Chapter 14: I Prefer Feasts As Well

Just as then, his lips greeted hers with warmth. He had soft lips that touched hers pleasantly. As their lips intertwined, Selestia felt a sudden urge to greet him back. The supposed kiss turned passionate to both people who scarcely even knew each other.

Though it had ended, Selestia could still feel his lips on hers even if he already had pulled away. The large audiences applauded them joyously. "All hail, our Emperor! All hail, the Empress! All hail!" they yelled with such celebration.

Subsequently, the ceremony ceased and the festive arose. The Thuheldians came to greet her with abundant gifts.

The noblemen gifted her several golds that came from Thuhelda's mines, some children offered themselves as her servants, bread, food, fruits, and all that could be given was gifted to her. They greeted her with praise and welcome as the newly crowned Empress of Thuhelda.

The music fiddled loudly among the streets of Thuhelda, some couples danced their feet til they grew sore with joy, and children who'd played with excitement. It was as if their thirst for such a bizarre and massive feast had been sufficed.

Selestia could not hide her contentment, her gazes passionately observed the happy faces of the people. She rose from her seat in surprise, Venemiah's eyes oddly gazed at her as she smiled widely at him.

"May I have this dance?" she curtsied.

Her eyes gleamed, her hands stretched toward him and her countenance was bound with such enjoyment. Venemiah chuckled, he bent his head down and grinned. He lift his apertures toward her as he spoke.

"It would be rude of me to decline the request of my newlywed empress, would it?"

"You tell, Emperor. How would your subjects look at you if you turn down such loving requests of mine? Especially now that we have gained such an audience…" she snickered.

Her eyes roamed sideways, she glanced toward the number of people who were gazing at them with anticipation. Tensed as they were, Selestia supposed that this emperor had turned down invitations such as this.

'I supposed he would turn this down as well. Would I be humiliating myself?' She snickered and thought to herself.

He sprung up his seat, he stood before Selestia. His bloodthirsty, hazel eyes drowned within her presence, and smiled which surprised the number of audiences. As always, the frigid emperor never caught a smile not even once, not until now.

"Apologies, my Empress. How impolite of me."

Selestia tilted her head, confused. "I should have been the man, allow me to have this dance with you, Empress Selestia of Thuhelda."

He bent down and bowed, this sign of respect exhibited one's admiration for the other, Selestia was rather caught off guard seeing him do such an act. Selestia's smile widened, she placed her hand on his which he raised as he bowed.

"Pleasure is all mine…"

The Emperor stood thereupon and looked at her, his hand clasped on hers, gently, he gave a subtle kiss on her hand that made her heart flutter. For certain, this emperor could sweep a woman off her feet, and that he did to Selestia, but Selestia was never naive, she knew she shouldn't fall. She shouldn't bind herself with him for the sake of her schemes which involved the future.

"Shall we?"

They made their way to the center of the hall, in between all those who danced, Venemiah gently placed his right hand on her waist as their left collided with each other. Her right on his shoulder, the music started to play soothingly as both danced their hearts out together.

"I heard you turned every other request to dance with you…" Selestia snickered, she vied to start a conversation, it was after all needed to learn how the Emperor acted in a conventional pattern.

"I did…" he shortly responded.

"Then why is it that you have not turned mine down?"

"I was pleased to dance with you. You are my Empress, certainly, I would take the chances of dancing with you…"

"Is that so? I thought you feared the scene…" she implied.

He chuckled. "I caused a scandal, did I?"

Selestia peeked at his face which he lowered whilst he divulge a subtle chuckle.

"I'll be gleeful to put up with all your scandal…" he smiled.

"My life is a scandal…" she jested.

"My, how unexpected. It seemed we have something in common, then…" he teased in return.

The two unexpectedly communed well with each other. Their night was crammed with celebration and joy. Selestia poured her time into expressing herself to the people of Thuhelda, she knew that fun was only secondary to her plans, though she happily enjoyed it as she carried her schemes out.

She grew exhausted but it seemed that the people had not grown wary of their celebration, she giggled as she paced toward her seat where Venemiah overlooked everything.

"I knew not how Thuheldian's could be this cheerful…" she spoke whilst sitting down.

Her eyes darted to Venemiah who was silent. "It was a surprise that the people are like this despite you being such their opposite…"

"Am I?" He nonchalantly uttered.

"From what I heard you were frigid…"

"What about based on what you see today?" He looked at her with anticipation for her response.

"You were frigid, indeed."

He chuckled. His chuckle soon evolved into a boisterous laughter that soon he resolved with silence. "I knew not that you were this playful…"

"Well, did you know me?"

He looked up at the chandeliers that hung on the ceiling, his smile was apparent to her watches. Gradually, he glanced at her once again…

"I supposed I did…"

"You supposed?" she scoffed. It seemed like this Emperor had run a thorough background check on me."

"I don't want to be clueless about the woman I vie to marry…"

'Well, I surmise this Emperor does have some sense. At first, I thought he was a stale man only to reveal he was only one and twenty years old, only three years older than I was. I do hope we get along, Emperor…'

Behind her thoughts was the sinister she vied to exhibit. Greed, concern, and desires, that's all that it took for her to master such a plan.

"You seemed to be wary of yourself during feasts…" she peered closely at him.

"I did not grow to be around many, I deem."

"I see. An emperor who was not present during banquets and feasts, that was a new discovery…"

His face was still yet focused on the bright light of the chandeliers that hung off the ceiling. His ears listened closely to what she had to say, surely he was attentive to every little detail she spoke of.

"Feasts were never new and never old, are they not? Sometimes they bore you, at the same time they gave you pleasurable leisure."

Her eyes also gazed at where he looked.

"I grew fond of them, eventually…"

Venemiah watched as she pleasantly looked her eyes on the wonders of the ceiling with eyes that blissfully glistened. The side of her face was the view he had discerned and somehow it bore a sense of feeling within his chest.

"I prefer feasts as well…"
