Chapter 15: Ch. 15 Detective M

Myrddin managed to confront Jeff Hackin. The guy who shouted his least favorite nickname.

It took a while for Myrddin to be able to talk with Jeff alone. The guy was basically the class clown of the Junior year. He always had some people around him.

That extra time Myrddin had while waiting for Jeff to be alone was used to dig up some dirt on the 17 year old. It took a little effort but he was able to find out that Jeff was dealing some 'items' around the school. He was basically hiding in plain sight with his Class Clown act while selling whatever product he had. And he was sneaky, but not sneaky enough.

Myrddin was eventually able to get him alone and was able to play the old blackmail card to get some info. At first Jeff tried to play it off and act mightier than Myrddin, but he was humbled real quick when Myrddin pulled out some photos of Jeff meeting with some dealers in the next town over. These were tricky to get, but the results he got was worth the extra effort.

Basically Jeff sung more than a canary. Myrddin actually had to tell him to shut up at a few points because Jeff was talking so much. It also didn't help that his mom and dad are a scientist and a cop respectively. So Jeff really didn't want this getting exposed. He also didn't want to get his sister dragged into this at all.

There were some interesting things he found out from Jeff. And one such thing being what was mixed in with the red liquid.

It wasn't a harmful drug, or even a drug at all. But there really was pig blood. There was also some weird hair dye, paint, and other things.

And the Velma thing was something he just blurted out. He vehemently apologized about that and even offered to clear some things up around the school about it. But Myrddin explained the damage was done and that Jeff would be owing him big time.

There was also a hint towards who was behind this entire thing. But the hint was a combination of things.

First was the homecoming committee members. They were caught red handed, quite literally on a few occasions, by the police and some were even charged as adults since they were seniors and 18.

Second was Ms. Christin and her position around the school. She had the box where the votes for homecoming king and queen were collected. She also was the teacher leading homecoming with the homecoming committee. There are a few other reasons Myrddin suspected her as well.

Third, Jeff handing Myrddin the note that was used to order the pig blood and other things. The note was used opposed to meeting face to face, which was smart if Jeff actually got rid of this evidence. But it seemed Jeff needed some insurance so it made its way to Myrddin's possession. Jeff isn't as dumb as Myrddin gave him credit for, but he wasn't much smarter either.

He still doesn't have a name, but he agrees with the police's assumption the people behind this are on the committee. Just not only restricted to the homecoming committee. The mastermind wouldn't be that stupid would they? But they would need to have some weight to their words, so the student council seemed a logical place to explore next.

It's been some weeks and the cops have basically stalled. Which is kind of what Myrddin expected from them.

They're busy with murders and whatever else is happening around the entirety of Beacon Hills. They couldn't spend too long trying to find out who did this when no major thing happened. Myrddin was ok, he wasn't even traumatized by the event. He took it like a champ in the eyes of the law enforcement.

And they're right. It's just that Myrddin wanted some revenge after seeing his mom cry, he definitely wouldn't let these people get off easy.

He does have to remind a few people how easy it is to lose a scholarship these days. Especially since they're so hard to get in the first place.

In Myrddin's eyes, losing their scholarships is a decent punishment. Losing thousands of dollars, along with a few criminal charges? He still hasn't decided what he will do with those he finds guilty.

Myrddin gets visited at the vet clinic by a few people who recognized him when they came in for their pets. It was weird, but he did get to hear some gossip.

But it was mostly people talking about how sorry they are that this happened. They ask how he's doing and if his hair is permanently red now.

Myrddin simply shows them his black hair that is coming in at the roots. His eyebrows look the worst, but its whatever. He isn't trying to impress anyone. It'll take a while for his hair to get back to normal, but it eventually will get back to normal.

Deaton was a great help. Just having someone to talk to without having to worry about being worried about or judged helped. He was also able to bounce some ideas off of Deaton. Turns out Deaton had some good scientific reasoning for most cases.

Myrddin also enjoyed his time taking care of the animals. Deaton taught him some things that he would have trouble learning from a book. How to set broken and dislocated bones of animals. How to work down a list when encountering an unknown issue with a pet vs. a wild animal. What to do and not to do in various situations. It was closer to December when he fully memorized the things Deaton was teaching him since they were so detailed yet so broad at the same time.

There was less and less time that Myrddin was able to meet with Caval.

But when they did meet up they laid down under the night sky and enjoyed the company of the other.

Myrddin wasn't able to se the stump again. But he felt like if he were to see it again, it would be with the help of the twig. There was obviously something very unnatural with the stump, and the twig was his only connection. But nothing came out after all these months.

——————

It was Gwen's birthday in late Novemeber.

Myrddin got her a small gift and attended her party. Sebastian video called them for a few hours that night and they had a decent enough time. Myrddin just acted as if Gwen was an acquaintance and they were friends of friends that were forced to spend time together. He couldn't completely ignore her when they get together as a family.

Her 'Popular Girl' birthday party was that Saturday and he made sure to steer clear. He even locked his room when he went out that day. He just went to a park that nobody really visited and found a peaceful spot beneath a tree for that day. He finished Breaking Dawn that day and was debating on whether to continue reading the Twilight series. In the end he just began studying the human body.

He wanted to know what he could do to help grow his body. Exercise clearly was not helping and his eyes were continuing to get worse.

There was some worry at the back of his mind. What could a blind person do for work? Maybe he could become a lawyer and become a little Dare Devil? Yeah, he would get hit once by a b-rate thug and he'd be down so that was out of the question.
