Chapter 6: Things are getting interesting...
after I woke up I was expecting to be unable to move because of yesterday's tortu-i mean training, that's why I was surprised to find that I was fine, my muscles still hurt a bit but it wasn't that bad, it could be the effect of mana but I'm not sure...
after stretching a bit, I got up and noticed that I was in my room in the inn, it seemed that uncle max brought me here.
as usual, I greeted catty, ordered breakfast, then started eavesdropping, it seemed that a well-renowned knight came to town with a squad of knights and a mage, after thinking a bit I found that this visit is unusual, why would a knight come with a squad and a mage to this boring town.
something is up...
just as I was about to finish breakfast, a group of 3 rowdy knights came to the inn." hahaha we're finally here! we spent 3 days coming here and I miss the taste of beer!"
the 3 knights ordered beer and started drinking and laughing loudly, they made a lot of noise but people just ignored them, but after drinking 4 cups of beer, the drunken knight started harassing the waitress which was catty.
"hey cutie, why don't you have a drink with us?" said the knight as he started to lust over the cat girl.
"I'm sorry, I don't drink..." catty was obviously uncomfortable that she even forgot her signature nya.
"HUH?! Did I ask?" the knight said angrily as he tried to grab catty, "hey wait a min-"
just as his friends tried to stop him I activated 'accelerate' subconsciously and grabbed the knight's hand.
"and who do you think you are?!"
hearing his question, I only smiled at him"you're about to find out" just as I said this I punched him in the face, making him fall to the ground and breaking the table in the process.
surprisingly, the knight only smiled and said" how about we find out then, I challenge you to a duel!"
"here we go again"the knight's friends only sighed as if this was a daily occurrence for them.
I, of course, accepted" let's go then", we went outside and he handed me a sword" arm yourself, or you'll just say that you lost because you were armless" we then stared at each other, no one made a move.
seeing that he was not going to move I took the initiative, from the blow I gave him earlier, I knew he is strong enough to take my punch, so I activated 'accelerate' to the max, then went for a vertical cut aiming for his head.
the knight parried my attack with his sword, (he is far stronger than me), then he stepped forward and delivered a horizontal strike to my neck, (but strength isn't everything), thanks to 'accelerate' i was faster than him, so I was able to dodge it, I then kicked him back and took a thrusting motion, and dashed forward.
just as the knight was about to block it, I quickly raised the sword and cut downwards, making his sword fall from his hand, "a feint?!"
"yup, and you fell for it" I snickered as I pointed the sword at his throat," alright, you win" the knight gave up, even tho he was drunk, a duel is a sacred thing among the knights, and the loser must respect the winner.
"I'm sorry for my friend's actions" after hearing the voice the 3 knights paled and saluted immediately" good morning sir!"
"good morning indeed...I guess my training is still easy for you guys, maybe I should make it harder"
I could see the knight trembling at the silver-haired knight's words," we're sorry sir, it was Andrew's fault, we tried to calm him but he was too drunk"
the two knights tried to escape from the incoming punishment and left Andrew to take the blame, it was his fault after all.
"*sigh* alright, just don't do it again"
the man then looked at me, after our eyes met, I knew that this man was on another level,
just his gaze alone was able to put pressure on me, I started sweating and I could feel my breath becoming rougher and rougher.
the knight smiled at this" good! you're still standing even under my pressure, your will is strong huh... what's your name?"
thankfully the knight lifted the pressure or I wouldn't be able to talk," shouldn't you introduce yourself first?" I said not backing down and keeping eye contact.
"oh? hahaha, sorry about that, my name is Ronald Silverfield, a peak-stage gold-ranked knight, and who might you be?"
I could already tell that this man has a strong background, he might be my chance to enroll in the academy, I grinned in my mind" I am Leon Reid...that's it" I smiled embarrassingly.
"so you're unranked? and you were able to beat a bronze-leveled Knight? even tho he was drunk it's still quite an achievement, I could see that you are talented so how about you join me and go back with me to the human kingdom after I finish a mission of mine."
YES! " hmm...alright! can I join you in your mission?"
"the mission is quite simple you see, we detected a low leveled demonic being in the forest, so we were tasked with investigating and then eliminating the being, as this is an easy mission I took a couple of knights and a mage so they could have experience, I see no problem if you joined us."
"great! so, when will we go there?" just as I said this I got hit in the head," why the rush? we just came from a long journey and we are tired so we will finish the mission after a week"
as we were talking, a girl my age came from the crowd and stood beside sir Ronald," oh, great timing! Leon, this is my daughter Alice, Alice this is Leon, he'll be joining us so I hope you two get along"
"Hello, my name is Noriko, nice to meet you..." Noriko greeted me but it was weird, it was as if she couldn't express her emotions properly, so her greeting was a bit lacking.
other than that, I could proudly say that she was the most beautiful girl I've ever seen till now, she had long silver hair that looked like silk, and silver eyes that reminded me of the moon, her skin was so white you'll think she was sick, but overall she is beautiful.
"My name is Leon, it's nice to meet you too" I smiled and greeted her back.
"well then let us go inside the inn" just like that, Ronald booked rooms for his knights and mage and booked one for him and Noriko which was in front of my room, so I'll be seeing them every day, not that I complain.
he also paid for the damage we caused and paid a bit extra as an apology, the other knight whose name was Kevin also apologized to catty.
catty also thanked me for standing up for her by giving me free meals and a free stay for a week.
after entering my room again to change my now dirty clothes (which I *bought* yesterday), I smiled, things are getting interesting.
