Chapter 2: Strange Lord

(16 years later)

Luna blew the candles on her birthday cake. She was getting 20 today. She enjoyed the birthday party that her aunt and uncle celebrated for he but she would have been happier if the lord and his family were here especially Nicholas.

After the tragic incident that happened 14 years ago, she hadn't seen Nicholas or his siblings. Not many knew it Lord Aiden had passed away from the cruelty of human beings. The same people that he protected himself had killed him but even they did not know that. He was killed in a different form.

When Luna closed her eyes she just had one wish in mind and that was to see Nicholas again. She had asked her aunt if she could visit them but her aunt said they couldn't as it could compromise their safety. At first, she didn't understand how but now she did.

She had discovered years ago that she was a hansonian, creatures that were hated by the humans, the very people she mingled herself with. Luna could clearly remember how she discovered her elemental ability.

...

It was a bright sunny morning which was surprising because that was in a part of the year that was related to rainfall. Little Luna held the doll Nicholas had gifted her on her birthday. When she showed it to her friend they all were happy for her, except for one, Harper.

Harper was the meanest girl little Luna knew. From the day they met, they had never been on good terms. Harper snatched the doll from little Luna and ripped its head off. Little Luna was so angry that she pushed Harper. A strong gush of wind followed little Luna's push and threw Harper's small self feet away.

Harper hit her head on a tree and lost consciousness.

The rest of her friends had run by the time so not many were there to witness the scene. Luna's aunt and uncle had a hard time convincing the children that what they saw was completely normal but with the help of some spells they were able to.

Harper on the other hand forgot all that had happened with the help of a spell.

Luna's aunt and uncle had taught her how to control her abilities. When they noticed she had more than one elemental they all went on their knees which shocked little Luna.

According to her aunt and uncle, she was a Royal of Hanson. At first little Luna was terrified with the idea of belonging to a race that was disliked by the majority of the people she lived with

But her aunt and uncle had told her there was nothing to worry about as long as she didn't use her abilities out in the open.

...

Luna lived in a village that was in the forest. The houses of the village were widely separated. The perfect place to stay hidden. When she and her aunt were to go buy some things from the market they usually covered their heads with hoods.

After eating the cake and other goodies her aunt had excellently prepared she helped her aunt with the dishes. At first, her aunt refused it wasn't a job fit for a Hansonian royal but she had coaxed her aunt until she finally gave in.

...

In a huge mansion at the center of Riverdale, A man sat in front of a desk reading pieces of parchment paper that were held together by strings. He had a serious expression on his face yet he looked as handsome as ever. His black hair combed so perfectly that not even a single strand was out of place.

"Nicholas, are you still working? It's already time for dinner." A man identical to him said. He was Lucas who was two years younger than his brother who was the lord of Riverdale.

Lord Nicholas glances at his younger brother through his reading glasses. He would have told home to go and women later but he knew his brother would stay until he left with him to the dining room. And he surely didn't want his younger sister getting worried over him not having his meals on time.

Since his parents passes away he had taken up the responsibility of taking care of his younger siblings.

With a sigh, he removed his glass and placed them on the desk. He went with Lucas to the dining room. When he went there his black eyes scanned the dining room to notice his sister wasn't here yet which was odd.

"Where is Gina?" He asks his brother who shrugged.

"Michael, where is Gina?"The Lord asked the butler.

" She's in your mother's room, milord." the butler was quick to reply.

With a soft sigh, the lord walked up to his late mother's room. He had a clue about what Gina was doing in their mother's room. When he got there he was right. Gina's eyes were red as she had been crying for some time now.

Without a word, the lord gently sat beside his sister who was sniffing. She held in her hand one of their mate's mother's dresses.

"Why did they have to die?" Gina asked between sobs.

"They just had to. Darkness emphasizes the importance of light and in the same way, death makes life important. To know that your days on this lands are numbered makes life that more valuable."

Gina looked up to meet her brother's gaze. He had that calm face that he had mustered throughout the years. The same face that hid all emotions except anger. Even though he had no emotions on his face she knew that he also felt something. He wasn't the heartless person that people perceived him to be. He was her brother and a good one at that She just wish others would get to know him as well as she knew him. But it wasn't entirely their fault that they didn't get to know him better because he never allowed outsiders to get close to him.

Nicholas just became a different person after their parents died. Now that Gina thought about it she realized that she hadn't seen her brother smile after their parent's death.

The lord stood up and left Gina. He went to the dining room and sat down.

"Michael, get some food for Gina." Michael bowed down and left to get some food served to the young miss. He had been serving this household for three generations. He knew the first Lord who had gotten married to a human. This was the third generation that he was serving.

Michael had no other family so he took the lord and his siblings as his children. After the tragic event that led to the loss of two family members, he had done his best to raise them.

It was ironic how the lord had to protect the same people who killed his parents. Even though the Humans killed his parents he still tried his best to make them safe and never needy. It was his duty after all.

"How was your visit to the magistrate's office,," The warlord asked the younger brother. He had sent Lucas to the magistrate of one of the towns.

"Something smells fishy about him, apart from his office." Lucas chuckled before continuing to say," But he has hidden his tracks quite well so far." Lucas was was sad drinking from the glass that contained blood.

Though the lord and his family were perceived to be humans like the rest, the truth was far from that. The lord and his siblings were the outcomes of two creatures that were hated by the humans in this land. An alpha wolf and a royal of Hanson.

The lord nodded his head at his brother's words. When someone is doing something unethical they tend to clean up their tracks. Sometimes they clean it up so much that one tends to suspect their actions and intentions.

He would have to go and check things out for himself. He could send Lucas to do that for him but it would be best if he went himself. That way things would move much faster.

He had his suspicion on that magistrate for a while now. The animals of the people were being killed randomly yet the magistrate hadn't put up any word to him. It was by mere chance that a commoner had gotten the chance to speak to him. If not that encounter with the commoner he would be left blind to the struggles of his people

The Lord didn't hold any vengeance toward the people for the inevitable thing that happened. That did not mean he would let himself or his siblings die from the same fate. He would make sure he protected them even if it cost him his life. Though it would be unlikely that a human could overpower his siblings he still needed to protect them.

Sometimes he blamed himself for his father's death but that didn't make any difference. It wasn't anyone's fault. It was their destiny to lose their life I'm such a manner. The lord could clearly remember how his father was set aflame.
