Chapter 45: Practical Exam 2
"Why does she have to be my opponent...?" Muttering that, I casted Cossette a side glance before spitting to the ground.
She noticed this and gave me wave with a dumb smile on her face.... She hasn't changed a bit, huh.
I took out my sword and began my stance as I turned my attention to back Alicia, who was currently my opponent.
Under the rays of daylight, her platinum-white hair gave off a faint glow, and her vivid crimson eyes brimmed with dignified grace as she continues to gaze at me, coldly.
Somehow, I'm getting a weird feeling of mesmerization after staring at her for a couple of seconds.
What's wrong with me, being mesmerized by a 12 year old girl? I shook my head to remove myself from deep thoughts.
Before I could even mumble something, Alicia stared at Cossette and said, "Can we just get this fight started?"
With a sigh, Cossette nodded her head and raised arms hands, "Are you both ready?"
Returning her cold gaze back to me, Alicia prepared herself and nodded her head. I did too.
""Yes."" Both of us said, synchronizing our voice into each other.
Slashing her hands down, Cossette shouted.
"You may begin."
VUAAM!!!!
A bright light suddenly enveloped the whole surroundings as Alicia disappeared from her spot.
I stood still...
Closing my eyes, I began enhancing my sense. It didn't take me long for me to notice Alicia's presence approaching me. Without further ado, I slowly opened my right eye as I grinned away after seeing her figure.
"You are now under my spell."
At this exact moment, the whole place froze in placing. The only person who can move was me, even the protagonist was no exception.

The ground froze when Alicia's palm accidentally touched them after Athan dodged her attack. Without wasting any time, she used her hands to throw herself up in the air once again.
Athan could only let out a sigh after he saw this, while Cossette whistled as she continues to stare at the two of them with excitement.
He also noticed someone else's gaze, then subconsciously shivered up. For some reason, Athan felt like someone was staring at him as if he was some sort of guinea pig.
"You shall become my test subject for later." The girl outside the arena muttered. Athan wasn't able to hear this since his attention was focused on the battle.

Athan's foot got caught on thick ice, making him unable to move. Alicia on the other hand rushed forward, summoning an ice spear and using it to stab simultaneously forward.
Thankfully, he caught this using his hands, that was fully wrapped by dark magic as an enhancement.
Using his sword's scabbard, Athan used the blunt part to break the ice that was binding his movement. Then, taking a jump back, he crouched and placed his palm on the ground to activate his magic.

Suddenly, a huge snake appeared in front of him, that attacked, or probably to swallow Alicia whole. She immediately tried to dodge this but it was too late.
The snake caught her clothes on the side, and used this to throw her body to the air. Thus, Athan took advantage of this as he immediately [Flicker] his way through, and readied to slash his katana mid-air.
"Haaaaaa!!"
-Shuuop!
Everything happened so fast, Alicia suddenly disappeared from the sky, as the dark snake from the bottom got cut without it noticing before disappearing into thin air.
Athan got caught by surprise after he felt that something scratched his back. The clothes he wore got torn out, revealing a large cut that bled out, as he suddenly got kicked on the abdomen.
His body fell hard on the ground, creating a small crater. Athan groaned painfully after this. Using his katana to support himself, he rubbed the part where he had been kick while staring in amazement. He probably still hadn't grasped the situation.
Athan was about to prepare his stance once again when suddenly, two balls of lightning appeared before him.
Both attacks passed by his right and left side missing him a hairbreadth.
Swallowing a mouthful of saliva, he muttered, "Lightning?!" As he rolled his body to the left to dodge the incoming attacks.
Shiiiiii-!
Like earlier, Alicia's attacks barely managed to hit his body. Athan has been dodging the ice arrows and lighting ball simultaneously, trying his best to dodge every dangerous attacks.
Athan was about to take step forward when ice Spike suddenly appeared on the ground. Thankfully, he made a barrier below him that shielded him from the spike.
"That was dangerous," he said, making the barrier float to the sky. Summoning thousands of small barrier blocks from the sky, Athan made it rain down to the ground like a bullet.

Alicia didn't try to dodge this, but instead diverted it's direction elsewhere.
-Clang!
-Clang!
TRIIIIING-!
It released a loud metallic sounds after hitting, that echoed throughout the whole arena.
Noticing that what she was doing was futile, Alicia hopped backwards while avoiding the blocks. This action was already predicted by Athan as he prepared some traps for her.
The moment Alicia's foot touched the ground, a two-large barrier surrounded her. Soon the barrier moved forward at high speed, crushing her body from sides.
Then, the whole place went silent for a couple of seconds.
Cossette was about to announce her defeat when suddenly, the barrier Athan made exploded, as it flew up in the air before falling hard on the ground.
Once the dust cleared up, Athan couldn't help but stare at the large ice beside her with a smile.
"So, you've already unlocked that ability."
Alicia's platinum-white hair was no more. It turned into silky black that swayed from the strong gust of wind that was coming from the outside. She also had two horns on the side of her forehead. It was glittering like a crystal getting hit by the rays of the sun.
Staring Alicia's now appearance, he cracked his fingers and lowered his body, preparing his stance.
"It's time to finish this." Alicia muttered out loud. She created an ice spear from her hand and thrust it forward. Using two of her fingers, she stroked across the length of the handle.
Vuuuam!
"Huaaaa....."
A sound of calm breathing came out of his mouth.
Sensing the incoming attack, Athan's brows twitched slightly. His indifferent eyes gazed at the incoming attack with unprecedented calmness.
-Clang!
He blocked her attack and diverted it somewhere else. With his eyes tracing the movements of the spear, Athan's sword glowed. Soon the spear arrived before Athan, who took a step back.
Then....
Screeech-!
The ground where Athan was stepping on released an ice that caught Athan's foot, freezing his lower-half into ice.
"As expected..." Seeing that he had no way to fight, Athan's smiled. The smile wasn't like his usual, but instead it was cold.
"I won..." Alicia took a deep breath, raised the ice spear she created using magic and pointed them to Athan. Her hair was slowly turning back to her normal platinum-white.
He couldn't move since his lower half was frozen, so he raised both of his arms in defeat.
But...
"No..." He muttered.
From the crowd's point-of-view, they saw her won. When they're about to make a loud cheer for her, a sound of cracking was heard from the sky.
-Creak!
It wasn't long for it to shatter. All of them thought that it was the glass above, but when looked closer they realized it wasn't.
Alicia was surprised when the glass-like thing from the sky fell down. She was about to summon her shield when it disappeared.
"Huh...?" It didn't take long for her to return her attention back at Athan's direction, but...
Where is he? Alicia internally thought. She was about to turn around when suddenly, the tip of the black katana caught the side of her sight.
"I won." Said Athan, earning a bunch of confused and shocked look from the crowds. Cossette and Arthur was the same.
Alicia was about to hop away from his reach when something stopped her from moving. It wasn't long for her to realize what it is.
"This is my..." Shockingly staring at the ice from her lower half, she muttered, "Just how did you used my magic against me..." Then, sighed before raising her arms in defeated manner.
Chuckling politely, Athan cracked his neck and fixed his clothes, that looked like it wasn't damaged in the first place, before whispering something to her ears.
"Like I said earlier... You are under my spell." Athan said, as he teasingly blow her ears. Which She made a cute shriek because of this, then the ice from her lower half melt.
"Told you I'll be meeting you again." Athan teasingly smiled. She pouted her lips because of this and stared at him coldly before saying.
"Who are you?"
