Chapter 40: Stay and serve me for half a year!

"Demeter, please forgive this child."

Hestia said softly to Demeter: "You also know that this child was only acting according to the oracle, so consider this as me requesting you?"

With the land revived and Demeter's anger subdued, Hestia began to intercede for Jason.

It can be seen that although they have met each other only a short time ago, Hestia, who has praised Jason's eyes for being very beautiful, has already begun to like him.

Kind of liking her child.

Hearing Hestia's words, Demeter couldn't help but glance at Jason who is standing beside Hestia.

Then she fell into silence.

'So far, although Demeter has not completely relented, returning vitality to the earth actually means that her anger has been mostly eliminated.'

Therefore, thinking like this, Jason also relaxed a little in his heart.

'This means that the matters of the two goddesses Demeter and Persephone are finally about to end.'

Although this matter took Jason quite a while to deal with, it was resolved relatively smoothly with the help of many gods.

However, the matters involved in the back were relatively large, as it was a secret transaction between Hades, the King of Underworld, and Zeus, the God-King.

And even if Jason isn't completely aware of things going on behind the scenes, this only shows that Jason's belief that the gods are troublesome is not without reason.

After all, if the plan has failed at any step then the first one to bear the brunt of Gods' anger would have been him.

So, Jason looked at Hestia next to him. He naturally knows that his role in this incident was very small, and he was just a medium for transferring the message.

And if it wasn't for the fortunate or unfortunate encounter with Hestia, the matter of Demeter definitely wouldn't have ended so simply.

'Now the important thing is to make sure that Demeter no longer has any lingering grudge against me.'

"I can forgive him for being unreasonable to me and not hold him accountable for trespassing on my temple or even abducting my daughter."

After a few moments of silence, Demeter spoke.

Jason also expected Demeter to relent this much, although, he is also expecting her to demand something in return for it.

Still, Jason expected Demeter to relent because he has found out that Demeter is a real daughter control; therefore, just because Persephone has allowed him to call her sister, Demeter would think twice before directly hurting him.

"However, I have a condition."

As the words fell, Jason's expression did not change too much, but in his heart, he is thinking: 'Indeed as I expected, this is a common script followed by the Greek Gods.'

'And although it will be very troublesome, considering that it can quell the anger of an Olympian, it is obviously worth it.'

"Goddess Demeter, it doesn't matter." Jason said with a serious face, "As long as I can do it, I will definitely complete it for you!"

Regarding Demeter's condition, Jason felt that it will mostly be about Persephone.

'At that time, through teacher Hecate, it would be very easy to find Persephone or even Hades, then complete the task.'

It is just that...

How can one's life be so smooth sailing?!

"I need him to stay and serve me for half a year!" Demeter observed Jason for a while and stated her condition.

'...What? This wasn't in the script!'

Jason is stunned.

"Serve you... for half a year?" Hestia also frowned.

"Don't worry, sister Hestia, I don't mean to take this opportunity for punishing him." Demeter obviously knew why Hestia is hesitating, so she said: "But he has taken Persephone after all, so before Persephone has returned, it is not too much asking him to serve me in place of my daughter, right?"

If Demeter isn't lying about not punishing Jason.

So half a year of service, in exchange for the forgiveness of a God...

In all fairness, this really isn't excessive.

It's really a simple task compared to the gods who let some heroes do many 'impossible' tasks at every turn.

But...

'Please, don't joke with me about this!'

Jason's expression is looking somewhat confused.

He is naturally quite reluctant in his heart.

'To get along with the Lord God, and to serve her for half a year? ...I won't do it!'

'Greek Gods are extremely moody by nature, so much so it will become a well-known fact in the future.'

'Who knows, I might offend this Goddess six more times in six months.'

Moreover, Jason has finally finished tempering his soul, and he is planning on learning magic from Hecate.

After all, although Jason has a strong artifact like Apollo's sword and he might actually get more upon trying,... for the lack of better words, they obviously can't be used against the ones who have given those to him, because they ultimately aren't his!

Although Jason had once decided to become a socialite, by now Jason has learned that these days even to become a socialite one needs to have strength.

Furthermore, now his ultimate goal is to become a God, which also can't be achieved without having some personal strength!

'Therefore, I certainly can't do this!'

Jason is shouting like this in his heart, but his expression is not showing anything about this because now, Hestia and Demeter are looking at him and waiting for his answer.

"Well... this may be a little unfortunate, Goddess Demeter."

Jason pretended to think for a long time, and then said with an embarrassed face: "Teacher Hecate and Sister Persephone are still waiting for me to return after carrying out their orders, and I still need to study from Teacher Hecate..."

Just when Jason was racking his brains to give a perfect and 'true' excuse for himself.

"It is all right."

Hecate's voice suddenly appeared in everyone's ears.

