Chapter 56: Onyx scales

While Keira took a deep breath and patted her chest to calm herself, she felt something was missing. The deep wound on her chest has completely healed, leaving no visible trace of damage, as if this wound had never happened. She then quickly checked on the wound on her leg and found that it had also healed.

Her eyes widened at what she just found out. What did the male do to her? Not only made her feel like she was being possessed, but he also healed her until her wounds healed. How was this possible?

'This is insane..' She quickly drew back and slammed into a broad back.

Keira felt like her head was about to crush—was it a male or a damn wall? She was wondering, "Uh.." She shook her head, waiting for the world to stop spinning and squinting up at the figure in front of her.

He turned around, facing the female who had just crashed into his back, before locking his gaze on her mesmerized eyes.

"Amethyst," he murmured, sending a chill running down her spine with his sepulchral, deep voice. Powerful yet hauntingly terrifying, a voice that made the listener goosebumps with fear.

He's like a starless midnight, representing an abyss without light nor a glimmer of vibrancy, coupled with a long claw scar on the outer corner of one eyebrow and sharp pointed ears that catch the eyes at first glance.

He has bristly, fire gazer black eyebrows that arched up arrogantly, a straight nose, together with concave cheekbones appeared chiseled into shape by a master craftsman. They were of such sharp contours, as if they were sculpted and paired to perfection.

A faint smile appeared on his stunning yet mysterious face, revealing sharp fangs that made her flinch. She had never seen such terrified handsomeness that represented the faces of angel and devil crashing into immortal allurement.

His long hair, as dark as velvet ink, was windswept into a natural wave. with a pair of mercury eyes staring blankly at her as though they were spellbinding her into oblivion.

On his muscled arms were embellished with scale-shaped onyx gems, but when looking clearly, these weren't accessories but embedded like gleaming scales into his skin.

Lower from the onyx scales were black symbolic patterns similar to a tattoo, coiling on his arms, contrasting with the white silken fabric he was wearing that was tied into a long skirt, revealing his chest that's muscular but not hulky, fitting well with his tall figure.

Before Keira would plunk deep into the ravine of that enigmatic beauty, she was interrupted by his deep voice, that roused her from the charm.

"Come to me, my jeweline" he extended his hand in an inviting gesture.

Keira froze in place. Her brain still wasn't functioning from the previous incident. "I'm sorry, what did you say?"

"I am fond of you.. Are you willing to be my mate?" He bowed elegantly, uncommon in the wild society to see a person posssesed such a graceful poise with purpose and authority.

Even if the male in front of her was miraculously handsome, she has Arel and still has to find him. There was no time for her to think about mates. "I'm sorry, but I have a mate."

'Indeed.." There was a pause before he continued with a calm expression, "If you would consider, I can provide you with anything beyond imagine.."

"Keira" A masculine voice came from behind her, making her spin around. She caught Xander's eyes looking at her with concern. He then glanced at the mysterious male and bowed slightly to him to show respect.

"Deer Tribal Chief.." The male watched Xander with eyes that were hard to read; the mercury eyes seemed to be slightly darkened.

Xander tugged Keira close to him, his blue eyes still locked on the mysterious male.

"Hmm, you are not her mate." The mysterious male spoke slowly, suppressing his frustration at Xander's hands being on his jewel. He sniffed the scent on her body, and the strong smell was not from the chief, so what right did he have to touch her like that?

Keira felt Xander's grip getting tighter. "..It's hurt," she muttered.

".." Xander regained his senses and let go of his grip. "your body isn't recovering yet, you shouldn't come out alone like this."

"Have you been hurt?" The mysterious male asked, shifting his sharp gaze over Keira's body.

"I'm fine" She glanced at Xander and the mysterious male. The tension between these two males was unpleasant; she didn't know what kind of feud these two had in the past.

"Xander!" A female's voice chimed in before she showed up to join this conversing party. She has long, dark brown hair tied in a ponytail and an eye-catching face. She halted at Xander's side and embraced him with her body.

Her gaze was first on Xander before she turned to glare at the mysterious male "Greetings." She bowed her head in respect toward the mysterious male. But her eyes that were looking at him were unfriendly; from her expression, it seemed like she didn't like him.

Keira was confused as to why everyone bowed to this mysterious male—was it some kind of culture in this place or what?

The mysterious male gave a slight nod as a response. "I see.. your mate is here, Tribe chief," he said, glancing at the female who was hugging Xander's arm. Though he knew that Xander and this female weren't mates but he found it amusing to provoke the situation.

Xander sighed "Stop it, Robin."

Robin dropped her hands as she was startled by his unusually cold voice. It was strange to see him being like this; no matter how much she bothered him, he was never this cold to her.

Keira, who was already confused with the mysterious male, was now twice as confused about things between Xander and that newcomer female. The way they acted toward each other was so contrasting that even Keira could see that this wasn't a mutual relationship.

Finally, the female noticed Keira's figure; her gaze on Keira went from stunned to suspicious and quickly turned into disgust.

Now the situation was getting awkward. Only Keira stood there in stupor.

As if the time was frozen, turning everything into silence before Xander started speaking to clear the awkward atmosphere. "Keira, this is Robin," he introduced the female.

Robin crossed her arms, dissatisfied with how coldly he introduced her. "I'm his close friend. So you're Keira?" There must be a connection between this purple-eyed female and the icy looks Xander gave her. How dare she seduce her male? She knew Xander for years. If he mates with her, it will be a great benefit to her tribe. Someone who was intelligent and strategic like him was only worthy for her, who's the beloved daughter of the wealthy Fox tribal chief.

Keira shifted her gaze between the two of them and nodded. "Yes, it was nice to meet a friend of Xander." Though there was no mistaking the hostility in Robin's glare, she still needed to act nicely according to manners.

Robin sneered at Keira's untroubled face, hating how this purple-eyed female could maintain her stern look so well. "Uh-huh." Robin raised her chin arrogantly in response.

That looked annoyed Keira, who was trying to be nice. 'Woman, if you wanna fight, I'm ready.' She sharply inhaled, maintaining her emotion. The hostility in this female was obvious, if she truly believed that Keira would easily submit to her, she was solely mistaken. In the modeling community, she struggled with all sorts of bullying when the competition was skyrocketing and everyone wanted to be recognized. Whether it was being framed, swiping job offers, creating scandals, putting on fake masks, or acting nicely while badmouthing her, she has been through it all. Just this female's opposing face was nothing she hadn't seen.

Robin cast a quick, disgusted glare at Keira before turning her attention to Xander. "My father still has something to talk to you, Xander. Why did you leave like this?"

Xander, however, ignored her. His gaze shifted to Keira with concern. "How are you? When I went to the room, you weren't there." He carefully reached out and held her hand.

"I was bored, so I went out for a walk," she lied poorly. The truth was that she was looking for a clue that would lead her to her mate.

Xander faintly smiled, regretting that he'd been so busy and had neglected to bring Keira out. "Then let me show you around. There are many interesting points in this tribe."

"No" Robin snuck in and interrupted them. She tugged Xander's arm back. "The cut-off trading route shows no sign of improvement. We still have things to consider." There was no way she would let these two go together. Her tribe was more important than this purple female's boredom.

Keira patted his hand. Even though she didn't like this fox girl's attitude, she shouldn't trouble his work. "It's okay, Xander. You should go back to manage your work I'll take a walk for a while before I'll go back to the room."

"Shall I send you back, my jewel?" The mysterious male interrupted. He stood there silently observing the situation, and this was his chance to get his jewel's attention. Without waiting for Keira to respond, he lifted her into his arms and left that spot.
