Chapter 43: Aspirant Academy 2

It's was a strange feeling being more nervous now, enrolling to the academy, more than the first time I got my reward from my past life.

"Where here."

"Finally~" William responded with excitement spreading over him.

After both of us stepped out of the carriage, I inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly, trying to relax myself.

"Let's go. Let's go-!!"

Right where William was about to take the step forward to the street, I pulled him by his collar and went to the nearest stand.

William protested as he struggled his body, trying to free himself from my strong grip when suddenly, his clothes began to reap apart.

-Reeeeek!

"-!?"

The moment he noticed it, he stopped struggling and began walking beside me while looking at me with his teary eyes.

"Stop being overdramatic." I said, patting him on the shoulders. "Stay here or else, I'll leave you behind. I'll just go buy something quickly."

I turned around to leave after I said that. "Hey, wait! Where are going? We just got here and you're already looking around the city. What if you get lost?" William reached out his hands towards my back. But, I dodged this and continued.

"I'm not someone who doesn't have any sense of direction, ya'know? I lived in a forest for a couple of years, so what do you expect me to do, get lost?" Without waiting for his reply, I surveyed around the city for a couple of minutes. After I found who I was looking for, I went ahead and got near him.

If my hunches is correct, this person was Jack.

"Yo." Waving my right hand a little bit, I looked at him with a smile. Since it has been three years the last time we've talked, I'm not sure if this guy still remember me.

Not long after I was a couple of meters away from him, he turned back, slightly raising his arms as if pointing something at the distance.

Huh...? I stopped walking and turned my head to where he was pointing at. The moment I did that, my sight caught a man wearing a top-hat, staring at me with a smile.

This guy... Is he angry about something? While I was walking towards him, I couldn't help but notice the smile he was making was stiff. It somehow gives me a bad feeling.

"Uh... Are you perha--!!"

Before I could even finish my mid-sentence, he suddenly threw two daggers towards me. He's angry.... I managed to catch it after it was only a few inches away from my face, as I sighed deeply.

"What's with you?" I asked, seemingly expressing my annoyance to the man wearing a top-hat.

Chuckling, he slightly tilted his head as if he was confused by my question. "Nothing. I'm just expressing my deepest gratitude to you who keeps adding more problem. Anyways, I had a hard time dealing with 'that' guy because of you." He said, pointing his fingers to Jack.

"Is there perhaps something wrong with him?" I can't quite understand why he looked creep out, but when I turned my head around, I now understand why.

"What?" Jack asked, as his body began morphing into something sinister-looking before changing back to his real face.

I took a small stone on the ground and flicked it, hitting him and leaving a light scratch on his forehead.

"Stop scaring him, for pete's sake. Are you a child?" I sighed. Well, the artifact I told him about seemed to have done it's job like what I've been expecting. "Anyways, about the mission I gave you two?"

""Oh, right!"" Both of them said, synchronizing their sentence. The two of them took out a handful of documents from their [Pocket Ring]. Without further ado, they gave it to me.

After that, I went back to pick up where I left William.

As I was walking through the shops and stands, a ray of light suddenly caught my eyes, making me turn my head to where it came from.

"What's this?" I kneeled down and took a closer look at the accessory that the old man was selling.

It was a ring... a pair one, though.

The two ring's design was similar; it was made from a black see-through crystal, and a shard of red diamond was designed at the top.

The moment my hands touched the red diamond of the ring, I suddenly felt a strong sense of deja vu out of nowhere. It was a weird feeling.

After recovering my demeanor, I bought the ring from the keeper and went back to William.

Not long after I reached the stand where I left him, William, who's mouth wide open, was staring at the two girls that walked pass him. Thus, he shook his head after noticing my appearance to remove his dumbstruck expression, and turned his head to face my direction.

"What did you buy?"

".... Changing subjects won't work on me. I might as well tell this to your girlfriend later, William." I said to him, but he mistook this more of a threat maybe because of the expression my face was making.

"You wouldn't." He said, swallowing a mouthful of saliva. With my hands placed inside my pocket, I smiled as a reply.

"Anyways, let's go." I once again pulled him on his collar as we made our way to the Academy.

***

After we reached the entrance gate of the Aspirant Academy, both of us realize....

It was quiet.

The whole entrance was empty. No sound or voice could be heard. Because of this, it got me thinking.

"Did we perhaps miss something?"

William's expression changed from excitement to dejected, shocked; he was feeling an amalgam of emotions after hearing what I said.