From the space bag, that Athena has given him and is hanging from his waist, a small spell flew out of it, after sprinkling faint fluorescence, it turned into a projection.

A projection of Hecate who is at the moment sitting in her temple in the Underworld.

"I give him permission of serving for half a year. As for Persephone, I'll just talk to her later on."

'...Hecate, you unreliable teacher!'

Hecate frowned slightly and glanced at Jason, who is standing expressionlessly beside her projection. After observing him for a few moments, she turned her head and said to Demeter: "But in return for this I hope you can agree to a small condition of mine."

"I hope that you can guarantee that he will not have an accident in the next six months and that you will give me some of the rare herbs I need."

Demeter is the Goddess of Harvest, Fertility, Grain, Growth, and Agriculture.

She can make the earth dry and everything withers under her anger and grief. And, she can also make everything grow rapidly.

Demeter can grow any type of rare herbs in moments by just consuming some divine power.

'...Damn it!'

'I can tell, my good teacher, you have definitely sold me out for some herbs, right?!

Hecate cast another glance at Jason.

Although she didn't hear anything from Jason and he is still looking the same, Hecate is continuously feeling that he is thinking something bad about her.

"No problem."

After a short thought, Demeter nodded and agreed to Hecate's request.

After all, in her opinion, these are indeed trivial matters.

Seeing this, Jason can only feel tired in his heart.

'Tiring.'

'It's really tiring to have such an unreliable teacher watching over me!'

At this point, even Jason's 'parent' Hecate has spoken, so Hestia will naturally not object.

Still, just because of some worries in her heart, Hestia plans to stay here for a few days, which finally made Jason feel very moved.

******

On the other side, after removing the projection, Hecate immediately called Medea over.

"Teacher Hecate, is Brother Jason back?" Medea asked impatiently after arriving in front of Hecate.

"No... But don't worry, I'll let you meet your good brother soon." Hecate looked in exasperation at Medea, who has met Jason only for a short time but already become like this.

"Demeter has forgiven him, but the condition is that he needs to serve her for half a year, which also happens to be an opportunity."

"Medea, you have been studying from me for more than a year and you have already learned about the general potions. So, as Jason's senior, this time, in place of teacher, you will go to Demeter and teach him what you have learned."

"I will also give you some seeds and some special potion formulas later on. You can make Jason with his sweeter mouth, ask Demeter for a medicinal field, then prepare these potions and let him drink."

After Medea obediently and carefully looked at what has been given to her, she looked at Hecate in puzzlement and asked: "Teacher, are these...?"

"Although Jason's body has been washed by the Styx and even his soul has been tempered by the unquenchable flame, his body is still that of a human, and needs to be changed from both inside and outside, otherwise he will not be able to withstand the Divine Flame of Olympus."

"Originally, it would have taken me several years to slowly look for these herbs for strengthening him, but with Demeter's help everything would become much easier."

"Oh, I got it, teacher." As soon as Medea heard that it is good for Jason, Medea immediately stored everything carefully and nodded obediently to Hecate.

Hecate then continued giving instructions to Medea: "Persephone is my good friend and has allowed Jason to call her sister, so Demeter will not make things too difficult for you, and may even be very good to you."

"So you can ask Jason to collect more rare herbs and materials for me."

"As for how you will enter the temple where Demeter is living now... When you leave Underworld, you can go to a town sheltered by Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom, and find Athena."

"She'll be happy to help you because I think she should now be going crazy trying to figure out what has happened. "

As Hecate said this, she couldn't help but smile.

'Jason has escaped her plans and it is the second time all her plans are made useless. For a Goddess of Wisdom who had almost never faced failure in her schemes, it would be hard for her to not get mad.'

"Also when you see Jason, tell my good student pretending to be obedient to become a little more obedient, and not think that now with the protection of Underworld, I don't know what he is thinking!"

As Medea listened to this, then watched Hecate gritting her teeth, she couldn't help but snicker in her heart.

Finally, Hecate suddenly sighed and said to Medea: "The last thing, remember telling him to not play some unnecessary cleverness, after all, he is my student, and I didn't say some things are for his own good..."

"Forget it, let him figure it out, I have already said what I should say, if he really wants to seek the truth, although I won't tell him, I won't stop him either."

After she explained everything and Medea left the underworld, Hecate, who is sitting alone in the temple, originally thought that she could finally relax and do her own experiments without having to worry about those troublesome things.

Who would have known that after a few experiments, the results were all nothing, explosions, or even bigger explosions...

"Aaaah... I'm so annoyed, why do I care about whether the gods are dead or alive, which path he chooses to take has nothing to do with me!"

Hecate irritably slapped the thing in her hands on the table.

"Evil scoundrel, I really accepted a scoundrelous student, I shouldn't have cared about this little bastard in the first place!"
