Chapter 3: Perfect

Zeak moved forward and pressed some numbers to open the metallic door in front of him. The door hummed open as the lights flickered on.

Wayne looked over Zeaks shoulder to see a single tube with a black substance.

"So this is it Wayne," Zeak said pointing towards the glass container. " I guess I should tell you what's the risk involved with this, I've been trying to figure it out for months after I found it couple meters from the original landing site of asteroids."

"As you can see the different animals out there came into physical contact with this thing and you can see the end result. The longest subject was a horse but it shortly died after a week."

"The main benefit that was observed was increased strength, vitality, speed, and increased senses." Zeak finally finished and turned to look at Wayne who had a frown on his face looking at the substance.

"Well, what are my chances that I die immediately?" Wayne let out a chuckle.

"88 percent," Zeak said quietly, worried that it would've deterred Wayne.

But Wayne already made up his mind he would do it, he just wanted to make sure he would be alive to kill those guys.

"If you want to begin, please lay on the table to the left over there."

Zeke pointed to a steel table with straps for Wayne to lay on.

He laid on the table while Zeak set everything up putting wires on his body and moving the container with the substance right above his chest.

"on a scale 1 to 10 how much will this hurt?" Wayne asked curiously

"Well by how the animals reacted, I would say 15." Zeak said with a straight face.

Wayne took a couple of deep breaths to steel his resolve and let Zeak know he was ready.

"Good luck and please don't die" that was the last words Wayne heard from Zeak before the black goo fell on his chest and seeped through his pores and into his body.

Wayne was silent at first wondering when the pain was going to start but as if it read his mind, he felt searing pain coming from his organs as if they were going to pop.

"FUCKING SHIT !" Wayne let out screams of horror and tears ran down his cheek as he felt more organs bursting inside. At this point, Wayne was beyond ready to die to get the pain over with.

"You're strong Wayne just a couple more minutes" Zeak stood next to him trying to reassure him but that comment made Wayne even more desperate.

"A couple more minutes?! Can I survive the next couple of seconds first!" Wayne thought as the pain never subsided. Wayne's body started convulsing on the table for his motor functions was moving on their own.

"Perfect!" a dark bellowing voice sounded off in Waynes head as his eyes went pitch black and he passed out.

"bro bro bro, please tell me you're okay." Wayne opened his eyes hearing and seeing Zeak over him with worry.

"I think I'm good" Wayne let out as Zeak started unshackling his restraints.

"Bro tell me how you feel. anything helps." Zeak let out with a glint in his eye for now he had a subject than could talk about the effects instead of guessing what the animals were feeling.

Wayne got off the steel bed and started moving around testing his new body, He definitely felt lighter as he was bouncing around. " I feel like a billion bucks," Wayne said with an ear-to-ear grin.

Perfect let's go out and test your strength.

Wayne and Zeak hurried outside the lab and Zeak gave a few instructions for Wayne to follow to get used to his new found strength.

"Okay, let's test out your strength, can you pick up that tree or maybe that boulder?"

Wayne walked up to the tree and had flashbacks to the previous night, his anger boiled as he hugged the tree and pulled.

The roots were coming out with ease and Zeak was a bit surprised for he knew he would get stronger but not to this extent so quickly. They followed after with the speed test and once again Zeak was surprised for he was almost as fast as a speedster.

Wayne was beyond the moon for his goal of killing those thugs was now in reach. After the few tests were over with, Zeak and Wayne discussed what he would do in the next few days.

Zeak handed him a communicator in the shape of a bracelet to let him know if he needs anything for he wanted to help in any way possible. his best friend was now an orphan and he needed a friend more than anything right now.

Wayne left to go home to prepare for his trip.

Wayne stopped in his tracks and was wondering if he was hearing things again.

"whose there?"

"Where are you?" Wayne asked with a little worry in voice as the voice was too deep and menacing to ignore.

<Don't be dense, you know where i am. you can feel our connection even now.>

"So you're the source of this power?"

Wayne's eyes bulged in shock and confusement, " What the fuck are you talking bout? you think if i had power i would need you? I'm done listening to you!"

Wayne proceeded to head home and gather some of his belongings meanwhile trying his best to ignore Helgor.

Wayne thought about Helgors words, "what do you mean I've been handicapped?"

Wayne was in disbelief for he was trying to remember how his mother told him and his sister they had no power and that's why their father left.

He got home and immediately looked on the forums to see if he can find a powered person to manipulate the mind, to his expectation there was one and he was on his fathers' team.

Wayne's hatred grew even more for his father but not only did he leave them to fend for themselves but lied all on top of that but why?

In the midst of his thoughts and now grabbing things to pack in a bag, Wayne remembered something else Helgor said.

"Hey what do you mean I'll die in a week?"