"This... This is your fault! I told you that we should hurry but you didn't-- ack!" William complained. Since I had no time to deal with him, I gave him an head chop using my hands.

"Would you shut up for a minute? I'm thinking here." I looked at him with annoyance. Just where are they...? I thought to myself internally.

I was about to turn around when I suddenly heard a loud shout through the hallway. It wasn't that loud but thanks to my enhanced hearing, I managed to catch what that person was talking about.

"Defeat.... Arthur!!"

Immediately after I heard that, I smiled. "There they are." I said to myself.

"Huh!?" William was taken aback when I suddenly pulled him on his clothes, but he decided to give up and let me do what I want.

*

It didn't take us long to reach the upper part of the arena. While walking, I noticed a huge barrier covering the top of the arena. It was probably because of this, we had a hard time figuring out where they were.

William was still confused but, not long after, his expression beamed brightly.

"Why don't we take a sit?" I said, as we both placed our bags to the chair beside us.

Not long after that, we decided to watch the match between fifteen students versus the main character, Arthur.

"This should be fun."

***

"Haaaaa!!!" One of the students slashed and hacked his sword downward.

-Foosh!

Which the protagonist dodged it easily. After taking a step back, Arthur raised his hills and kicked the other student behind him on the chin.

"Guahh!" The student groaned in pain.

It didn't take long for the other thirteen student finally made a move; some rushed forward while the other began to attack using magic.

Of course, Arthur managed to survive those magical attacks by using one of the students body as a shield... Although he had an hero complex, but when fighting, he had a hard time holding back.

"Seems to me that some of his memories has finally came back." Muttering that, I crossed my arms while staring straight at Arthur's opponents.

Not gonna lie, I somehow felt bad seeing those fifteen people fighting him with their all while Arthur was trying his best to hold back his strength.

"Sigh.... I can already foresee the outcome of this battle." I muttered. "Let's go, William. This battle is already over the moment that guy stepped in." I stood up from my sit and walked towards the chair where I placed my bag.

I was about to picked the bag up when I suddenly noticed something. Staring at the middle of the arena, I saw Arthur was staring directly at me before letting out a sigh.

Placing his hands to his pocket, a huge shockwave suddenly appeared that made a huge crater and brought all the students close to him to the ground.

[Milieu Pull]

"I have no time for these guys..."

Slightly turning his head to my direction, he began walking forward and stopped after reaching the middle of the arena. Raising his hands and aiming it up... No. It was aiming directly towards me.

What are you trying to do...? I thought. It only took me a few seconds to realize. "Don't tell me!!"

Suddenly, his hands began glowing, releasing a white hue onto his surroundings. The white hue in his hands was then shot directly at me.

This damn protagonist!!... Looking at the incoming white ball towards us, I sighed exasperatedly before raising my hands.

Zoom!

The white ball flew over and hit my hand. My dark magic began to do it's work, absorbing the strong energy coming from the white ball itself.

Vuuuam!

A few moments after my hand caught the ball he shot out, the air surrounding us shattered, as it sent tremors that disintegrated the chairs below into dust, that was quickly swallowed whole by my dark magic.

While I was carefully absorbing the Dawn Magic he released, it let out a loud ringing sound.

-Riiiiiiing!

After I finished absorbing everything that could be considered harmful, I muttered to myself, "This bitch... What a nice way to welcome someone."

I was about to do the same 'Welcome' Arthur gave me when suddenly, someone called out my and William's name.

"William sev Lakiel and Athan von Lohengramm the principal is calling out to you two." A woman, almost similar to my mother's age (adult form), stopped me when I was about to release my attack.

I clicked my tongue out of frustration, before letting out a deep sigh to calm myself down.

"I'll deal with you later." Muttering that, William and I took our bags from where we were sitting earlier, and followed the woman. After crossing the Academy's hallway for a couple of minutes, we finally reached the office of the principal.

The woman stopped and knocked at the door three times, saying, "Principal, may we come in now, please?"

We waited a few seconds for an answer. "Uh... Yes!" A feminine voice answered.

Hearing that, the woman gestured her hands as if ordering me to open the door for her, as I let out an exasperated sigh.

"Fine..." I reached my hands to the doorknob and slowly opened them. It was only for a few seconds when the three of us felt an extreme amount of bloodlust in front.

With her wand aiming at me, the elf woman greeted her teeth and asked.

"Who are you?"

Which I replied, "Oh for fuck sake, what's wrong with you people? Is this how you guys welcome me?"
