Chapter 5: Whip

Zero reached down and picked up the pole, figuring it was the best weapon he was going to get. After five minutes, Zero looked down at his shoulder, finding it had stopped bleeding and was now a large scar. 'So the souls have multiple uses. I wish it would tell me everything they could be used for.'

-Notice-

Souls are <ERROR>.

Zero rolled his eyes as the same window from before appeared. Zero stuck his head out of the bathroom doorway, looking through the similarly destroyed room door. When he found nothing to be visibly there, he ducked back into the bathroom and checked his body. The first thing he noticed was that his left arms pinky was hard to move. When he wondered about it, a window appeared.

-Notice-

Mana channels in the user's left pinky will take <5> hours to mend themselves.

'If each finger is the same, then that means I have 10 shots in a five hour time period. I'll have to use them sparingly.' Zero felt like his left arm was hotter then normal, and he figured if his arm was the weapon, then it was overheated. 'I'll have to see how many shots I can produce before the Mana channels in my arm fry as well. If my arms fry, I can't see me being able to use my fingers, even if they are still working.'

Zero moved his focus to his right arm this time, moving it in multiple different ways. 'Its stiff, but otherwise its good as new.' Zero, deciding that he had to go check on his grandmother, took a deep breath before stepping out of the bathroom. When nothing happened, he started walking forward, his right hand holding the pole while it was supporting his left hand, which he was pointing his ring finger forward. The way he was holding the pole and his other hand reminded him of how cops hold there flashlight.

As he walked through the hospital rooms door and into the familiar hallway, he couldn't help but shiver as he remembered the memory of his leg being cut. Shaking his head to get the thought out of his mind, he continued to make his way to what he thought was the elevators. "Gleguk!" Zero froze when he heard the tell tail word of the green things. Without a second thought, he quickly ducked into another hospital room, trying not to make a lot of noise as he stepped over the remains of the door.

'They broke into each room. They don't seem that smart to check every room though.' Once more he heard the green thing speak, this time closer to his position. Zero peaked around the rooms door frame, finding three of the green beasts had walked past his room. The first thing he noticed about them was they were carrying kitchen knives, while one had a cleaver. 'So they have already raided the kitchen, If I knew which floor was the kitchen, I could figure out if they were on the the lower floors.'

Zero guessed he was on at least the 20th floor of the building, meaning he was going to have to travel all the way down, find out were he was in the city, before making his way to his grandmothers house. the realization that he would most likely have to make it across a city full of monsters crossed his mind, and with it, the answer to his predicament.

Without a seconds thought, Zero stepped out behind the three walking figures. 'Lets hope this is long range too.' Zero focused in on the one with the meat cleaver, which was in the middle of the three. A beam of black shot out of his ring finger before punching into the things left shoulder. The thing wailed as its left arm was separated with the attack.

Without pause, Zero lifted his middle finger and focused on one to its left. once more a beam of black shot out, only this time the target jumped out of the way. Zero pulled his arm in the direction of were the thing was laying on the ground. Zero was hoping the beam would travel like a laser, however to his shock, the beam condensed and rippled to his movements. 'The beam turned into a whip?'

Zero could feel his middle finger as it burned. 'Its about to die.' Zero's focus was pulled from his finger as the third green monster was running towards him. Without a second thought, Zero raised his pointer finger, resting it against his middle finger. Thinking about the way the beam was now acting, he swung his hand to the right. There was resistance, as if he was trying to rapidly move his arm through water, however he pushed through to.

The third beast was only 20 feet from Zero when the whip connected with its neck, before completely severing its head from its body. The whip fazed out of sight just as Zero's pointer finger reached the peak of pain, matching his other three fingers. Zero cradled his left arm to his chest as he looked down the hallway for survivors. To Zero's relief, all three of the green things had been hit by the whip before dyeing.

Zero quickly walked forward, picking up the knives from the three's corpses before searching the air for the souls. he was a bit confused when he found 3 souls instead of 6. 'Window, does each thing not drop two souls?' There was a moment of quite before a window appeared.
