Chapter 2: CH-2 Earlier that day
~20.12.2022~
Han Seo Yun's house
•Tring ring Tring ring• went the alarm at 7:30 am. • Tring ring Tring ring• went the alarm again ten minutes later.
"Ugh, I wish I could sleep forever, just like sleeping beauty! but, I should probably start my morning routine." Grumbled Seo Yun annoyed.
Soon he went to his bathroom, brushed his teeth, and continued the rest of his morning routine.
"The first thing the government should do is close the schools. Don't they know how important sleep is to children !? Also being a second-year high school student is hard." He still grumbled, and right at that time, his tummy rumbled!
"Well.... let's go eat now my dear tummy! I smell Mother's freshly made bacon and Sunny side up! Let's start this day happily, shall we!?" He told to himself with a smile on his face.
Down he went the stairs to the dining hall, where his parents and sister were seated.
"Hey dear!" started his mother "Come and sit, I've made your favorite breakfast! And is something wrong, dear, you look a bit dull." Said his mother, worried.
" Thank you for making my favorite breakfast Mom! And nothing's wrong it's just that I don't like going to school". Said Seoyun with an annoyed look on his face.
His father was watching television while sipping his daily dose of tea.
"School can be pretty good and interesting to people who ACTUALLY STUDY in school, bro" Said Seonmi (Seoyun's sister) Sarcastically chuckling.
"hmmph! Like YOU actually study! Don't judge me when you're the same."
"Stop it you two," Said his mother, irritated. " your father and I have to go to work soon and you two are fighting as if you two are some immature kindergarteners just eat the food fast and get ready soon, you're bus will arrive now!" Shouted Mina (Seoyun's mother) angrily.
The room became pin-drop silent. Seoyun finished his food and went to wear his uniform. "HONK! HONK!" went the horn. "Bye, mom! see you later! love you, mom, love you dad!" said Seoyun and went to his school.
In the classroom
The classroom was deafening! The students didn't even notice Seoyun coming in. He was bored as people were busy talking with their friends. Seoyun's best friends were not in the same homeroom as him either.
"*Sigh* Did I wake up this early in the morning just to come to this boring class with no close friends and students who don't even care if I'm here or not. I wish my life was a bit more interesting with challenges and people who care about me."
As he was bored and didn't know what to do, he wore his headphones and started playing a game on his mobile phone. A few minutes later, someone patted his head so hard. Seoyun turned his head angrily, removing his headphones. He heard a loud voice saying
''Hey Yun!"(His friends and classmates call him Yun for short) It was Rachael!
"Oh, hey Rachael. How you doing? I'm surprised that you even noticed me."
"Hey, don't be like that, we all noticed you, we just didn't start a conversation with you because you seemed like you didn't want to be bothered or else we would have talked with you for sure" Said Kion a bit hurt.
"Oh, yeah sure, you people would've talked to me," He said sarcastically
"Everyone silent! It's time to study. Everyone take page 138 in your book and Seoyun read the para aloud so everyone can hear you. I hope everyone has completed the assignment that was given to you. Grades will be reduced for students who haven't completed the assignment yet."
"What!? That's really unfair! I don't want my grades to be reduced! My parents are already scolding me for the drop in my grades!" Said Luise in a threatening and ordering voice.
" Well, if you didn't want your grades to be reduced you should've done the assignment. Now Seoyun read the para from page 138 and I hope everyone can hear me crystal clear". Said the teacher, angry and annoyed by Luise.
Seoyun read the para and the class continued for another hour or so.
"I suggest that everyone finishes the assignment that I gave you today. NO EXCEPTIONS shall be given. Goodbye children" Went the teacher.
After the teacher went the class became noisy again. "Mrs.Jones is so cruel. She always gives us a ton of assignments to do" Said Leo. "Right! Mrs.Jones does give us way too many assignments to do." Said the others agreeing to Leo's statement. Just like that, continued the rest of the classes, and school ended for Seoyun.
In the park
He met up with his friends in the evening in a park near his house. "Haa!" Sighed Steven. "School is seriously hard. How are they expecting us to do all of the assignments which we get from different subjects when each teacher teaches only one subject."
"I know!" Exclaimed Daniel. "When teachers only have the capacity to teach one subject, how and why are they expecting us to excel at multiple subjects!?"
"I know it's hard but that's just how life goes" Started Seoyun "but I do wish my life was a bit exciting like the game I played. It had zombies and other creatures in it".
"I wish that too," said the other two. "It's getting dark let's all go home" Said Daniel.
And soon they parted ways and for some reason, at that moment Seoyun realized that 'Nothing is permanent in this world'. His mother made their dinner and they all ate in peace. Seoyun thanked his mother for the food and went to his room. As he wasn't that sleepy he played the same game he was playing at school. He wished his life would be like that in 'Horizon' (The game he was playing) too.
And soon he went to sleep.
