Chapter 11: Mystic Eyes

"How does it feel?"

"It itches. It is also weird not being able to see but I was expecting that already."

"Yes, you will have to prepare mentally to having to wear the blindfold for at least a week before even considering taking it off. Come see me every two days for the check-ups and I will let you know when you are ready to use your eyes. As for the itch... well you will just have to endure it, it might be annoying this first few days but you will get used to it." explained my mom.

"Sigh, well whatever, do you mind taking me out? My butler is waiting outside for me." I ask her.

One of the assistants places me on a wheel chair and starts pushing me to the door.

As we make our way towards the entrance, I can't help but be glad. Finally I have a trump card, well a trump card besides my alchemies but whatever. The Mystic Eye of Distortion is pretty op, honestly it is similar to Kakashi's kamui except it doesn't send things to a different dimension, however my eye is able of being used repeatedly without having me go blind and it doesn't take so long to charge, I mean Kakashi had to close his eye for like five seconds before using kamui.

Part of the reason why I chose this eyes is because they work on both living beings and objects. Besides this they are also very useful despite not being the strongest, however according to my research the chances of the operation succeeding would have been much smaller the stronger the eyes are. Besides getting a pair of the strongest eyes would have being too hard bordering on completely impossible.

"Are you alright young master?" asked my butler once we exited the lab.

"Yes, don't worry too much, I told you I was going to depend more on you from now on." I reply calmly.

"So you meant this huh, very well young master." he said while taking the chair from my mom's assistant.

"See you later Dio." said mom. Pretty weird hearing my name from her but also strangely nice...

"Yes, see you later." I answer with a small smile.

"Have you thought about how to explain this young master?"

"There is no need for an explanation. In a week I should have the blindfold removed, all I need to do is have no one else from outside the family see me in the meantime, which shouldn't be hard."

"I see..."

"Is there something you want to say?"

"I apologise for overstepping my boundaries, but are you sure it is a good idea to take so many risks? You are already an accomplished alchemist and keep improving, why take such a risk as this?"

"For my dream... I will fulfil it regardless of the cost."

"I see..."

.

[ 2 weeks later ]

"Well this took a bit longer than expected, but was still within a reasonable timeframe." said my mom while talking the bandages off of my eyes. "Now open them and tell me how your sight is."

As I open my eyes, I was momentarily blinded my the light and could only see white. Blinking several times, I could feel my eyes adjusting to the light.

"Take it slowly, it should require a bit of time for your eyes to get used to seeing again after the operation and the two weeks of blindness."

"Yes yes, I know that." I say as my eyes slowly start making out shapes in front of me.

"Is that a sculpture?" I ask.

"Indeed, describe it to will you?" he says.

"Hmm, it is grey, around two meters or so in height and has the shape of a man wearing a hat and with a cane."

"Indeed, now describe to me this painting." she said while putting a painting in front of me.

"It is a painting of the entrance of our house in Italy." I say.

"Good, what colour is this?" she said while pointing at a flower on a vase that was resting on a table a bit far away.

"Purple." I answer.

"Good. Now let's test the abilities of your eyes. Try to use them on these to sculptures over there. Both are made out of clay so it won't require as much focus as a human or an actual rock-made sculpture." she said while pointing me in the two sculptures' direction.

I take a deep breath while closing my eyes. I feel my energy flow through my magic circuits and into my eyes.

< Mystic Eye of Distortion >

While opening my left eye, I focus on the head of the clay sculpture and it starts twisting, creating a vortex that makes everything in the region rotate towards the left and making cracks appear on it.

*Huff* *Huff*

"That tired me more than I expected." I say while panting.

"It should be expected. Wait a bit to recover and then use your right eye on the other sculpture." said my mom.

After waiting for a few minutes, I repeat the process with my right eye this time. I close both my eyes while feeling the energy flow through their magic circuits, however this time I focus most of my energy into my right eye.

< Mystic Eye of Distortion >

The head of the second sculpture, on which I was focusing my attention, started twisting to the right, causing cracks to appear on it.

As I start panting again, I take a look in my mom's direction.

"Good job. I was expecting to have to make you a blindfold for daily use, but it seems this stupid idea of yours to get new eyes paid off. Well this should be it, come over if you feel something weird going on with your eyes."

"Sure, can I leave the bandages off from now on?" I ask in a hopeful tone.

"Yes, but wear it while sleeping. It would be troublesome if you were to unconsciously activate them or something."

"Very well." I say while standing up to leave.

"Keep in mind that even if you have decent control over them, you still need to train them, otherwise they will be nothing more than expensive and fancy eyes." she says. "And don't forget to uphold your end of the bargain, I will leave the books on bio-alchemy outside so that your butler can pick them up. You will start studying and within the next five years I will start teaching you what I know."

"Yeah, I know."

As I make my way out, I see my butler waiting for me at the door.

"It is good to see you are alright young master." he says with a smile.
