Chapter 2: Prologue
"Magic" such a simple yet complicated word. Some believe that magic is an ancient art sent from the gods to help mankind, some believe that magics are the works of the devil and witches who seek human destruction. While others choose not to believe, rather they search within their limitations to prove that magic is a default setting in our minds when we experience the impossible.
Throughout the ages this concept has brought about the incarceration of praticioners , who choose to abandon their sense of self and plunge head first into the vast unknown of spells , sigils and hexes, as such this carefree attitude instituted an insatiable drive for power which made people do unholy things just to be called a mage or sorcerer.
It seemed rather practical at the time until it happened , the day magic fought back against it's users, thus changing the world's entire state of being. With the entirety of it's population instantly splitting into different parts so also did their magic.
Through the efforts of the sci-mage society, the following
findings surfaced.
- Magic has split unevenly into;
- Mage magic.
- Alchemic magic.
- Runic or Ring magic.
- Dark magic.
- Holy magic.
- Totem magic.
- Morphology magic (race magic)
- Magic as a source of energy appears in four forms;
- Ki energy.
- Runic energy.
- Chakra energy.
- Nexus energy.
And although magic is an unlimited source of natural energy, the body isn't a perfect vessel, which doesn't allow for steady absorbtion. This singular fact separates strong mages from mediocre one's.
- All magic comes at a price. And although some prices may come at a later date, it's existence cannot fade.
- All creatures have some level of magic, what differs is their structural components which makes absorbtion and use of this energy to differ among them.
As if the world wasn't damaged enough, the beasts appeared; creatures so filled with magic that it distorted there minds and made them subjects to the very basic rules of nature which were predation and survival. For over a century, they rampaged all over the world after years of incessant breeding. Their numbers were enough to strike at every continent in the world, their hierarchy had a few semblances with that of mages with the differences being the Omega, Baron and Demon ranks of their assembly.
After years of continuos wars and destruction, the sci- mage society put forward a few theories pertaining to theri nature, some of which were;
- Although being mostly deranged, some hexi have shown signs of intelligence and in even rarer cases, they have been sightings of their use of magics which came as a result of their evolution and adaptation to their surroundings. These beasts are regarded as Omega level beasts and should not be taken lightly.
- The sci- mage society named these beasts " hexi " as it is a spell used to conjure evil spirits hence terming these beasts as unholy spirits.
- Some hexi are humanoid in nature which allows them to belong to most of the mage factions but no hexi has show the ability to cast spells, although they have access to magic, it is at a very base level.
- Hexi are believed to be controlled by an Demon level being know only as dregbane; the self proclaimed demon emperor who in turn is controlled by €¥¶¢ yes the dark one himself. So all we can do is to survive the scourge and hope that someday the great sages will arise to defeat him.
- The only way to kill a hexi is by decapitation or total inceneration because even if a single spore of their essence is left, they could eventually regenerate thorough it.
- The scariest thing about the hexi is that unlike humans, they have an unlimited supply of stamina allowing them to use magic even thought at its base form to the fullest not tiring for even a second. The only instance when a hexi has shown signs of fatigue is when they use a ridiculous amount of energy at once and even this fatigue last for only a few minutes, making them the perfect killing machine.
- The only faction the hexi aren't in is the holy mage faction as this faction consists of divine mages, archangels and goddesses.
- As every mage has his or her weaknesses, so also does every hexi have an akeles heel.
In an effort to combat this world wide cataclysmic event, the sci-mage society has built a number of academies where youths are trained in the hope of ending the nightmarish reality of our fates.
If you are reading this letter then you have been selected into one of these institutions, do not fear as you will receive the best of education and also be equiped with enough materials before been sent to face the hexi and bring glory to your Kingdom.
