Chapter 4: Hamper

He tilted his head, the voice behind it was a little unsettling, it made his skin crawl. getting up when the phone died and squinted his eyes at the unidentified caller.

"Hello?"

It sounded like a man or a girl with a voice modulator, whichever, it could've been a prank and he dropped it on the sink and then turned on the tap to wash his face and panicked fishing his phone out.

"Ah shit." He flung it and dumped it on the top raking his hair. Another bill added to the list.

Phone repair √

He laid on the old couch and took his console and sipped a cup of Pepsi powering up while he played in the dim room, he'd used it for so long that he knew the controls like the back of his hand, it was muscle memory.

He watched Maelstrom spin and swerved his axe, which he averted and kicked him in the game, picking up popcorn to eat, which was unbecoming of him but it passed the time.

Maelstrom is a Xeric beast with a sandy face, beaded eyes the colour of sapphire, he is buff and he wears a green helmet, green loin cloth with sand coloured lines on it.

In a desert-inspired world where there were Xeric beasts like him.

He was playing Zenith, a grand human warrior from Regno Forst, an evergreen territory in the five realms of Zin.

He had black hair tied at his nape and he was devilishly handsome and wearing armour with green fabric as of the cape and thereabout. He wielded a mace and did a move that swiped Maelstrom off his feet.

He had been playing M-Tech's least successful game series for years, the only flaw in their straight record for being the top gaming company offering the best gaming experience.

At level 45, he was one of the top gamers at number 2 but didn't consider it a real accomplishment_ yet, he acquired points from looting the Topyx jewel of the arid land Xeric and finally levelled up.

Engrossed in the game, his Pepsi spilt and he flinched at the mess "Shoot!" He flapped rolled the blanket up to uncover the messy chair with breaks on the leather surface. The blanket did not move from it unless it needed washing.

His muscles tensed at the knock on the door and flung the dustpan aside and wiped his butterfingers shoved the tissue into his pocket. He turned off the TV and checked.

"Who is it?." He opened the door carefully and stared at the stack then pushed back as Dev's aunt came into view. He huffed when she ambled in smirking.

Her boots clicked she walked around and he opened the blinds. She was here, with his mail and she held it out.

"Well, thanks." He nodded and shuffled it passing her a suspicious look when her hands dived into her short pockets and she scanned the apartment in silent judgement.

"I may have, may have not looked through your mails." Her hair flicked when she said it, smirked and flicked another card when he attempted to reach for it, she pulled it to herself.

"This one is mine. Shawna." She held out her hand.

"Guy Thomson." He shook it and she could feel the texture of his voice.

"Let me guess, Ex British legatee and rebel, Guy Thomson?." It was spot on for just guessing.

It seemed everyone knew about him.

He swallowed, it didn't take a minute not admit she was eye candy. He cleared his throat dropping the cards and facing the window_Gosh man, snap out of it.

"I've got a Pepsi if you'd like to take it_to to go

"_ Why is it so hot in here? Good riddance if she took off. Crikey! He pulled out his collar.

The hair on his neck stood as he clumsily stood by the window just to air out and she sat on the armchair.

"I prefer coke." She pushed the tub of popcorn and letters aside and crossed her long legs. Munching on it and leaning by the window to see the building.

"Is this what you look at all day?." She asked and he flicked the blind to see a couple from the window of another swiving.

Guy let the blinds refract flustered "No_not that, it's merely the skyscraper out there"

A dimple appeared on her tanned cheek when she beamed, she looked further then her leg dropped. "Oh, M-Tech, I know that place,"

He looked flustered and was shaking out of his shorts, now she knew he was an obsessive techie who lived in a deadass apartment. He fumbled at the cords by the blinds

"Dev has been there on a tour, for an internship, they said he was too young. Pfft." She rolled her eyes.

"Lucky son of a bitch." He muttered and she heard that and looked delighted.

"She is a bitch but what can I do?."

"It__it's nice to live around a brand I grew up with. The only thing good about this place." His lip thinned gazing at it with hopeless longing.

She fumbled with a chunk of popcorn, bit it stood up to wind her arms around him and kissed him.

He tasted popcorn and deepened the kiss.

"You did not see that coming did you?" Her bewitching green eyes flashed.

"Not by three inches away, no" His hair swivelled when he shook his head, breathless, he would've loved it if it wasn't a trance and if his voice wasn't going out of range like a juvenile every time he spoke. "I can't see"

"Did you mean that literally or figuratively?"

"I'll be expecting a pair of_" He gulped when she made out with him.

"Are you drunk? Because um" His lips delved into his mouth.

"I am not drunk, I am lonely. My nephew is flying halfway through the states now"

"That's unfortunate. Mmm, I still hate metal" He punched himself in the mouth mentally for self-sabotaging.

"I take that very personal and if that means playing all morning before my shift then it's game on" She clamped his lips shut when he was about to make a protest.

The subtle wind from the ceiling fan blew the letter off the table to the carpet where they made love.

The next day, Jillian wore a white shirt and black pleated shorts that looked like a skirt and white sneakers. Trodding to Guy's apartment building. Her headset was around her neck and she held two cups of coffee in a crate with one hand. Nervous that his coffee might be too creamy.

She halted by the stairs_Does he like cream? She brushed it off, frenetic and diverted from a broken plank that was halfway out of the void step, hustling to the next floor.

"Guy?"
