Chapter 55: IE: Chapter 55. Business Trip to Los Angeles.

"So, what are you searching for on the database? Looking for my twin? N, you're not brain damaged by an alien, are you? See? There's nothing. "J, pointing to the computer screen, on which it said that the search came up empty.

"Well, it was just a joke." Noah shrugged his shoulders. It seems that the M.I.B didn't monitor every single alien on the earth, and there may be more than 1,500 aliens on Earth.

"Such a lame joke. I'm going to bed. Are you going to stay on duty? Call me if you need back up or something." J yawned and went back to the dormitory.

When J left, Noah continued to search through the data, some of which had been put into a suspect file.

[Someone seeing a flying man in the sky at night.]

[A man called the police, claiming that someone overturned his car with their hands.]

[A man reported that someone smashed his window. He was suspected of insurance fraud.]

These were all from newspapers, but all three were local tabloids. The one who said there was a flying man in the sky at night, was a child who stayed up late at night playing video games. The final conclusion was that the child had spent too much time playing the game, and had mistook something else in the sky, because he was too dizzy.

For the man that said his car was turned over by someone, only using their hands; after an investigation, it was found that the car was going too fast, while driving downhill, and something on the road caused the car to jolt and rollover.

As for the man that claimed that his window was smashed by someone. This case was accompanied by a picture of the window that had a man-shaped hole. The investigation said that the other party had done it themselves, in order to get the money for the insurance.

As he read through them one by one, Noah was a little annoyed. He wasn't that good in this kind of work, and he felt like he should just go to bed.

Early the next morning, as soon as he arrived at his desk, Lily came over and handed him a large pile of information, which was also classified with different color post-its.

"N, this pile is files on cases of people claiming to see a man flying in the sky. The red labeled ones have been processed, and the blue ones are closed with no abnormalities found."

"This pile is where someone said they saw Superman, this pile is one with a name similar to Hancock or John, and this pile is about alien planets that has a similar pronunciation to Krypton. See for yourself."

"Thanks, Lily. next time I go out, I'll bring you doughnuts. "Noah looked at 1-meter high stack of files. He felt a little worried.

"Well, why next time, you can go and get me a steamed stuffed bun today. From the restaurant in Chinatown, their bean paste stuffed buns are very delicious."

"Okay, I'll bring it back for lunch." Noah squeeze out a smile. If had he known he wouldn't have been too polite, those alien ingredients still made him cringe in disgust.

  ...

Hancock woke up on a roof in the morning. He found a very cute little girl standing in front of him.

"Where are you from? Why are you sleeping on the roof? Didn't your mother ever tell you to go home before dark?" The little girl looked curiously at Hancock, a man she had never seen on the rooftop before.

"Uh~~ my name is Hancock. I don't have a home or a mother, what's your name?"

Hancock had only just finished speaking when he saw the little girl running away. He laughed at himself. Sure enough, everyone hated him.

Lying on the rooftop, he looked at the sky. He wanted a home too, but where was it? After all these years, he would get a splitting headache when he tried to remember the past.

Just as he was about to leave, he heard brisk footsteps again.

"Here you are, breakfast." The girl was holding a sandwich in one hand and a glass of milk in the other. The milk looked like it was still warm.

"For me?" Hancock found it incredible, no one had ever been so nice to him.

"Well, you must have missed breakfast. Mom said that when you see people in need, you should help them if you can. Just leave your plate and cup on the rooftop when you're done eating and I'll come back for them after school."

The little girl scampered away and poked her head out at the window by the roof top, "Hi, Hancock, my name is Marilyn."

'If you see someone in need, you should help them if you can.'

This statement touched Hancock greatly.

He was surprisingly inferior to a 5 or 6-year-old girl, even if he was perfectly capable of helping more people.

'Hey, I think I heard a police car downstairs. What's going on? Maybe I should give them a hand?'

  ...

"N, don't you have anything else to do?" O asked as she approached.

"Nothing, just reading some information. What's the matter?" Noah was having lunch while leafing through some information. He still couldn't find what he needed.

"That's just as well. You're a senior agent now, so you can travel alone and help the M.I.B with some of its problems."

"What kind of business trip, O? Where should we go? Leave it to me." J leaned in. A business trip meant that he could go to other places to have some fun.

"J, you do have to travel too, but this time you two are going to different places. I'll keep an eye on New York for you guys. Here's the information."

J looked at the information he had. There was an alien who had robbed a taxi and escaped from New York.

They went to New Jersey, so he needed to arrest them and bring them back.

It was just a minor figure with a risk factor assessment of 0.1. J could get it done in a few minutes.

"Hey, N, where are you going? I'm going to New Jersey. If you are going far away, how about lending me your car? The car K left is too old."

"Here's the key. I really can't use it. I'm going to L.A."

Noah looked at the information, and the corners of his mouth slowly lifted up. According to the information, there was a suspected alien who killed a bank robber and wounded three robbers under the noses of the police. He was wanted by the police, and there was a picture of his back on the files.

The height, build and clothing on that back clearly looked like Hancock.

He was thinking about where he could find Hancock. Now he knew! In just one night, Hancock went from New York to Los Angeles. He really ran far away.

"What?! Why do you get to go to L.A. while I have to go to New Jersey? N, how about we switch?" J quickly asked. 'Ah! There are a lot of beautiful actresses and places to go in L.A.!' By contrast, New Jersey was like a poor countryside area.

"J, this is a mission assigned by the M.I.B, you don't have the luxury to pick and choose right now. After completing your mission, you will return as soon as possible. We can't let people know about us. If you're in trouble, remember to call for back up. Okay? Just read the information and get going."

O turned around and went back to her office in her high heels. Of course, she was the one to assigned missions. On the Los Angeles case, the risks were higher, so she certainly had to send their most capable agent, N.

After packing up, Noah took the elevator down to the undergrown subway station. There were some other passengers in the carriage, but they were all dressed like him, and they were obviously colleagues from the M.I.B.

This was the subway line of the M.I.B covering most major areas of the world, which was faster than a plane. It was convenient for them, to deal with some international situations in time.

He closes his eyes at the beep of the train doors closing. When he opened it again, he had arrived in Los Angeles station.
