Chapter 1: Happy 18th

I wake up to the sound of the alarm ringing in my ear sounding two different messages. 1 it's time to wake up and 2 my 18th birthday is here signaling that I'll now be kicked out of the orphanage and sent on my way to try to survive in this world. I head down to the cafeteria area and grab my last food I'll ever get from it and sit down. Hey Sam isn't it your 18th today aren't you excited my friend elizabeth says in a chery voice. not really because now I don't have a place to stay I mean this isn't the greatest place on earth but it's where I grew up. after chatting for awhile I set off to the head office to speak with the main caretaker where she hands me a certain amount of cash to make sure I can somewhat live after leaving as well as hands me a suitcase with my clothes packed lastly she says. Samantha it's been a pleasure to have you these last 18 years and personally I'm sad we have to see you go If things were different I would much prefer you stay but unfortunately even I can't change government rules no matter how hard I try I just want to let you know I understand you don't really like using your powers but in the world your heading out to it's going to be nessasary to use them so I bought you these. she hands me a pair of gloves and a weird looking sword handle without a blade I eye her weirdly as I put the fingerless gloves on and hold the bladeless sword. I can see the confusion on your face I'll explain the reasons behind why ive given you these items. Your ability to control the electricity and moisture in the air is quite the hard ability to master but I thought the sword could help by conducting a current through the gloves into the sword it will make a elemental blade of ice or lightning it won't take much control to do but the sword and gloves are quite expensive I know you never liked having money spent on you but we want you to stay safe out there hopefully you can find someone to teach you how to use your abilitys cause we never could and hopefully you'll learn how to use your new gifts I wish we could see you off but rules state after we've given you your belongings your to leave so hopefully one day will meet again under better circumstances. with that I take my stuff and leave as I open the doors I look out onto the streets were kids are hiting each other with a wide array of powers and people are everywhere as I start to walk off I sadly say under my breath happy 18 to me.
