Chapter 2: Amana and his message
The princess was so exited when it was time for the family and friends to present birthday gifts to her,this is because she has been longing for a particular ancestral gift her father-the King promised to give her on her eigtheenth birthday. Her parents were to present their gift first,then the guests will present their's. Her father called her to come and she rose from her seat to meet him. She reached close to her father's seat, bowed down and her father after praising her handed over a neatly rapped medium sized box to her. She collected it,thanked him but she was wondering why a medium sized box because what she was expecting from her father is small. She turned and handed the box to Alice her personal maid who was standing beside her. She turned back to face her mother to collect her mother - the Queens gift,and her mum stood up,hugged her, kissed her forehead,then handed over to her a rapped box bigger than the one her father gave her. Her personal maid helped her to carry it to the princess's seat side, from where the gifts will be carried to the princess's room. The princess went and sat down. The King then told the guests to go to her seat and present their gifts one after another. He also told two guard to guide the guests to do the gift presentation in an orderly manner and two other maids to help the princess personal maid to be collecting and arranging the gifts.
As they were presenting the gifts to her, the drunk and the guard's who brought him reached the palace main court which is the party venue. The drunk didn't shout as they were coming in because the guards treathened to push him out of the palace if he shouts again. As they arrived the King frowned when he saw it was a drunk that has been disturbing the peace of the palace all this while, but he didn't talk because he asked them to bring into the palace who ever it was. The drunk was taken straight to where the King sat and immediately he bowed and said "long lived the king" . The king acknowledged his greetings and told the guards where to keep him and to keep an eye on him until gift presentation was over. All the guests were surprised to see such an unkept person in their mist. One of the guests - King of Malu the next kingdom from Wemba said to one of the chiefs that came with him, 'is this not Amana the drunk from our Kingdom" The chief looked at the drunk and said ' yes he is the one oo! I wonder Why is he here? the chief asked. The king of Malu then told the chief that since the King of Wemba allowed him into his palace,there is no problem.
Amana the drunk waited for a while, stood up from his seat and said this people are delaying me here,I'm not here for all these things. He shouted "l want to talk to the princess and her family,then go my way". One of guards tried to make him keep quite but he shouted "leave me alone!" The queen who has been observing the drunk told the king "look, the drunk is trying to create a scene and spoil this party, please do something".
"Entertain him till the princess finishes collecting her gifts" the king instructed a maid to serve him with anything he wants. He was served with foods and drinks so he calmed down.
After the gift presentation, the king asked the gaurds to bring the drunk to him so he would come and say what brought him. They brought him forward and he said: "My name is Amana the great, I'm from Malu and l have come to wish the princess well on her day".
"Hmmm, ok you are welcome said the king,the queen also told him welcome,then the king went further to say "our daughter the princess is here so you can wish her well since that is what you came for".
The drunk moved few steps front, and as he tried to move one step backwards,he fell down. Two guards wanted to help him get up but he said "no,l can get up myself". They left him and he helped himself up,hit his right hand on his head and said to himself "Amana the great say what brought you". He faced the princess and her parents and said:
"May the princess day be blessed!
May she live long on earth!!
May she enjoy good health!!
May her parents live long too to enjoy the fruit of their labour!!
May her parents allow her to follow her destiny in life!!!
I may be a drunk,but l know what I am saying!!! "
he drunk went further to say "our princess you shall continue to grow strong and healthy, filled with wisdom". The princess and her parents echoed Amen!
"My king the destiny of the princess may not be as you and everyone expects,but both you and the queen should accept it because it will end well. I rest my case, Amana the great doesn't talk too much". He bowed down and said "Long live the king,his queen and the princess! I beg to take my leave now, thanks for allowing me in, entertaining me and also allowing me to speak".
You are welcome said the king. Two guards came to lead him out and he followed them. As he was being escorted to the main gate,the King and queen thanked their guests then the party was declared closed by the king. As the guests started exchanging greetings in readiness to go home,the personal maid to the princess and two palace maids helped to carry the birthday gifts to the princess's room. Then suddenly a voice was head shouting " I forgot to say something, let me go back!" As everyone turned to check who it was, lo and behold it was the drunk. The guards tried to resist him from going back to the party venue, he ran so fast and headed towards the main court. The guards that were escorting him were surprised and ran after him wondering what he was up to. As the drunk ran to the party venue,the guests who were exchanging greetings were surprised to see him runing back. But the drunk didnt mind anybody but ran even faster and headed towards the King.
