minds vanished the instant they saw the tree. They watched in awe as the light of the tree shone down upon them, healing the ones who have been infected.

Glenn continued to cast the skill for a couple more minutes. He wanted to make sure that all the diseases from the tribesmen were cured, even the dormant ones deep inside them.

When he was sure that all the diseases has been cured, Glenn ceased his activation of the skill. The tree popped like a bubble and the light it emitted that looked like the sun vanished into a million smaller particles until the particles vanished into thin air.

"Lapis, it's done," Glenn said before falling to the ground.

"Glenn!"

"Glenn!"

Glenn woke up to the sound of a familiar voice. His eyes fluttered open and he saw a familiar face that he thought he'd never see again.

"You sleepyhead," the boy sighed. "Two days until the tournament and you're sleeping? We need to train, Glenn."

"You may be the sixth man, but your presence is still vital to the team," another one said.

"What?" Glenn shook his head to try and clear it. "Why am I here? Sam, what are we doing here?

"Because our team is going to the finals," the first boy, Sam, said. "Did you forget about it suddenly?"

"But I was just in the tribe–" Glenn paused then he chuckled. "Right. This is not real."

After he said that, the world seemed to stop and everything around him vanished like smoke. He was left floating in the empty space, endlessly looking at the pitch black surroundings.

"You are really impressive, human," Saroth's voice spoke from behind him. Glenn turned around and faced the six-eyed being. "You instantly knew that what I showed you just now was just an illusion."

"It wasn't a very convincing illusion," Glenn said. "Both Sam, Michael, and the rest of them hated me after what happened."

"Ah," Saroth nodded by all of his eyes moving down and then up. "It must be lonely living this life, Glenn. But I can change everything if you'd let me."

The offer piqued Glenn's interest. He looked at the being in the eyes with a deadpan. "How will you change it if I give you the chance?"

"I will destroy all life in this planet until we rule," Saroth said enthusiastically. "Glenn, we can rule this world together. Only if you'd let me."

"You're very honest, aren't you?" Glenn chuckled. "You're really putting yourself out there, not caring about what other people might think of you."

"And why would I need to do that?" Saroth asked. "I am Saroth. I don't need to hide anything."

"Right," Glenn grinned. "Anyway, I wanna wake up now. It's been quite a while in here. My friends need me."

"Do you really have friends?" Saroth asked. "Or are they just temporary allies. You have them right now because you both have the same goal, to save your so-called world. But what happens after that?"

"We enjoy a good martini by the sunset on the beach," Glenn replied with a deadpan. "I think your hatred towards everything is rooted from your past, Saroth. You don't have many friends when you were younger, don't you?"

"What do I need those friends for?" Saroth laughed loudly. "You had friends when you were younger. Look at where you are now."

Glenn couldn't help but scoff after hearing this. He rolled his eyes and shook his head in both disappointment and amusement, "Saroth, what really are you and what do you need from me?"

"If you really want to know, then let me use your body for once," Saroth said. "I promise to return it right after a few seconds."

"I could destroy a village in a few seconds," Glenn said. "You're trying to trick me into letting you use my body and then kill everyone in Tribe Macatan."

"I guess you're not easy to fool," Saroth sighed. "Then how about this. When you desperately need more power, you call for my help. When you do, I will have a condition for you."

"You'll take over my body forever?" Glenn snorted. "Yeah, right. I'd rather do everything in my power to avoid such confrontation."

"It's not like that," Saroth said. "You can let me use your body for a few minutes when you're in the brink of desperation. Just for a few minutes. But when that happens, I will also have my own request."

"Like that will ever happen," Glenn sighed. "Dream on Saroth. But I have to wake up now. I still need to go to the city of Caracat."

"Call my name when the time comes," Saroth closed his eyes one by one. "When that happens, the deal shall start."

Glenn also closed his eyes and forced himself to pull back into reality. When he did, his eyes fluttered open for the second time. Now, he heard birds chirping to which he found odd.

"Were there any birds in the area before?" Glenn asked. He was inside a wooden room with John sitting on the chair beside the bed. The latter was sleeping soundly based on the soft snores that he was producing.

"John?" Glenn called out, but to no avail. "Hey, John?"

John woke up that instant. He almost fell off of the chair when his body jolted. "W-What? Oh, you're awake!"

Glenn sat up and touched his head when he felt the world spin the moment he moved. "How long was I out? A day or two? What about Gina? Is she alright?"

"Four whole days," John said. "Also, Gina said that you were the one who basically continued casting the Tree of Life and when she stopped midway, you still continued."

"That's because I needed to make sure everyone was healed," Glenn said. "Are they fine?"

"Yes, and no," John grinned awkwardly. "You did something more than cure the tribesmen."

"What?" Glenn asked. "Did I kill them or something?"

John slowly shook his head. There was a mixture of worry and excitement in his eyes that Glenn wondered why.

"Now I'm scared," Glenn gulped.

"They have powers," Gina sighed. "The Macatan Tribe gained some powers.",
