Chapter 16: Chapter 16. Can You Do CPR on Aliens?

At the NYPD morgue, Weaver looked at the three new bodies brought in.

'Why do so many deaths happen only when I'm on duty?

After changing the clothes and turning on the recorder, Weaver stood in front of the body of an old man.

"The back of the head was pierced by a sharp object—suspected to be fatal. No other obvious wounds found on the surface of the body..."

'The murderer was said to have disguised himself as a waiter in a restaurant. After approaching the deceased, he quickly killed the deceased and snatched a box from the table with a clear purpose. Is he a professional killer?'

"Subject's temperature is approximately 112 degrees at the time of autopsy. Indicating an increase in body temperature..."

"Examiner attempted to verify the result of rectal bleeding... Only to find the subject was, uh, without rectum..."

'This is not right. How can a person not have that? It is understandable if you lack a finger or something, but this...'

Fighting back the tornado of questions in her mind, Weaver turned the body back over and started the autopsy.

The knife went down and cut open the abdomen, but it turned out to be empty—with no intestines and no other organs.

Weaver's scalpel almost fell to the ground. 'This is definitely not normal!'

She put down the scalpel, changed her pair of gloves and went to check the other body—the waiter.

Except for the waist, there was no other obvious injury. This person had a rectum, which relieved her.

'Something heavy must have been smashed on his lower back, resulting in a broken spine. His body was folded, but it had no other injuries. What could have caused such a big injury? Was it some sort of large mechanical device?'

Going forward with the autopsy, a cut was made, blood spurted slightly, and Weaver saw internal organs—with rotten kidneys—which was how it should normally be.

'Wait, that body just now, he didn't have any blood?!'

Like the first corpse, the third corpse didn't have many important organs in the body, and when the corpse was cut open, there was no blood at all. It was just like a human shell.

She suddenly heard a knock at the door. Two people were standing there—wearing black suits. They pushed the door open and came in. One was a white man, while the other was an Asian.

"Hold up there. I'm still doing an autopsy here. Who let you guys in?!" Weaver questioned loudly; she didn't like to be disturbed when she was working, especially when she had dissected two unusual corpses.

"Hello there. We're from the Department of Public Health. I'm Doctor Noah, and this is Doctor Carter." Noah's started spouting butter like smooth bullshit.

K turned his head to look at Noah. 'He's fast, I gotta give him that. Very promising.'

Weaver looked at her watch. It was almost 9:00 p.m.

"The Department of Public Health is still working at this hour? You two must be single, aren't you?"

Noah felt the jab right in his heart!

"Miss Weaver, looking how gorgeous you are, you must also be single. Maybe I can buy you a cup of coffee some time." This was the first ordinary person to believe his words at the police station. Noah was very fond of her, and she was also a beauty.

"Dr Noah, we're here to work," K warned. 'Professionals have standards...'

"Dr Weaver, we've been monitoring morgues very carefully. Tell me, do you have something unusual around here?" K asked.

"I'd say so, triple homicide. The first body I opened up was pretty normal, except that he was broken in half. But ah... when I opened up the other two- Well, let me show it to you."

'Alien corpses! We're going to see an alien corpse!' Noah was a little excited.

Weaver looked at Noah in amazement. 'What a creep. His eyes started shining when he heard that I was going to show him a corpse.'

"Their skeletal structure is unlike anything I've ever seen. Not to mention, there are problems with his internal organs."

K looked at the body in front of him, "I'll have a look at this one. Dr Noah, why don't you and Dr Weaver check out the other body?"

Weaver took Noah to see the body of the old man.

Just then, before the autopsy bed, an orange cat brushed up against Noah's feet.

[Ding!]

[Super energy source Galaxy detected.]

Noah's pupil narrowed. He saw a lantern-shaped pendant hanging around the neck of the orange cat and could faintly see some glowing lights turning inside it.

"That's your cat?"

"Guess it is now; it came in with the body. Let's talk about the body. When I checked it, I wanted to check the stomach first."

Weaver handed Noah a glove and motioned Noah to put the glove on and stick his hand into the body's abdomen.

"No, thank you, I'll just have a look from here." Noah craned his neck; the body's abdomen was practically empty.

"Did you see it? No internal organs, no blood. This is absolutely unnatural. Next, I'm going to do a craniotomy on the body. Come and help me."

"Uh~~ Wait a minute," Noah wore the gloves this time.

Weaver grabbed a tool and suddenly smiled at Noah, "Have we met before? You seem familiar."

Noah smirked, "Do you say that to all the men? Why don't you tell me your phone number, and I'll call you when I'm free this weekend?"

Weaver was a bit startled. "Do you think I'm flirting?"

"Anyway, let's just focus on him... You know what? Let's not call Doctor Carter over; he looks like he's already under enough stress. This body is not really a human body, but actually some sort of transport unit for something else altogether," she looked in the eyes of Noah and asked, "You must be thinking that I'm joking, right?"

"No, I believe in your professional judgment," Noah said seriously.

"Do you really believe in me?" Weaver, on the other hand, hesitated. In fact, she wasn't so confident about her own guess.

"Yes, I do."

Noah said so, reaching out to hold the old man's head.

Zi~~~

The two stepped back at the same time, 'Was this man's head boiling?' Some sort of white gas started flowing out.

A slight snap rang out, and the face of the old man started lifting up to the side like a mask, revealing what was inside.

Weaver's mouth gaped open. 'What am I seeing? There was a little green man inside? Although strange-looking, it had human features.'

'Why is this thing in the head of a corpse? It looks like there are a lot of machines inside. Is this really a corpse?'

"Are... are you seeing this?"

Noah nodded, "I'm seeing it. You weren't wrong. It really is a transport device... for him to get around."

"Hey there, little fella. I'm N, from the M.I.B. What happened to you? Were you attacked by a Bug?"

"Yes," Little man took a hard time taking a breath, "Must... to pre... prevent... contest... no..."

"War?" Noah added.

The tiny man nodded vigorously. "To prevent war... The 'galaxy' is on... Orion's... Be... Be... Be... what is the word...?"

Noah: "Belt?"

The tiny men nodded.

Noah: "..."

'What are you doing in Manhattan when your English is so poor?'

"You can speak your mother tongue if you want. Maybe I can understand it," Noah pointed to his ear.

"Yes, yes, uh ~~~"

The tiny man couldn't hold on as its head dropped back and the lights around him went off.

Noah looked at Weaver foolishly, "I'm afraid I have to ask... Can you perform CPR on aliens?"
