Chapter 3: Fight

The sound of our hotel door being slammed open made us snap our heads in its direction.

Aries was back on his feet taking a protective stance in front of me.

It was the two wolves from earlier and this time they were brought back up.

"Give us the girl and we won't cause you any trouble," my eyes widened at the sound of Jason's voice.

"Leave now and I won't kill all of you," Aries growled out.

"Aries?" one of the wolves walked in front of Jason, "where the hell have you been? Your father has been looking for you for weeks,"

Aries let out a low growl, "tell him to fuck off," he said.

"Arie-" the guy was about to speak but Aries cut him off, "Micheal get the fuck out of my hotel room before I kill you this time,"

The Michael guy looked furious and was about to speak but Jason placed a hand on his shoulder and spoke up first, "you're here as a courtesy and back up in locating Alpha Greene's daughter, not to start a fight with your Alpha's son,"

Jason walked around Michael and came to stand in front of Aries who let out a warning growl when he got too close to me.

My eyes widened in realization and I looked up at Aries in shock at the fact that he was an Alpha's son.

Had he run away too?

I wonder why he would run; he must have been next in line to run his pack.

"Rose, your father's worried sick about you," Jason said, "you need to come home,"

I shook my head, "I don't have to do anything and I'm definitely not going back," I said with certainty and confidence I didn't know I could pull off.

"Rosabella," Jason started but Aries jumped in,

"If she doesn't want to go she won't go," Aries used his wolf's voice to speak.

When an Alpha uses his wolf to speak in human form, the people around him have no choice but to listen unless they want to challenge his authority and die in a fight.

Everyone except for Jason showed their neck to Aries in acknowledgment.

Most of those wolves were in what I'm assuming was Aries' pack but Jason didn't give a damn and the idiot decided to speak back to Aries when he was ready for a fight.

"I don't care what you do but Rosabella comes home with me," Jason said before moving in a blur to get around Aries and yanking me by the arm to pull me away from Aries.

"Hey, let go!"I screamed, pulling my arm out of his grip.

He stared at me in shock because I was able to force his grip off of me but he recovered quickly and before I could run back to Aries he grabbed me again.

Did I mention Jason was the fastest wolf in my pack?

"Release her," Aries said, "or you die pup,"

When Jason ignored him and went to turn away from Aries chaos erupted.

Everything around me was happening way too fast but somehow I had been ripped away from Jason and pushed into a wall.

I groaned when my back made contact with the wall and I slid halfway down before catching myself.

I wasn't sure if Jason had pushed me or Aries had ripped me away but either way I let out another groan in pain from the impact and continued sliding down the wall until my butt hit the ground.

The other wolves in the room just watched in disbelief at Jason who had just challenged an Alpha.

They were moving way too fast for my eyes to keep up with so I gave up trying to make sense of the fight.

I'm sure the movements were clear to everyone else but to me, they looked like two blurry blobs moving around way too fast.

I tried to speak up but I was still a bit winded.

I groaned again from the pain but got up and realized my arm had popped out of its socket.

It now made more sense than Aries had thrown me away from Jason who had gripped my arm so hard it popped as I was thrown.

I grabbed my arm but was too scared of the pain to move it back in place.

When I looked back up at the guys fighting in front of me they had stopped moving and Aries was on top of Jason who had a bloody face.

Their fangs and claws were extended but Jason's fangs were retracting as a sign that his wolf was in conflict with his human side about fighting an Alpha.

That made Jason extremely vulnerable and if he didn't submit, Aries would kill him.

Just as I thought that Aries raised a clawed hand and I screamed in horror.

Aries paused with his claws just about to slice at Jason's throat.

He looked right at me to see if I was okay, "don't kill him," I said through tears and Jason took the distraction as an opportunity to push Aries off of him.

Aries growled and he moved in a blur in front of me before I could even process what was happening. He picked me up and he ran out of there.

No wolf from his pack stopped him and Jason wasn't in the condition to follow.

We made it to his bike when I realized I was still crying.

He ignored me putting his helmet on my head.

He jumped on his motorcycle and waited for me to jump on, "I-I can't hold on," I said holding my arm which was still popped out of its socket.

Without saying a word he was in front of me and in a blur he grabbed my arm and pushed it up.

I screamed and more hot tears streamed down my face.

He picked me up and placed me in front of him on the bike.

Before I knew it we were speeding through multiple towns again.

Eventually, we had ditched the motorcycle which I thought he was fond of but as it turns out he had stolen it.

I wasn't okay with him stealing a car so he called a friend who lent him some money and a car.

We were currently driving that car and speeding down a two-lane road in the middle of what felt like nowhere.

We were surrounded by trees and had only seen one car in the last hour.

"Where are we going?" I finally asked, looking at him.

He had a hard grip on the steering wheel and he didn't look like he wanted to talk.

"Aries, please talk to me," I said, "If you don't I'll go crazy," we hadn't really said much to each other after what had happened at the hotel.

It was clear that we both had things to say to each other but he didn't seem open to having the conversation just yet.

"Fine you wanna play the silent game," I crossed my arms "trust me I can beat you there asshole,"

I was only getting angrier and angrier at him for not talking.

He let us sit in silence for a few minutes before he finally spoke, "everything's changed for me now," he almost whispered it but it was loud enough for me to hear him.

I looked at him but his eyes remained glued to the road in front of him.

"What do you mean?" I was confused.

