Chapter 1: Chapter 1: In the shallow waters of Sanzu River

In the shallow waters of Sanzu River, a regal man with mysterious marks donned in pale orange-colored kimono, covered by a red haori.

Strands of hair were tightly bounded into a ponytail. His white hair made him look like an ancient entity. What made it a contradictive view was his young facial features strangely complementing his ashen long mane.

His unchanging stature was boosted by his pair of emotionless eyes as if even the scariest and most terrifying demons were to come out, it is not gonna be enough to faze him for a bit.

Sword-like brows that were perfectly placed to where they must be. He was not defyingly handsome but he was at least pleasing to look at.

Unhurriedly walking to find where he is right now, his black hakama got wet due to the gray liquid flowing in the ford.

"Oh! A newly arrived soul! You look familiar…but I cannot actually remember you, how strange!" A talkative demi-bird appeared, it is unknown if his avian face is his true one or if was it just a well-crafted mask that can make anyone that it was genuine skin.

His body looks human but his head was a bird with bluish feathers, paired with unusual green eyes. Dressed in an unkept kimono, he looks respectful yet lawless at the same time.

Looking at the half-bird, the man quietly looked but did not speak a word.

"Nevertheless, I was curious with your staunch back that seemed to have carried countless burdens, just how wonderful your life may have been?" the bird-like man's kimono fluttered silently in the windless place where they are, a truly peculiar sight.

Not wanting to waste any time, the mysterious man walked through, ignoring the boisterous bird. What happened next made him shiver.

An abominable bird with crimson eyes appeared and waved its wings, creating strong waves of wings.

"I am still talking, you foolish, care to hear me out now?" the bird threateningly spoke, sending chills to the man's spiritual body.

The aura of death quietly disappeared, and the cheerful voice of the avian man resounded.

"Wow, you are amazing! You may have been spooked but you already regained your bearing so fast, that's a first! This just made me more curious about you!"

Glancing at this bird, the man's unfocused eyes became focused as trickery seemed to be the very essence of this side of the bird. He wondered what that asura-like personality entails recently.

"Of course, I know to at fault that nothing is free in the world, so if you tell me your story, I will give it to you, hehehe," An evil snicker appeared on the bird's face, clearly the object in his hands is something harmful or it is something so precious that just laying one's hand on it will bring tremendous consequences.

Reminiscing on the bird's recent show of prowess, the man had no choice but to comply.

The man's lips which were precious as gold due to how minimal he speak, opened up, slowly telling the life he led in his life.

With a bright red sword valiantly killing scourges that roam the land, the bleak yet thrilling life of the man was completely exposed to the bird.

"Huff, that was an egregious adventure! To fight demonic creatures before you even reached the afterlife, you could even establish dominance in this desolate realm," The half-bird was all smiles.

"And that blue spider lily, to think that a variant of treasure that can only be found in the realm of the dead is in the world of the living, it looks like the Order were soon going to be thwarted," the bird's countenance took a turn then return to its initial view.

"Anyway, for that wonderful story, I'll give you this!" A gray lotus appeared that has a green loti core.

Illusions of lively fairies and menacing devils appeared, dancing on top of the twelve-leafed lotus, it was a wonderful sight.

The man looked unconcerned yet his gaze never left the lotus, aside from the demons he fought in the past, the mystery of this lotus made him curious about what actually it was.

Seeing the gleam in the man's eyes, the bird-headed man approached him and pointed at the lotus with his fingers.

"This lotus is called the Twelve-Leafed Lotus of Life and Death, it can evolve as the number of its leaves increased, becoming the Thirteen-Leafed Lotus of Samsara, and the Fourteen-Leafed Lotus of ******, oh it was filtered by the Grand Dao, it seemed that Taboos cannot be casually said to others," the bird-headed man crazily laughed as he scratched his head.

Without further ado, the man straightforwardly picked the lotus from the bird-headed's man hand. The bird-headed man did not disagree and let the man snatch it.

"How will the King of Hell react that the treasure of the Sages from the ruined Heavenly Realm, will go to a fleeting soul, just thinking it makes me so excited!" the bird-headed muttered quietly.

Scrutinizing the lotus, the man knew that this lotus just brings nothing but trouble. What was bizarre was that he knows what implications it may bring but there was an irresistible charm that provokes his very soul to grab it no matter what. The willpower he forged from the countless battles seemed to have no effect to fight back from the enchantment.

"Tengu!!"

Intense screech coming from multiple voices boomed.

"HEHEHE, there they are!" the bird-headed man, or rather Tengu, rapidly transformed into a gigantic bird with heaven-spanning wings, clasping the man's soul with its claws.

"Tengu! Do you think you can escape? Where is the Twelve-leafed Lotus of Life and Death?!" shadows of different sizes materialized, clearly with no good intent.

"Oh, you mean the soon-to-be Fourteen-Lotus of **********?" Tengu casually said.

"How did you have that knowledge?! Only we, the Ten Supremes and Five Sovereigns know that, but whatever, where the hell did you put the lotus?" the shadows became more enraged.

"You may have that naïve titles to flatter your butts but there are entities that can match your strength, and if we are talking about strength, I could even match the Three Paragons HAHAHAHA" Tengu valiantly laughed.
