Chapter 49: Car chases are cool

"How is it?" asked Giorno watching me drink the whiskey he found in the castle.

"Not bad." I reply, taking another sip and letting it rest in my mouth for a second before gulping it down. "I prefer wine but this isn't bad at all. Feel free to take it, we will be needing something to celebrate killing Kiritsugu and I don't think he is worth the bottle Zelretch gave me."

"Understood, young master." replied Giorno while serving two more glasses for Diarmuid and Medea, who had just entered the room.

"I found Kiritsugu's trail." said Medea with a small smile. "We will need to leave now if you want to catch him because he is moving quite fast."

I smiled at her words. "Good, make sure you don't loose him." I say while waking outside.

As we got into the car we came in, we made our way through the empty streets with Giorno driving as fast as possible.

"He discovered my familiars." said Medea, slightly annoyed. "He switched places with he white-haired woman and now she is driving, so he is shooting them down. It won't take him long to kill them all."

"Go faster, Giorno." I said, not amused at the fact that Kiritsugu might loose us.

"They just entered what you called a highway the other day." said Medea, focusing on what her familiars were seeing.

Giorno nodded and took a turn, making a shortcut to enter the highway.

After a few minutes driving we encountered a certain car in front of us. There was still quite a bit of distance, but the car was visible. The interesting thing about this car however was the man that was shooting down birds from the window.

A smile grew in my face as I saw this. "Found you, little rat." I mutter, opening the window and leaning out of it. My eyes began to glow while I focused on the light posts of the highway.

*Clang*

One of the posters bent and fell down, crashing in front of their car and making them loose control for a moment before regaining it.

"Fuck." I mutter. "Whatever, let's just take down their car and be done with it." I say, this time focusing my eyes on their car.

The tires of the car began to bend, making the car itself once again loose control. This time however things were different, because they were unable to get the control back.

*Crash*

Smoke began appearing from the car as it was crashed into the side of the road. From it, Kiritsugu was the first one to exit. Blood trailed down from his arm, however he ignored it and instead began shooting at our car. Immediately after, Irisviel and Saber left the car as well, they however were not wounded in the crash.

"Stop the car." I say, making Giorno hit the brakes before we got too close to them. "Giorno, go and get Irisviel. Medea, go get Kiritsugu and take the golden scabbard I mentioned out of him, Diarmuid go and defeat Kiritsugu, I don't care honestly if you kill him or not, just make sure to get the golden scabbard out of him."

Both Giorno and Medea nodded at my words, Diarmuid however stared at me for a moment.

"What is it?" I asked.

"I wished to finish my duel with Saber, my master." he replied. "I will deliver you her head this time without fail."

"I know you would." I say while smiling. "But I want her. I can't have her die now that I desire to take her as my own, so I can't send you to defeat her. You can finish your duel once I get her on our side, heck you can fight her as many times as you wish, however I can't have her die yet. Besides, the way I see it you have already defeated her, if it hadn't been for Kiritsugu calling her back you would have undoubtedly won, wouldn't you?"

Diarmuid smiled softly. "I would have indeed. If what you desire is not her head, then I have no longer a reason to get it." he said.

"Good, now go and deal with Kiritsugu." I tell him.

"Run, Iris!" said Kiritsugu before looking at his hand, the last command spell glowing. "By the command spell, I order you to use your noble phantasm to kill them, Saber!" he said loudly before turning around and grabbing Irisviel.

Saber looked at his back with an annoyed expression before turning back to us, her sword glowing with a golden light as golden particles began coming out of the floor.

"You know this won't be enough to kill us right?" I ask her.

She simply shrugged her shoulders with a defeated expression. "I know, but the command spell orders me to kill you, so I don't really have another choice but trying." she said while her sword was raised above her head.

"I will take care of this, you three go." I said, cracking my neck and opening my arms widely to tank the attack.

Once again I found myself being destroyed by the golden light, my mind still amazed at the sight of such a beautiful woman with such a fierce conviction who despite knowing she will not fulfil her dream, despite knowing she doesn't actually stand a chance in this war still tries to fight.

Medea came back momentarily and left me some clothes before leaving once again.

"You are just like me." I say while regenerating with a smile. "You too want to take something, and even if you don't actually have a chance, you still keep fighting for it. "

Saber looked at me in silence as I got once again dressed.

"So, king of knights, let me properly challenge you to a duel." I say with a smile. "You have already lost this war, that much should be obvious, so let me give you one last chance. If you win our fight, I will take you as my own servant and give you the grail once we win."

At my words, a confused expression appeared on Saber's face, which was quickly replaced by a hopeful one until it finally landed in a serious one. "And if I were to loose?" she asked.

Artoria already knew that they would not win this war, she would have been defeated by Diarmuid the last time they fought and there was still Caster on the enemy team, besides her master was the type of person she would hate to see win, the type of person who would destroy three houses and kill the families in them just to get one person.

"Then I want you to abandon your purpose and find a new one at my side." I replied. "I want you to forget your ideals and join me, I want you to fight my battles and defeat my enemies."

Artoria gritted her teeth at my words. "I already told the king of conquerors, I would never lower myself to be someone else's subject."

"I know." I say with a smile. "So marry me. If you were my queen, you would not need to lower yourself to me right?"