"I have to go back," he said, "I can't stay on the run with you forever,"

What he said caught me off guard, "wait, what? No! Where are you taking me?" I looked around at all the trees we were zipping past.

"It's too dangerous," he said, "us being mates changes everything and I'm not risking you getting hurt because I don't have you under the protection of a pack,"

I stared at him like a fish out of water not knowing how to respond to that.

I had run away from the protection of my dad's pack and found a mate just to end up back under another person's protection.

All this and I had only spent one day free from the cage made of gold my dad had built me.

Now more than ever I felt the need to leave and experience the world outside of pack life especially since I couldn't even shift.

"I don't want to," I whispered, "you didn't even ask me," I said a little louder.

He glanced at me for a few seconds before turning his attention back to the road, "there was nothing to ask,"

"You don't even care," I looked out of the window and tried to hold back tears, "you don't even know why I left," I continued.

"It doesn't matter anymore," he said, "you're with me now so you can forget about everything in your old life,"

"I don't even get a say in my own life then?" I said angrily, wiping away a few tears that crept down my face.

"I'm not giving you a choice," he said, "the second I found out you were mine was the second you no longer had a choice,"

I was about to speak when I realized that it didn't matter what I said.

He wasn't going to change his mind.

He didn't care how I wanted things to go and I was destined for a life full of men who thought I had to be locked away under lock and key.

He, like my dad, believed I was too fragile to be able to deal with the real world.

Nothing I could possibly say would get him to allow me freedom and I let that helpless feeling sink into the pit of my stomach again.

Thirty minutes passed before we made a sharp turn and suddenly stopped alongside the road.

He let out a long sigh before slamming his palm into the steering wheel making me jump.

"Why are you crying," he snapped and turned to look at me.

I didn't respond.

I hadn't realized that I had started crying but when he mentioned it I wiped my tears furiously and jumped out of the car.

"Where are you going?" He got out of the car and I crossed my arms, continuing to walk away from him.

"Anywhere but here," I screamed back at him without turning around.

"You don't even know where this is," he followed after me.

"I don't care," I replied, "Someone will drive by eventually,"

"And what?" he could have easily caught up to me but he trailed behind me.

"I'll ask for a ride,"

He laughed without humor, "oh yeah?" he appeared in front of me and let me run into his chest, "a ride where?"

I glared up at him, "anywhere you aren't,"

"Do you have any idea how dangerous it is to hitchhike,"

I rolled my eyes, "guess I'll find out," I stepped around him but he didn't let me go any further.

Before I knew it I was over his shoulder and he was walking me back to the car.

"Put me down you asshole," I slapped his back but he didn't even flinch.

He sat me on the hood of the car and leaned over so he was eye level, "why did you run away,"

I shook my head, "none of your business,"

"You're my mate," he said through his teeth, "anything that has to do with you is my business,"

We glared at each other for a long time, neither willing to look away.

Something fell on my forehead making me look up and break eye contact.

More drops of water began falling on my face before it started pouring.

I sighed and looked back at him and he was still staring at me as if trying to read into everything I was thinking.

"I ran away because my father never lets me go out,"

He raised an eyebrow, "so you're an ungrateful brat,"

"What's wrong with you," I screamed and shoved him away from me, "I'm not a brat," the rain began to pick up and a thunder strike made us both jump at the loud cracking sound.

"Ugh," I pushed my wet hair away from my face, "if I'm a brat, what are you? You ran away from your pack," I walked up to him and poked at his chest angrily, "what kind of alpha leaves his pack behind,"

I glared up at him, "a coward," I said.

He growled and grabbed my wrist, "do not disrespect me," I rolled my eyes.

"And what are you doing to me with the name-calling? Flirting?" I screamed at him and he pulled me closer.

I thought he would scream back at me but instead, he did the complete opposite.

He kissed me.

My eyes widened and I pulled back, "are you bipolar or something?"

He shook his head and offered a tired smile, "you don't know how long I've spent thinking I would never find a mate," he laughed, "and here you are arguing with me but I don't want to rip your head off,"

I frowned, "you don't make any sense,"

"I never said I was taking you to my pack," he replied.

"Wait what?"

"I need to keep you safe and keep people from knowing who you are to me," he said, "I can't do that with you and I both on the run,"

I stared at him at a loss for words.

"I'm taking you to meet some close friends," he shook his head, "close friends you should have met a long time ago,"

I gave him a weird look, "oh yeah, you're completely bonkers," I shook my head, "I'm mated to a lunatic,"

He laughed a genuine laugh this time, "you're the crazy one runny away from home with no idea what the world is like,"

I frowned, "I would say I'm quite brave,"

"And I would say that's wishful thinking," he replied, "come on getting in the car before you catch a cold,"

I crossed my arms stubbornly, "no," I said.

He stood with the passenger door open for me, "no?" he frowned, "you know I can force you inside,"

"Just tell me where we are going," I groaned, annoyed.

"I told you," he walked over and pulled my arm towards the door, "I'm taking you to meet my close friends,"

"Yeah but why did you say that I should have already met them a long time ago," I asked as he closed my door and sped over to the driver's seat.

"Because Alpha Greene should have formally introduced you to everyone when you turned," he started the car, "I'm guessing since you never turned, he never thought to introduce you to the other royal wolves,"

I made a face, "I don't like meeting new people,"

"Don't worry, I know you'll get along with them," he said, speeding away.
