Chapter 73: 73.

Three days passed in a flash. During these past three days, Yang Ze didn't go out of this room, but took a rest and kept his body in the perfect condition. Even Wan'er who would usually annoy him didn't come to bother him during these past three days. It was as if she had given up on him.

However, for Yang Ze, this was the perfect situation that couldn't get any better. Not only did he not meet that annoying girl, but he also got some rest. It was a win-win situation.

Waking up in the morning on the day of the test, Yang Ze took a bath before walking out of his room. As soon as he made his way to the ground, a large group of people was already waiting for him.

"It's young master."

"Good morning young master. How are you feeling?"

"Young master, are you feeling nervous?"

"Don't worry young master, you will definitely be selected."

Looking at the people cheering him up, Yang Ze smiled heartily. Giving them a bow Yang Ze said in a low voice "Thank you, everyone. I will remember this."

After joining the group, they made their way toward the area where the test was being held.

"Fail."

"Fail."

"Fail."

"Pass."

"Fail."

"Fail."

Standing in a long queue, Yang Ze was nervously looking at the test in front of him. In the middle of the ground, a giant boulder was placed. Every person taking the test has to go and put his hands on it. If the stone starts to glow, then it means the person has the qualification to practice, but if it does not, then it means that the person doesn't have any qualification and hence will be kicked out of the test.

Yang Ze asked others about the process behind this to which he got a brief explanation. It seems that this stone checks whether a person has meridians in his body or not. Only when a person has meridians, are they eligible to walk on the further path, but if they don't, then it means their future ends there.

With a face full of nervousness, Yang Ze slowly waited for his turn. Even though everyone knew how terrible his talents were, but if he somehow has the meridians, then perhaps he might be able to change everything.

"Next." Soon it was his turn. Yang Ze slowly walked forward, full of nervousness. Taking a deep breath, he prayed in his heart for success. At this moment, Yang Ze was willing to give up everything for a single chance. In this world where he somehow inexplicably ended up, he didn't want to live a life filled with mediocrity. This was a new chance, a new beginning for him.

Yet no matter how hard he prayed or how optimistically he thoughts about things, the next word of the invigilator broke his hopes and dreams into countless pieces.

"FAIL."

Yang Ze didn't remember much after he failed the exam. Like a lifeless puppet, he somehow managed to make his way back home. For a young boy like him, this was the biggest setback that he had ever faced. Even in his previous life, he was a bright student. One that was loved by all, one that did all his tasks with a smile on his face... One that never ended up in a fight or any other activities.

Yet, for such a simple-minded child, this was perhaps a great blow to his self-esteem. If this was the native Yang Ze of this world, then things wouldn't have been any different. At most he would have lamented his fate before moving on.

Yet, this was the Yang Ze that came from the earth. To him, this was his first and perhaps the most serious setback. For a long time, Yang Ze didn't know what to do. He was confused, scared, and helpless. For the first time since coming here, Yang Ze wanted to go back. He wanted to go back to his own world where his friends were, where his mother was, though she usually nags a lot, she was nevertheless his only family. He didn't want to live here with completely unfamiliar strangers.

"Mom." Two streaks of tears fell down his cheeks as he shivered in the corner of the room silently. No matter how tough he might appear on the surface, in reality, he was just a child that was fifteen years old in his previous life. To him, everything that he had faced had been overwhelming.

.

Two days later, Yang Ze was standing in the room in front of his father and mother. In the corner of the room, was the figure of a young man that looked similar to him but was younger than him.

"Ze'er. Your younger brother has been selected."

It was the man who spoke. Even though he appeared to be calm on the surface, one could still feel the joy that he was feeling in his voice.

"I see... Congratulation." Yang Ze replied absent-mindedly.

"You must be sad for failing to enter, but don't worry, I have arranged some affairs for you. You can take charge of the business that we have in the nearby city."

"Okay."

.

.

.

It didn't take long for Yang Ze to reach the city. By now, his heart was already like ashes. All the people that once smiled at him and flattered him suddenly started to act like strangers. Even the father and mother of this body, side-lined him after their youngest was selected for the academy.

This was yet another great blow to Yang Ze. This once again made him feel utter desperation and helplessness. He was stuck in a world surrounded by unfamiliar faces without an ounce of warmth. There was nothing that he could do.

.

.

Time passed and Yang Ze slowly started to accept the new life that he had now. However, compared with the previous state of his mind, where he was always happy and full of hope, the current him was like a lifeless doll. One without any future or dreams, a drifter across the river of fate that was taking him to an unknown destination.

"Wow. You look like shit."

Looking at the familiar face of Wan'er Yang Ze shook his head. This girl, like all, has come to laugh at him. Perhaps she was already missing the feeling of superiority or perhaps he wanted to torment him more. The more Yang Ze thought, the more disgusted he became.

"Leave me alone." Speaking a few words, Yang Ze walked in the other direction, leaving the stunned Wan'er there.

"How... HOW DARE YOU? DO YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH?"

With a face full of anger, Wan'er rushed toward Yang Ze before pushing him to the ground.

"YOU DARE SPEAK TO ME LIKE THAT."

'slap.....'

"SPEAK NOW."

'slap.....'

"WHY ARE YOU SILENT."

'slap.....'

"YOU FUCKING WIMP."

'slap....'

'slap....'

'slap....'

'SLAP...'

No one knows how long it lasted. Even the people who were standing there didn't dare to intervene. They just stood there in silence, in fear. Lamenting the fate of the young boy.

By the time she got back to her senses, the figure of Yang Ze was already lying below her. Right now, his entire face was swollen and bleeding all over. Looking at him, he seemed to have lost consciousness. Yet during that beating, he didn't utter a sound, just gritted his teeth. He wanted to fight back, but how could a weak person like him hope to match someone as powerful as her who already has the strength of twenty people.

Perhaps, it was his stubbornness, or perhaps it was his pride that didn't let him out a single sound. In the end, the result was within everyone's expectations.

Looking at the state of Yang Ze, Wan'er just stood still. The blood, his clenched mouth along with two streaks of tears that were visible even in this blood, made her tremble.

"Hmph." Standing up, she turned back before leaving the scene.

No one knows who the first person was, but as soon as she left, people gathered around before carefully lifting Yang Ze and taking him back to his home. No matter if he was talented or not, no matter if he was wealthy or not, in the eyes of these ordinary people, he was just a child who was beaten up without any mercy.

I hope, this mini-arc will help you understand MC a bit better. If you are confused as to why MC is acting like this, then I would suggest you read the first chapter where MC just transmigrated and then this mini-arc where MC transmigrated.

I can not spoil any further, but this will perhaps give you a little insight into his personality.
