Celebration
Just a few minutes later in the car, Sir Isaac followed us. When he entered the car, his son's car exited the gate of the school.
"Sorry for that, " hingi niya ng paumanhin. Mukhang sakit sa ulo ang anak niyang ito. I don't want to judge his son but I think his son is an asshole. I smiled sparingly.
"It's okay Tito. Maybe your son and wife miss you so much, " I said.
Sir Isaac is in the passenger seat. Lorelei and I ay nasa back seat. Alejandro, on the other hand, just accompanied Justine in his car.
Well, Justine is richer than them, apart from being the son of the Vice-Governor of Surigao, they have a large plant that they own.
Speaking of Government. We don't know who the Governor is, because she didn't show up and instead its secretary always shows up. As far as we know Governor Maria Bellatrix Astaire. We only know her by her name
"Yes I miss them, " he said meaningfully.
"Btw sir, why did you choose to teach us here? Mas mataas ang sweldo sa manila, mataas ang kalidad, mas maganda din sir. There are many universities there, " Lorelei said.
"Yes but you need more like us here. Education is not selective, the education is for all. " replied Isaac.
We soon got home. "Wow, it's nice and beautiful here! There's a paddy field and next to your house is with vegetables and flowers." Lorelei exclaimed. We even walked up to where the house was. She roamed around.
"I agree, mas sariwa ang hangin dito kaysa sa maynila. I wish I can buy a property here. "
"Bella!" Mama said happily and welcome me with her open arms. Ng magkalapit kami ni mama, I immediately hugged her.
"Mom, I'm finally graduate!" I said. Kumalas ako sandali sa yakap. I took my medal at isinabit sa kaniya iyon. I smiled. Meanwhile, mama was crying. I sneezed.
"Thank you anak, you make me proud of you! "
"Ah ma, they are my friends. They decided to just celebrate here with us, " I said and stepped aside.
"I'm Alejandro Fernandez. You can call me Jandro. Pero pwede din pong Jandra hehe. Nice to meet you po auntie" Alejandro introduced. Ang baklitang ito talaga. Sa umaga Jandro. Sa gabi Jandra. Buti talaga tanggap siya ng parents niya lalo na't nag-iisang tagapagmana siya ng Fernandez.
Lumapit naman sa amin si Sir Isaac. Para namang nakakita ng multo si mama ng makita si Sir Isaac.
"Isagani... "
"Oh mama. I said he's Sir Isaac Wolf not Isagani, nagiging olyanin ka na. " I said and turned to my friends. Mama was ready to speak when Justine approached us.
"Vice come here" I called.
"Justine Sky Loque. He's the son of Vice-Gov. He's my friend" I introduced. Nahihiya namang nakipag-shakehands si Justine kay mama.
"Just call me Justine, Tita. Nice to meet you again" he said. Again? Did I mishear that?
"Ay akala ko naman boyfriend ka na nitong unica hija ko. Justine, you've been friends for a long time and my daughter wants you, you still can't court her?" I almost blushed in embarrassment at what mama said. Ma! Why did you say I liked him. I wanted to protest but Justine smiled sweetly at me as if it was okay with him.
"Oh, it's okay. Our first goal is to study before to commit in a relationship" Justine said.
Bigla namang sumingit si Sir Isaac at inakbayan si Justine. "You should, hijo. Don't court my daughter first, " Sir Isaac laughed lightly. Mama raised an eyebrow at Sir. Isaac.
"Your daughter, huh?" Mom asked.
"Ahm Ma, Tito. We'll go first. We'll just arranged and prepare the food " I said goodbye and to give them privacy. It was as obvious as if they wanted to talk. And it looks like it's important what they're going to talk about.
" You didn't say you like me huh" Justine said while we were cooking kalamay.
"Oh silly don't believed mama. Besides-" he didn't let me finish speaking when he faced me. His chocolate eyes stared at me intently.
"I've always noticed the way you look at me. You like me and ... I like you too. We feel the same way Isabella don't deny it" he said to my surprise. I'm shocked. How did he know? Am I being obvious all the time? Parang naiilang at nahihiya ako.
"J-justine. I thought you like Bianca?" I said because that's what I assumed. He was always with Bianca and there were rumors about them.
Justine nodded. "Bianca is just my friend and if you're wondering why we're always together it is because she want me to teaches her hard lessons. Hindi naman siya ang gusto ko. I only like one person and it's you Isabella" he confessed.
I just bit my lip so hard. I'm looking for the right answers to say but it seem to have I'm running out of words. "O-okay. Ahm I just thought you liked her. Besides, anyone will really think that you are because Bianca also likes you" I said shyly.
He sighed, "But now it's clear to me. We both liked each other" I said. I put some humba in my rice(Humba is like adobo. A kind of recipe)
"So can I ... ahm court you?" He asked shyly. "I know we're young but I don't want to waste my chance" he added.
"I don't know if I still have time there. Mama is sick and we're going to college. It's okay with me that we clarified." I said. I look down shyly.
"I'm sorry Justine. Maybe because-" he interrupted. He nodded and smiled bitterly.
"Yes or no, pres? I'm willing to wait when you answer me" his eyes widened.
I was about to be answered by a voice that spoke behind us. "What? You're going to court my daughter, hijo?" I was surprised when mama appeared behind us. She had been listening to our conversation...since when? She surely heard everything. Oh my!
"Bella, don't ever try to refuse him. Grab the opportunity, " said mama and approached us. Justine laughed at Mama's attitude.
I pout, "Mama!" I protested
"Auntie, I can wait for Isabella to be ready. And besides, our friendship won't be ruined by this" Justine said
"Oh hijo. Don't wait for her to be ready. Make her fall for you" said mama.
