Their faces were still inches apart, breaths entangling. Instead of her lips, he kissed her on the cheek before pulling away to look at her. She wasn't looking at him anymore. She had trained her eyes on the view outside the window.

"We could try again," Jacob said.

"I don't know what you want from me." Sutton replied in a quiet voice.

"I'll keep my word this time around. Six months and I'll set you free, Sutton Price." 

Sutton wasn't listening anymore. Something else was on her mind. She brought her eyes to him again, and her next words were not what he expected.

"What really happened to Perseus Castle?" 

Jacob's hand fell away from Sutton's. His adam apple bobbed as he searched her face.

He had the choice to lie.
