Chapter 8: Ice magic

Sun Li Jun had a point here though. Lee Nari looked sad and disappointed to hear such uncaring words from Sun Li Jun. But, it was a different story for Lee Kwang-Sun.

Despite being irritated by the young male's blunt words, Lee Kwang-Sun urged his sister to log out of the game for a while.

" No.... brother... no.... I'm really fine.

It just hurts a little bit.

I mean.....it's not even my first time. I often get injured every time I confront a high level monster.

You might not know this since you keep playing with your own teammates all the time. I simply tend to get wounded several times before I can levelup, so it's really okay. "

"Fine then."

Lee Kwang-Sun finally stopped forcing his sister to log out. Instead, he took out a small blue bottle of health potion from his system storage space and gave it to his sister.

Despite being a level-20 player, Lee kwang-Sun couldn't help frowning as he saw his stats on system panel decreasing little by little with time due to penalty.

Right now, there were almost no gamer to control the enraged boss. Many players in the village were left with little HP and some even got unfortunately terminated.

'I can't sit still and watch my stats getting decreased just like this. Before they come, I've gotta do something to distract the boss.

Wait.....I can .....I can trap this beast with my ice magic. '

Lee Kwang-Sun took a glance outside the damaged tavern where he was in right now. Currently, the boss was ripping apart an NPC's head from his body with its giant dagger-like claws. Crimson blood were everywhere on the village streets. And the sight of dead villager NPCs and their torn body parts was not something you would be very happy to see while having some snacks.

This was one of the things Lee Kwang-Sun hated about 'War Cry Online'. These damn unsightly corpses were just NPCs. If they died, why didn't they just disappear after a couple of minutes?

Why would he need to witness all these hideous scenes which were going to come back at him as some nightmares?

Granted, it's not like Lee Kwang-Sun had never seen dying NPCs in other virtual games either. But, in 'War Cry Online', this problem was on another whole new level. These so-called NPCs were so damn realistic.

What's more? He could even smell the corpses' stinky blood. Although Lee Kwang-Sun had been playing 'War Cry Online' for more than a month, these things were not something he could get used to.

Mumbling some words, Lee Kwang-Sun started to cast an elemental spell as he hid behind the tavern's walls.

He had been observing this monster boss for quite a while. As so damn giant and intimidating as its build was, the boss didn't lag behind in the aspect of its agility either.

Lee Kwang-Sun only had the ability of a mage right now, not that of a fighter. If the boss spotted him and rushed towards him, and if he had to confront this monster in close-combat with none of his teammates to cover him, Lee Kwang-Sun would be at a huge disadvantage. That's why although he was about to use a magic spell on the boss, Lee Kwang-Sun chose not to foolishly show up and was hiding himself like this.

But, Lee Kwang-Sun failed to recall that, this black bear-type boss would naturally have a high perception stats as it was obviously more powerful than him.

Lee Kwang-Sun was yet to finish casting the spell when the boss somehow managed to sense his espel energy coming from the inside of the tavern.

Leaving behind a bloody corpse, the black bear-type monster silently went over to the tavern.

It was then Lee Kwang-Sun realized something was off as noises from outside came to a sudden hault.

The closer noises of the boss' steps resounded, the faster his heart thumped. Lee Kwang-Sun was now standing just beside the entrance of the tavern. If only he tilted his head a bit and looked outside, he and the monster boss might even met eyes right away.

Lee Kwang-Sun shifted a bit further from the entrance. But....

He unfortunately made a wrong move by stepping on a broken wine glass on the tavern floor.

A sudden spine-chilling roar came from outside the tavern. It was then Lee Kwang-Sun realized just how close the boss was already to the tavern right now.

"Holy Shit! "

Lee Kwang-Sun instantly got down on his knees and struck the ground with his right fist. Blasts of ice instantly shot off in the direction of the boss. The monster didn't seem to have prepared for such an attack.

Just as the blasts hit the boss' limbs, its whole gigantic body was immediately covered by a layer of freezing ice, turning the boss into a frozen popsicle in a couple of seconds.

"Brother! You're so powerful! "

The injured Lee Nari who was sitting and hiding in the corner of the tavern couldn't help praising her brother with pleasant surprise. All the injured gamers, who were hiding in nearby buildings, were completely taken aback by this scene. Just like Lee Nari, they also couldn't help cheering and complimenting this powerful gamer who just appeared out of nowhere and made the boss a frozen popsicle in a flash.

Despite constant praises of other gamers, Lee Kwang-Sun didn't relax a bit. He cautiously stepped outside the tavern to inspect how long his ice prison would be able to hold the boss frozen up inside.

Just as he was inspecting, Lee Kwang-Sun spotted traces of cracks forming in the ice. His expression instantly crumpled.

Freezing layer of ice which was trapping the boss inside, suddenly shattered into several fragments, followed by a creepy roar of the boss which sent chills down everyone's spine.

"Lee Nari !! Run!! "

Although this was simply a game, it's still heart aching to see one's own sibling getting killed or terminated by a creepy monster, especially in an almost realistic place like 'War Cry Online'.

With the enraged boss suddenly rushing into the tavern to kill the culprit who just dared to freeze it up, all the other gamers hiding in the building immediately rushed outside.

That's right. These gamers were not really dying here. Worse case scenario, only their game characters would get terminated from 'War Cry Online'. But, if that actually happened and they lost their beloved game characters which they had been painstakingly trying hard to level up for a very long time, those unfortunately players would need to start from level-1 once again. And this level-1 thing was exactly their biggest nightmare. That's why every gamer was acting as if running for their life right now.

Lee Kwang-Sun was about to run towards his sister to help her get outside only to see the spot where Lee Nari was sitting just before being completely empty. With her injured arm and legs, how did she manage to escape that fast?

Lee Kwang-Sun got his answer when he heard his sister's voice from the outside of the tavern.

"Brother, I'm okay. This gege helped me. "

It was Sun Li Jun who helped her.

Lee Kwang-Sun let out a sigh of relief. Now, in the tavern, it was only him and the boss.

"Great....

Let see how long I can hold on under the attack of this powerful monster. "
