Chapter 3: The Seal

Ryo was frantic and rearranged his gear for the worst. He didn't forget to wrap his father's sword.

[A level D portal will open soon, a Magnetic Cloud Storm will form, residents must immediately evacuate to the nearest bunker.]

The notification of the A.I's voice kept ringing over and over and over and over the city. The rescue guard troops arranged for the residents to enter the bunker in an orderly manner.

The wind was blowing very hard when Ryo came out of his apartment, thick black clouds began to form over the sky and rolled in circles which formed a giant tunnel that connected earth and outer space.

The horrific sight seemed to make the heavens fall over their human heads.

A moment later, the sound of thunder boomed very loudly and lightning flashed fiercely. It made the citizens panic. It was clear that the army personnel had arrived and were struggling to manage the confused citizens.

Ryo reflexively gripped the sword he wrapped in black cloth, but he didn't feel any magnetic attraction to the sword.

Even the car on the side of the road was slowly dragged away. The lighter objects were already spinning in the air to form a trash cyclone that grew longer by the minute.

This incident made the troops, who previously only came to evacuate residents into panic.

"Here Alpha Team, Abyssals Creatures landed in the middle of the road, send help immediately, akhhh!!!" the radio sound just cut off, the personnel were very familiar with the sound of their colleagues choking on the radio indicating the other side was dead.

"Damn it!" a man cursed. He was the operations commander and wore a beret hat with 2 stars. He knew that facing a level D monster with minimal equipment was certainly a suicide, even if they sent help.

Slowly Abyssal Creatures emerged from behind the smoke, their eyes burned red while fumes out of their noses were clearly visible. These creatures then moved, Others jumped into the air, others soared and flew freely, and a loud bang erupted when a creature landed not far in front of Ryo.

The soldiers who tried to repel the monster were blown away easily with a single blow. Even the innocent children who were a small group nearly was blown away until they hit the wall and fell unconscious

As he watched the horrific condition of the people around him, Ryo, who had also fallen due to the wave, stood back up. An emotion that seemed to have been suppressed for a long time burst out with anger.

"That's enough!!"

Ryo shouted at the monster in front of him, anger, irritation, fear mixed into one. He brandished his sword at the vicious creature who towered over him that seemed impenetrable with its thick scales.

At this moment, a voice suddenly sounded in his mind.

[The Heir is in danger, release the Seal]

Instantly he realized that the sound was coming from the sword he was holding.

[Release the Seal! Right Now!]

The sound of the sword echoed so loudly in Ryo's mind at that time that his head felt like it was spinning.

Do it or die, that was all Ryo had in mind. He didn't budge the slightest bit tightly gripping the hilt of his sword, but the words of the sword seemed to echo in his head, and strangely he felt the flow of foreign energy from the sword.

As if answering his wish, the sword emitted a jet-black aura. It enveloped Ryo's entire body.

"Release!"

Ryo's hands and mind seemed to be being guided by the black energy of his sword, he swung his sword with all his might horizontally, and the black wave hit the monster in front of him.

The monster was hit with a heavy blow and fell instantly as a disgusting green liquid splattered from his stomach.

Not only that, the black waves that Ryo emitted also managed to neutralize the Dimensional Anomaly that had spread to the surrounding area.

This allowed Ryo to feel things around him, he could even feel strong energy that passed through the air at high speed.

But as he hadn't been able to identify the energy, Ryo's body felt very weak, and he fell, while he tried to stay conscious.

"A rise of a Rifter!"

Someone shouted when they saw Ryo's awakened power.

Unaware, the people around him cheered for Ryo's success in bringing down the monster. The soldiers were also stunned to see Ryo's courage.

But then they were shocked to hear the screams,

"Don't just stare! Attack the monster! QUICK!" shouted the troop commander.

The soldiers immediately ran over and shot the fallen monster, and even two Tanks that had arrived with high-explosive ammunition shot the monster,

"SHOOT!!!" shouted the soldiers.

The tank's cannon fire hit the monster and injured the monster again. Wasting no time, the soldiers came forward and charged at the monster mercilessly.

With a blurred vision, Ryo saw the monster cornered. Thick green blood splattered from its body, every bullet pierced the monster's body until it was seriously injured. The monster was subdued and the soldiers cheered for their victory.

But it was not over, the portal hadn't closed yet.

Suddenly a deafening roar resounded from within the portal and forced everyone to freeze due to the intense energy pressure.

An object shot like a meteor from inside the portal and pierced a tank to shreds.

The monster's body wasn't much bigger, but it walked more robustly and gave off a terrifying black aura. He carried a silver trident spear in his right hand and he slashed at whatever was in front of him.

"Human! You must come with me, live or die," he said in a voice that echoed in the air and pointed at Ryo.

The soldiers immediately opened fire from the top of the combat vehicle, but the monster wasn't even scratched. His scaly skin was like a tough suit of armor.

"You're wasting my time," he immediately jumped into the middle of the convoy of combat vehicles and broke through the army's line of defense in an instant.

They all understood that without the help of a high-level Rifter, this creature could not be stopped. Everyone lost their hope.

Ryo held his sword tightly in preparation to fight again, even though he knew he didn't have much strength left. The desperate faces of the ordinary soldiers made him feel a little sorry and thus, he chose to stand firm.

BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!!!

Amid that desperation, the sound of a jet plane buzzed loudly in the sky, firing dozens of rockets that shot at speeds beyond sound and slammed into the back of the Abyssals Creature. This time, the rockets finally succeeded in seriously injuring it.

However, the monster became even more ferocious and released an energy pressure that crushed the road he was standing on.

To everyone's surprise, a figure suddenly jumped out from the moving jet.
