Chapter 43: Their arrival

The day of their arrival comes, and my heart feels like it is going to fall out of my chest. I had imagined bringing Col to my home, but not under these circumstances.

"Stop pacing," I tell Ashina immediately because her movement is giving me anxiety.

She pauses and raises her head with a scowl, "I am nervous, he is finally coming."

"I thought you were so sure. Why the nerves?"

"This has nothing to do with nerves. My mate is finally coming to see me. I have missed him."

I twinge at her words.

Fuck, that hurts a lot more than I wanted it to. I don't want her to have any claim whatsoever on him. I don't even want to think of her and him in that light. It sickens me completely and irreparably.
