Chapter 20: Murder In the Mountain

***Tier types changed to make more sense(Explained later in the chapter, Also updated in the first chapter. Basmon's tier is now changed to Divine God. Rank Maximum also changed to XXX)

*Back to Basmon and Vatue

"Hey, Dad... What is that?" Vatue wondered, pointing towards a large committee of birds flying in a circular motion.

'Wait... Those are vultures! They target weak and dying pray! There must be a large amount of dead or dying pray there!' Basmon responded in wonder.

"Dad! We should go check that out!" Vatue said, his curiosity tingling.

'I don't think we should... It could be dangerous...' Basmon responded thoughtfully.

Basmon summoned his spectral body, and after a bit more debating on whether or not they should investigate, Vatue won out, so they went down the mountain once more. Once back in the forest, they started to run toward the vultures, who were about 15 minutes (5 Miles) away from them.

Soon, they had gotten close, and the smell of blood permeated the air. Smoke was now rising in the distance, and screams could be heard in the distance.

'Invisibility' Basmon thought, casting it on himself and Vatue.

They continued running until they hit a large clearing. In the middle of it stood 2 people, both holding daggers, fighting each other to the death. Around them, countless bodies lay, some already dead, some begging for help. A fire somehow had started, and the people who could no longer move were swallowed up by it. Above them, the call of vultures could be heard, and they were close enough to make out their disgusting features.

Basmon and Vatue jumped up, onto one of the few trees unaffected by the recent fire, and hid at the top. Below them, almost all of the people had been killed, but the fire had finally burned out. The two people kept fighting, both of them from an equal standpoint.

At some point, one of the people gained an upper hand and started to win. Around them, everyone had died except for one girl who was slowly sneaking off the battlefield.

'Dad... Should I go capture or kill that girl?' Vatue asked Basmon.

'Wait... Let me shoot her with an ice arrow so she will be trapped for a while. Then you can go subdue those two who are fighting...' Basmon decided.

He released an ice arrow towards the slowly moving girl, causing it to hit right beside her, and bury itself below her in the dirt. Suddenly, it exploded upwards, entrapping the girl in ice. The girl didn't even have time to react.

Then, Vatue jumped forwards out of the tree and snuck toward the two men. He formed aura axes, but made sure they were not sharp and quickly knocked the one at an advantage out first.

The other man immediately jumped back the moment Vatue's aura axe appeared, third personing their little one versus one.

Vatue jumped towards the man, who tripped backward, causing Vatue to fly over him. The man had actually knocked himself unconscious on a rock. Vatue picked him and the other man up and carried them over to Basmon. Basmon had jumped out of the tree, and picked up the girl, tying her up with a rope he found on another body. He then tied up the two men and waited for them to all come conscious. The girl seemed to have fainted also, whilst in the ice. Vatue and Basmon ended up dragging them all back to their original cave and started to wait for them to wake up.

After a while, the 2 men woke up, and a short while later, the girl also woke up.

"AHHH!" The girl screamed, the moment she woke up. She started to struggle, but couldn't escape at all.

After a while, all of them had calmed down enough to talk.

"Why were all of you fighting?" Vatue asked them.

"Wait. First, Why is there a purple thing over there?" The girl asked, nodding at Basmon.

"Doesn't Matter. Answer the question." Vatue commanded. In the end, one of the men started talking.

"Well... You see, there was a God-Tier skill book that appeared about 100 miles from here...The people there were extremely strong, but while they were distracted by each other, my group ended up getting the book. After escaping from the chaos, we started heading back to our own country, but in the end someone-" He nodded at the other man-"Backstabbed us to grab the book. Almost immediately, our entire group started killing each other... In the end, he-" Nodding at the other man once more- "Used an A rank fire scroll, killing almost all our members. The only people left are us three..." The man told Vatue and Basmon.

"Wait. What are 'God Rank' skill books?" Vatue asked.

"Are you asking how you rank skill books?" The man asked.

"Yes."

"Well, it ranks from least to greatest; Common, Rare, Super Rare, Epic, Legendary, Semi-God, God, Mythic. The same goes for any other ranking..." The man muttered.

