Chapter 7: Power of high mana
Will stood in front of the receptionist.
Though this was a different receptionist from the one he had met before entering the dungeon, she looked like just as the first one. Why ?
As even she was reading a book and without even looking up, asked for his ID.
"2000R for 1 hour.You were in for 1.5 hours. So 3000 R please" She said
"I would like to sell the items first." Will replied.
He then laid down the items he had gained from the dungeon.
This time the receptionist looked up.
"hmm… 7 goblin meat and 7 goblin bones rank F. 200R for each and that would take your total to 2800R. Pay 200R more and we are done here."
'Sigh my first dungeon run ended up as a loss….'
But this instead of discouraging Will, made his resolve even stronger.
He paid the 200R and went back to his room.

Will was lying on his bed with his hands behind his head.
'If only I could have casted the spell quicker, I would have not been hit by the goblin. I have to first increase the spell's proficiency before even trying to go to the dungeon for a second time.'
Increasing any spell's proficiency allows the spell to be casted quicker, use lesser mana and increase its strength.
He stood up from his bed.
"heh…increasing proficiency is where I'll shine thanks to a little 'Shard'.."
For increasing proficiency of a spell, a mage had to simply cast the spell repeatedly.
Sounded easy right ? But it had one big challenge. Mana.
Yes, usually people learning G rank spells would have G rank mana.
Thus they could cast the spell very less times before running out of mana.
Hence a typical mage would usually take a lot of time to increase the proficiency of his spells.
But Will was not a typical mage….atleast not after consuming the shard of mellow.
Though it is true that he didn't have infinite mana but having A rank mana at rank G was nothing to scoff at.
If one would assume A rank mana to be a bucket full of water, then G rank spells would be drops of water in it, i.e , theoretically Will did have infinite mana for rank G spells.
Will casted the lightning bolt spell.
A lightning bolt was flying in the air in front of him.
He commanded it to stop and the bolt became still in the air.
He then proceeded to move the bolt slowly and made it encircle him.
'sigh…..it would definitely be a boring process, but I need to do it….'
Till it was time to sleep Will continued this and then he slept.

The next morning
Will was sitting of the ground constantly looking at his hand.
In its middle laid a small red colored sphere.
It was the body tempering pill.
Will gulped.
'Damn.. No need of thinking about the pain when I haven't even faced it yet.'
With this he closed his eyes and then swallowed the pill.
As soon as the pill touched his tongue , it melted.
Will then waited…. 30seconds…. 1 minute
'Hey , I didn't face any pain… Am I lucky or what?' He though about this with a smirk on his face and immediately after that the smirk turned into gritting of teeths.
Pain.
Pain.
Will's body got covered with sweat.
It felt to him as if 1000's of needles were poking at his whole body constantly.
Will started banging his fists on the ground.
"ughhhh"
For the next whole hour he kept rolling on the ground.
Then slowly the pain subsided.
Will was on the ground, taking deep breaths.
'I have to face this everyday ? Should have first tried this before taking the shard of mellow'
He then slowly stood up.
'no point in crying about it now. Taking some pain now is better than losing my life afterwards.'
Yes, taking the shard was a necessity, as without it he could not catch up to the strength of the main characters, yet alone even thinking of saving them.
He strengthened his resolve and took deep breaths.
But while taking these deep breaths , he noticed something.
'Hey, what's that bad smell... Oh shit it is me. God all this sweat. Need to take a shower….'
And Will completely forgot about his "strengthened" resolve and dashed to his bathroom, because getting rid of the current smell was much more important than saving his life in the future…..