I was just shak my head in disbelief as I transferred the hand to the container and laid it on the table.
"Mom, it's up to us to talk about that." I told her
"I'm telling you, you'll regret once you hurt my daughter. For me, it's okay-" Sir didn't finish. Isaac was the one to say when Mama turned to him.
Mama give him a death glare. Sir Isaac just chuckled. He is enjoying whenever mama got annoyed to him.
"Oh, Isagani. Stop worrying about the children. You must go home to Vanna and make sure not to worry your pittyful woman" Mama said annoyed and Sir Isaac just laughed. It's fun to watch them when they are plowing. It's as if I think Mama and Sir Isaac would have known each other for a long time if they could get along now. Para silang mga teenager kong umakto. Hmm, kanina ko pa yan napansin.
Magkakilala kaya sila mama at tito?
Parang ampalaya sa kabitteran si Mama. While Sir Isaac I mean tito Isaac is enjoying to annoy her. They are like teenagers. Dinaaig pa kami ni Justine e.
Laughter filled our party. I rolled my eyes. It was like the three of us mama and Sir Isaac were like a whole family.
"Di niyo naman kami isinama sa kasiyaha niyo diyan, " Jandro sighed. Para bang nagtatampong bata. Lorelei just laughed at him.
"Wow, we look like a happy family today. How I wish" Lorelei said. I fell silent. I hope it's just like this.
Sana, isang araw.. Balang araw... My real father will come to me. I won't ask him why he left us. The important thing is that he is here, but nothing.
The party ended with dancing, singing and dining. At least we had a little fun gathering.
"Hindi mo alam kung gaano ako kasaya ngayon. It's a biggest and wonderful gift I've ever received. " Justine said. I just smiled.
"Kahit hindi pa kita sinasagot, masaya ka na? "
He nodded and kissed me in my forehead. "Yes. I'm so very happy. "
"Paanong hindi ka sasaya Vice? Pres is allowed you to court her, " Jandro teased.
"Oh, hurry up and court my friend. You know there's someone else we don't know who looks like an eagle if you just keep an eye on the bag after it's over-" I covered Lorelei's mouth.
"You know, mind your own business and you just ate. You are too noice" I said and gave her a barbecue. Even though I only live in the province, I can also taste the food of the rich because my mother knows how to cook then.
Meanwhile...
The sun set at the moon shine. Jandro and Lorelei have decided to go home even though they don't want to.
"I'm sorry Bella ah. We won't be stay long here pinapatawag na kasi kami sa bahay. Emergency ata. " Lorelei said
"Next time we'll spend the night at a resort. I promise that Pres!" Jandro said as I nodded.
"Yeah sure. Next time. Oh hey, go home maybe you'll be scolded for that" I said shyly. They have their own picks.
"Okay bye. Let's just chat and call on messenger or Skype. " Lorelei said and we kissed in chicks. Meanwhile, I hugged Alejandro.
Alejandro will study in Manila. Meanwhile Lorelei is destined in America.
It's sad but that's really it. Some are leaving and some are coming. In short people come and go. They have their own entrance and exit. The important thing is that we are still friends until the end.
I waved as their car left. When I could no longer see them I returned home. I walked back. I was a little tired at the party but it was okay because it was fun.
"Oh Justine. You're still here. You haven't come home yet?" I asked.
"Ah, I'm going home now. I'd like to stay here but Dad sends me home. By the way, Tita and Sir Isaac are still inside. They are talking so I let them alone there" Justine said. I just nodded.
"Is that so? Okay. Be careful when you go home-oh your service is already here Vice" I said.
He came up to me and hugged me. "I'll miss you Pres. If only I could take you on my vacation" he said.
"I'll miss you too Vice" I whispered to him.
"Oh, don't worry. We'll meet again. Just enjoy your vacation there, " I told him and let go of his hug. I smiled.
"It looks like we will be separated. But with Skype and Fb, we can still connect with each other" I told him.
He nodded and smiled. "I'll be right back, I'll be back and I'll study here." He said. I put my hand in my pocket.
"So, goodbye. And goodnight Mr. Vice President " I said and came again to give him a kiss on the cheek which surprised him. He seemed to be a statue in his position and also because of the light of their car I saw the redness on his cheek. He is blushing for Pete's sake ..
"G-goodnight Bella. Goodbye too" he said and smiled shyly.
He soon said goodbye. Before he finally got into the car, he waved first. I waved back to him.
When they left, I returned back to home. It was a tiring day, but it was fun and I enjoyed the party. I can say that this is one of my best days of my life.
I looked up at the sky. The sky is already dark but there is many bright star that gives color to the galaxy. And the moon is beautiful to look at. In a flash I saw a falling star. I was no longer a child but when I saw a falling star I smiled and secretly asked. I am very obsessed with science and that includes the galaxy.
"Someday, my life status will change and I will be able to lift mama out of this poor situation. Makakaahon din kami sa hirap. " I whispered and continued walking back to our house.
I envision two shadows in the house. It was a shadow of Mama and Sir Isaac. They seem to have reconciled and Sir Isaac has been staying with us for a long time.
I went up the stairs and heard Mama and Sir Isaac arguing weakly. What is the problem and why are they fighting? Mother was always irritated with Sir Isaac. Did I think they were okay? Who exactly is Sir Isaac in Mama's life and that's how Mama reacted to him. It was as if they would meet. But somehow, Mama never said that she knew anyone from Manila. Because he never went to Manila.
O baka may alam siya na hindi niya sinasabi?