<Announcment: Above Mythic stands Semi Divine God, then Divine God>

"Alright... Hand me the skill book." Vatue commanded to the other man, who refused. In the end, Basmon had to strip search him, until he learned the man had it in a small world. He ended up poisoning the man until he relented, giving them the skill book. Basmon then healed him and grabbed the skill book. 'System, What is this skill book?' Basmon asked.

<Death Gods Chains(God Tier)>

<Summons the God of Death's chains. Chains can be controlled infinitely, will kill almost anything on contact. Mana needed: 12,000 Per chain, costs 1,000 Mana/Second>

'...WHAT! How overpowered can that be?' Basmon said in awe.

'Wait... But that mana cost... Wow... System, when will I have that much mana?' Basmon asked.

<You will have 20,480 Mana and rank SS. Once your rank reaches S, your mana and durability will multiply by 4, and once you reach X they will multiply by 8>

'Dang it! That's so far away... Guess I'll just save this skill for later...' Basmon decided, absorbing the book. Immediately, his mind filled with information, his head exploding. His head felt like a firecracker had just gone off in it.

<Warning! Rank to low to absorb (Must be rank A), will be locked until rank A!>

'Oh thank god!' Basmon moaned, thankful the pain had stopped. 'But why rank A? Basmon wondered.

<Due to tier being Divine God, you can absorb the skill book even though even a God Tier would have to be rank SS>

'Wow! How did this group plan to use this?' Basmon wondered.

'Hey Vatue, ask the man how they planned to use this overpowered skill.' Basmon commanded.

"Hey. You. How did you guys plan to use this skill with its insane Mana intake?" Vatue asked.

The man, scared to be tortured like the other man who backstabbed them, immediately relented and told them; "We planned to use it in a magic circle as the kingdom's greatest weapon. All of the soldiers would input their mana, along with all royal mages, and cast the spell. Then we could use it on soldiers attacking us, and easily win..." The man explained.

'Oh? Interesting... So you can use a magic circle like that... Learn something new every day...' Basmon thought to himself.

'Now... What to do with these people...' Basmon wondered.

'Hey Vatue, what should we do with these people?' Basmon asked him.

'Well... I think we should keep the leader, and kill the others...' He suggested tellepathicly.

'Why keep the leader?' Basmon wondered.

'He seems like a good guy, and you would get another subordinate...' Vatue pointed out.

'Alright, let's go with that.' Basmon decided.

Vatue then killed the girl and the man who betrayed the group, and threw them down the mountain.

'You. Be my subordinate.' Basmon told the man.

"What? Where is that voice coming from?" The man asked nervosly.

'What do you mean? It's me. In front of you.' Basmon responded.

"The purple thing?" The man questioned.

'Yes. Now answer the question.' Basmon commanded.

"Will you spare me?" He questioned.

'If you become my subordinate, yes.' Basmon told him. After all, he needed to complete his quest.

"Alright then... Fine." The man decided.

<Note: Gained subordinate: Zocu. Loyalty: 20% (Likely to betray)>

'Oh... That's not good. And I guess the quest wasn't completed because his loyalty isn't 100%... I guess I need to figure out how to raise that.' Basmon thought. He then untied the man, and let him warm up using a fire.

"Umm... Master? Why are your purple see-through?" Zocu asked him.

'Because this isn't my true form. I am actually a sentient item...' Basmon told him, decided to trust him.

<Zocu loyalty:+10% (Likely to betray)>

'Wow... Master trusts me enough to tell me that...' Zocu thought in wonder.

Basmon then showed him his true self, grabbing himself off a small rock shelf in the corner of the room. He then showed himself to Zocu.

'What do you think?' He asked Zocu.

"Well, whoever designed this bow had wonderful taste... A perfect recurve bow. And the wood is so fine! I think it's made of dragon cedar!" He said in wonder.

'Really? Thanks! That's my main body!' Basmon said.

"What? You would trust me with your main body?" Zocu said, shocked.

'Sure. I have to trust my subordinates, after all.' Basmon responded.

<Note: Zocu +20% Loyalty (Doubtful, Probably won't betray)>

Zocu was touched, but still wanted to go back to his own country.
