Chapter 12: Holy Sticks

The Lectures continued, but Asia and Issei never showed up. I wasn't particularly worried about them, but their absence meant that something must've happened.

After the school was over, I used my Limitless to track down Irina and Xenovia in the town. Kiba was also with them, but to my surprise, I also detected the presence of a strong Fallen Angel following after them.

Through my spatial powers, I disappeared from my spot on the rooftop of the Academy and reappeared next to Irina.

"Hey." I called out with a smile when I saw her fighting against a Man dressed in a priest outfit.

"Alex, why are you here?" Irina shouted and immediately backed away from the priest.

"You're injured." I pointed out the bruises and shallow cuts on her bodies.

"I know, he's strong." Irina growled by glaring at the Priest.

"Oya, Oya, now that's a new face." Freed maniacally grinned at me, "Who are you, boy? The girl's boyfriend, Knight in shining armour?" He mocked.

"Something like that." I gave a vague response with a nonchalant shrug, "I see you have some nice toys."

"Toys, but sharp!" Freed laughed by showing me his ugly and deformed sword, "This is a masterpiece created by the fusion of four Excalibur Fragments!"

"After defeating that girl, Valper will be turning it into a fusion of Five!" Freed laughed hysterically by pointing his sword at Irina.

"I cannot defeat him, run." Irina whispered by taking defensive stance ahead of me, "You shouldn't have come here, Alex."

"You hurt me, Irina." I smiled and patted her shoulder as I stepped in front, "Actually, I am the rightful owner of those swords."

"What?!" Not just Freed, even Irina was baffled at my statement.

To prove my point, I pulled out Excalibur Ruler from Avalon, that currently hosted my soul. The Excalibur Ruler, a western Silver and Blue sword appeared in my hand and I challenged Freed by pointing it at his face.

"That's.." Irina was astounded with her eyes wide open in shock.

"Excalibur Ruler." I answered with a nod, "The only fragment that was never found by the Church."

"Kukukuku..." Freed laughed sinisterly by palming his face and glared at me with bloodlust in his eyes, "Things just became way more interesting, you brat."

"Go ahead and meet up with Xenovia and Kiba." I stated as I walked in front to face Freed, "They need your help. I sensed an Fallen Angel in the town and they were being chased by him."

"But.." Irina hesitated.

"Trust me." I gave her a confident smile.

"I trust you then." Irina nodded by clenching her fist and ran into Xenovia's direction.

"You would've had a chance to defeat me if you had fought me together." Freed grinned at me, "Unfortunately, your priority is to impress that girl than defeating me."

"Who says I cannot defeat you all by myself?" I titled my head with an amused smile, "Come at me, you moron."

"That'll be the last thing you regret in your life!" Freed shouted and dashed at me in a inhuman speed.

I parried the upperslash of his sword and kicked him away, "Surprised?" I asked when I looked the stunned expression on his face and took a stance, "Why don't you stop holding back and show me your sword skills? You're a Swordsman, aren't you?"

"Yeah, I am a Swordsman." Freed growled and stood straight, putting all his Mana into the sword to enhance his physical capabilities, "I am the best one there is!"

"I can respect that." I nodded in acknowledgment and we reengaged into an intense battle by slashing our swords at one another.

Freed was using the power of his sword to enhance his physical capabilities and match my speed. He was skilled as a Swordsman and not a joke to be taken lightly, even if he was a joker as a person.

During our fight, there were several times he overpowered me with his techniques and managed to land a few blows on me, but, I parried and dodged every single blow from his sword.

"You.." Freed kicked the ground and leaped a distance away from me, "You're improving." He gave me a terrified look, "What bastard are you?"

"You have taught me a lot." I rested my sword on my shoulder and smirked at him, "Your technique is focused on offense and defeating your opponent by outsmarting their own moves, I like that."

"Stop.. Stop Copying me!" Freed gave a frustrated shout and ran towards me again.

I parried his sword with pure reflex and grabbed his neck into a chokehold, before I held him above the ground.

"Release me.." Freed struggled to get out of my grip, but unfortunately I was more stronger than he had imagined.

