Chapter 2: Chapter 01 Why a Hero?

In a world with complex society, teemed with corporations running the country. Money and wealth were the fuel to live, leaving those lacking to be left at the mercy of the rich.

The dirty work of the corporations were done by those needing wealth and job security. The laws be damned, everything can be paid by those up top, for they make every tech that runs the world. And what about the normal civilians without wealth and the law to protect them from the corps dirty jobs? That's where the Security/Hero Inc comes in

Making use of the media and the people backing them. Their hero icons and personnel became the new idols, people's new hope. Heroes have fame and wealth, but still loved by the people for upholding the law in the streets.

Enter Sayyea, failed in reaching her dream to become a singer, she chose to become a hero. But how does she fail?

"Uh.. So when i was, a young boy, my father.. Ok ok, enough joking from me"

As the interviewers looked at her with apathy, she then straightened her posture.

"I was going to this singing school, but, like, you know, i was singing this sad song by the hollys, you guys know this song right? A bit not mainstream, but still timeless nonetheless. Ok, back to it. I was at the part where it hits the feels, but then the teachers and students were sad and some crying outright."

"I thought that was because of my voice and singing that brought it. But a moment later i see a female student hyperventilating and an older teacher holding his chest in pain"

"So i stopped my song, then they began breathing again, though still heavily"

"Then a teacher told me, " You don't belong here, girl, that was not a vocals, that's an attack, your voice's ok, but the impact it brings? I suggest you go get yourself a teacher, to control it", So yea, 2 years later, here i am"

A man with wrinkled brow then asked her.

"So you found the coach or teacher? Can you show us your talent now? Miss.. "

"Sayyy Yeahhh!!!"

All three of the interviewers: Yeahhh!!!

All three of them said it out loud involuntarily, their hands go up in the air.

"That's my stage name, and that's my ability, smart way to show it if i do say so myself"

"Ehem, so when you say something out loud, it makes other imitates you?" Said the female judge while tidying her blazer.

"No, when i imagine a move concretely and said the command word wholeheartedly, i can make people to connect with my psych, in doing so making them do the thing i imagined"

"Can you chose the specific target, or it hits everyone hearing? I am afraid you can't work in teams if the later were the chase"

"Mister Heller, can you turn around? Please"

The male judge, youngest among them, began to stand from his seat involuntarily, and proceed to do a pirouette, and a well trained one at that.

"Wha.. I didn't know you do ballet, sir heller"

Asked the female judge.

The interviewer called Heller then sat himself down, with a face as red as an apple.

"So you see, if i say an identifying sound such as name, or appearance which the subjects were aware of, i can pick them, and affect them alone from the crowd"

"And don't worry about my being at team work"

"All of you, uplift your spirit, and do your job diligently!"

As the judges/interviewers job was just to sit and ask away at interviewee, they didn't show significant changes in their behaviour and state. But then..

"Alright, let's ask you this, what's with the get up?"

All three of the judge asked at the same time. She knew they all have that thought in their mind, but they just said it now, as their mood lightens due to her word. But they might not be aware.

"Well, you see. I had a dream to become an idol, so i dressed like this."

"A crop top and leggings showing your lower body features?" Said the female judge.

"Hear me, dear. We are interested in you and your ability in this business, but i am afraid that costume will do no good, all the female heroes wear suits, capes, dresses even, but it still counts as decent costume"

"And what's with the facemask? Are you sick now? Or you can't afford a hero mask as of now?" The older male judge chimed in.

"Uh, about that. I can wear extra covers, but i find it better to move wearing this. I'll think about a more family friendly costume. About the mask, i was thinking of getting myself a face mask with sound amplifier built in. But i can't afford that custom mask without my hero card to have the discount"

A moment of pause, and the judges glanced at each other.

"Alright, we'll hire you, you will work on the costume. You began work monday, go to the east alley side, you'll work at the crime prevention department."

"Wow, thank you, all of you, for giving me this chance. Now, say Yeah!!"

"Yeahhh!"

"Can you quit it?"

The same building, Security/Hero inc human resources department. A car pulls over to the lobby. There, a young man stepped out of the passenger seat.

Wearing what seemed like a tailor made suit, with short brown hair combed sleek to the back of the head. That appearance alone betrays the fact, that this young man belonged to a wealthy family, a typical young master.

"Good afternoon, sir. Do you have an appointment with someone?" Asked the reception lady.

"Yes, i believe i have an interview here, for your, most featured program."

"And your name, sir?"

"Gris, no surname attached."

As the receptionist guided the young man to the interviewers office, he heard from the inside, some, loud cheering.

"Yeahhh!!" The sound of cheering was carried outside.

"Please, can you quit it?"

"We get it, you are excited for our approval. But, please, refrain from agitating us any further, we have more interviewee waiting outside!"

"Alright you all, say bye!!"

"Byee!!" Said the interviewers together.

"Just, get out!! Next one please, come inside"

As there were no more interviewee waiting, it is now Gris's turn to go inside.

The door opened, revealing the one responsible for the rowdiness that just happened.

Slender body type, with curves at the right place. Her yellowish skin glistening under the warm white lightning of the corridor tells the care it took to maintain it.

What Gris's noticed most was, that she is tall. Gris himself thought that he's taller than most people, standing proudly at 193 cm. But, the girl in front of him stood nearly as tall as himself.

"Ah, you here for the same business? I wish you a good luck. I guess i made them angry earlier. See you"

As she waved Gris a kiss-bye, she then proceeded to walk away.

Her posture from behind, with her nape exposed due to her short hair tied in an updo. Was a sight for Gris, and that reminded himself for the long time he spent at the private guards, surrounded by fellow men, of how much he missed out on meeting such a person.

"Aren't you coming inside, boy?" Asked the wrinkled interviewer.

"Ah, yes. I'm sorry for the delay" He stepped in, as the door closed in on its own.

"So, as we read here. You are Gris Howard, I assume you are from the Howard Green?" Asked the interviewer with the name tag 'Heller'.

"Ah, please. I prefer to not be called by my family name. I'm here of my own volition, no family business's coming with me."

"So, all your capabilities were all written inside your printed records that we have here." Asked the interviewer lady.

"With your record, why are you not seeking career at the private security business? Why choose the Hero route? I believe you yourself doesn't really like being on the spotlight, seeing from your, history"

"Yes, can you sign me in without those popularity stuff? I just want to work for the people needing help, but i myself didn't really like the idea of being a public person." Gris explained to the three.

"Yes, we have those. Is the east alley side alright with you? They really need some Basic Defender to secure the area." The older interviewer asked.

"Uh, I was just expecting to get signed to the Crime Prevention office? I guess the B was accessible if you work well enough at the crime prevention?"

"Yes it was, but your ability and your requested convenience really suit the Basic Defender office. As you won't need to appeal to the masses that way, you just work."

"Alright, am I in?"

"Yes, we are glad to have you. And thank you, Mr. Gris."

"You're welcome, but i believe i didn't do much to deserve your gratitude?"

"Thank you, for not asking about the one before you."

"Ah, that."
