Usually, Miurian greeted me with an earnest, wide smile. But today, he seemed subdue, and his gaze solemn. His bright blond hair, which was usually meticulously combed, looked a bit more all natural, as though he'd ran his hands through it a dozen times. He also had shadows beneath his eyes.

"You look sleepy," I said as way of greeting.

"I have had a bit on my mind to toss and turn over," he said with bounce of his head. "I also had a feeling you would come today. If...if you'd come with me."

"Another blessing?"

His smile was stiff as he put a finger briefly to his mouth, glancing to the side. I followed his gaze to see another priest walking down the row of benches, stopping to greet one of the few patrons that had come to pray.

Remembering what Miurian had told me about corruption in the priesthood growing in recent years, I tightened my jaw and did my best not to look suspicious. Miurian started to lead me, though he stopped when he noticed Gus tagging along behind me.