He kicked the air and tried to knock me away by punching my arms, but I held him there with an amused grin on a face.

"This is where you die, Freed." I informed him by inhaling a deep breath, "I guess, there's no use of torturing you right now. Your death is inevitable, though its a little sooner this time."

"Wh-Wh.." Freed tried to speak, but he wasn't able to inhale any air.

"Incernate Anthem." I chose to use my Holy Flames to give him a befitting death.

I threw him down on the ground and watched his body turn into ashes, from the immense heat of the purple flames.

I looked at the Longsword that was laying near my feet and picked it up with my left hand, "It's all yours." I stated and Avalon immediately devoured the whole thing inside me, through my left hand.

"Let's see what the others are upto now." I scanned the presence in the town and discovered that they all had gathered at Kuoh Academy.

'I guess its happening, Rias and her Peerage getting their ass whooped by the Fallen Angel, Kokabiel.' I thought as I noted the barrier surrounding the whole school, 'Even my bounded field at home is way stronger than that.' I scoffed in response and teleported back to the roof top of the Academy.

"Kiryuu?" I frowned when I saw her hiding at the boundry of the terrace and fearfully peeking down at the fight.

"A-Alex.." Kiryuu stood and rushed at me, "I am so glad you are here!" She sobbed by hugging her face to my chest, "You disappeared all of a sudden when I followed you to the roof and this happened."

"You followed me." I gave her a dumbfounded stare and didn't know what else to say, because that's exactly what she would do.

"You left the classroom without saying anything.." Aika sniffled a sob and took off her specs to wipe her tears, "I was curious. Now, I don't know what's happening at all."

'Well, shit.' I sighed stressfully.

"Is that a real sword?" Aika asked when she noticed the Excalibur Ruler in my hands, "Alex, you. Are you one of them? I saw Gremory and Himejima Senpai fighting that demon."

Aika couldn't forget how that demon had destroyed the whole Gymnasium with a single attack, "Even Issei is helping them, the whole Occult Research Club and more people that I don't know."

I went to the edge of the terrace to watch what was happening at the track field, which was not turned into a battlefield for the Devils and Fallen Angel. Aika followed after me by holding the hem of my uniform's jacket and looked down as well.

"That.." She choked her words in bewilderment, when she saw Three giant three-headed dogs fighting the group.

Even Xenovia and Irina were helping them fight the Hell spawn of Cereberus, the guard dog of Hades. These puppies had nothing on the real deal, who was probably busy guarding Hell's Gate right now.

"W-Will they be alright?" Aika stuttered fearfully.

"I think they are doing great." I replied with a nod when I saw the group forming teams to deal with the dogs, "As long as that Fallen Angel does not makes any move, all of them are safe."

"F-Fallen Angel?"

"Yeah." I nodded in response, "You look at his wings?" I asked and Aika nodded, "His wings have feathers, while look at Gremory's wings."

"They.. They look like a bat's wings?" Aika answered nervously.

"Close." I chuckled, "Those are a Devils Wings."

"So do Angels have white feathered wings?" Aika guessed and curiously looked at me, now much less scared than before.

"Correct." I smiled and patted her head, "The number of wings signify how strong the Devil or Angel is. That Fallen Angel has Ten wings, so he's probably one of the strongest of his kind."

"Gremory and Himejima Senpai have only one pair of wings." Aika noted by adjusting her glasses and looked carefully, "Is that why you said that earlier?" she turned back to me.

"Yeah." I nodded in response, "There's no chance the Devils are going to win this fight." I remarked as I watched them take down one Cereberus after another.

"T-Then.." Aika grabbed my hand and cried fearfully, "W-We should run, Alex. The Fallen Angel had said that he would destroy the town."

"Nah, that's not happening." I waved off with a smirk and pulled her closer to me, "Just wait and watch, okay? I am going to make a Heroic entry and save the day."

"W-What do you mean?" Aika blushed with her head wrapped around my arm, "How strong are you, Alex?" She asked out of curiosity.

"The Strongest." I declared with a cheeky grin.
