Chapter 23: Chapter 23: The substitute 3
The little drama that was performed putted the class to an end. Professor Doyle sent a message to the class group few minutes after he walked out with the red haired woman that has just been introduced as Miss Jones, our substitute teacher for the time being.
Whether it was legs or head I used to walk to the car was none of my business. In fact, I didn't know when I got home.
What happened today was going to be a big news in school and the substitute teacher just got herself a whole lot of people hating on her for the little revelation she made, including I myself. I couldn't help been jealous because the woman looked pretty and around Jer's age.
I mean, I have thought about it before, like there could be a possibility Jer is not single but later came to a conclusion that he couldn't be.
"Moreover, their was no ring on their fingers so how am I sure they are really engaged...?", I said out loud as I wipe my swollen eyes dry with tissue.
My eyes kept tearing no matter how much I wiped. Ann had been trying her best to console me since we came but it was of no use.
My heart hurted like it was poisoned and burned at the same time.
"He's my fiance....", that word alone kept on echoing in my ears and ringing in my head.
"Its okay Maya, it may be for the best you know. You never can tell, maybe just isn't the right person for you...", I heard Ann say but that wasn't an issue because something else came to my mind that moment.
"Karma...", I said with shaky voice, almost in a whisper.
"And what do you mean...?", Ann asked as she continued patting me on the back while my head was still laid on her laps like a child.
"Maybe what i did to Steve is what has decided to comeback to haunt me", Maya said as she continued sobbing.
She could now remember Ann's question when she asked how she would feel if Jerry if her love was rejected.
"So this was how Steve felt when she ended things...?", Maya asked herself as she continued to sob.
She had heard Steve transferred to another university but no one knew where it was.
Even she had tried calling him all to no avail also. She never knew the break was going to affect him this much just as she felt now but she felt worse, like her life had been deprived from her.
"What were you thinking?. Do you know the mess you just created in there...?", Jerry shouted angrily at Megan when they got to a secluded place.
He looked back again as he continued to fume in anger. Je wondered what was running in that little brain of her's so he decided to ask her directly as he didn't have the time to start thinking.
"I...I...I'm sorry bae", Megan stuttered with puppy eyes.
"I didnt mean to get you annoyed. I just answered a simple question in there. Was anything bad in revealing our relationship?", Megan asked innocently with a pout.
Jerry looked at the woman in front of him.
.."Was she trying to feign innocence or ignorance?", Jerry thought but her charm worked on him.
It had always worked on him but this time around he decided not to fall prey to it. He had completely lost the trust he had in her after she behaved as she did.
He looked at her again before hearing his phone ring.
It was Cam....
"Hey bro..", Jerry said, trying to hide the identity of the caller.
"I've just got news about Megan Jay", Cam said but Jerry was quick to interrupt him.
"We talk later", was all he said before hanging up.
He looked at the woman in front of him again and brushed his fingers in his hair.
"She's driving me nuts. What do I do with her...?", he thought before he heard her talk.
"Baby, I'm sorry. I didn't know you would want our relationship in school to be private", Megan said again as she came close to Jerry and rubbed his jaw with her hands.
"If its a dream, then wake up Megan. We stopped been a thing a long time ago", Jerry said with a blank face but he couldnt reject the fact that her touch did something to his little man.
"Concerntrate man. Its because you haven't satisfied your hunger for sex for a long time", he said to himself.
Megan smiled when she noticed Jerry's expression. She wasn't new to it at all, he had always reacted like that whenever he was aroused and he never wasted time to take her.
"I need to take my leave. Take care of yourself Megan", Jerry said in an horse voice trying his best not to call her a pet name that could make her feel like she had a hope or something.
"I want to go with you", Megan said as she followed behind him trying her best to look pitiful and also loveable at the same time.
"You don't need to Meg. You have a place to stay already or was it in an orphanage home you slept over night?", Jerry asked sarcastically.
"Urgghhh... Playing hard to get...?", Megan complained in her head as she followed from behind.
It was night already and Maya couldn't sleep at all. All she kept thinking about was Jerry.
The drama today kept on playing in her head while she also started having thoughts of what the duo maybe doing at the time.
"Could they be kissing now or probably making endless love with each other", Maya thought feeling jealous and infuriated at the same time.
Here she was a week ago, thinking Jerry like her. They would make eyes contacts once in a while and this made her feel he probably had feelings for her.
There was even a time was walking on the stairs way with books in her hand. She had rushed to use the restroom because she was badly pressed and Ann waited for her in the car.
While she was descending, she missed a step and her face immediately hit something hard.
She had closed her eyes thinking she hit a rock but immediately opened her eyes when she felt no pain but smelled peppermint.
She knew that smell anytime anyday. She lifted her head in embarrassing and she felt her face flush at the same time.
"Watch your step Maya", she heard him say and she felt like she was flying with the birds in the sky.
"What...?, he knows my name...?", Maya asked herself as she stood there dubfounded.
That moment continued replaying in her head even as she got home that day.
"My name sounds more sweet coming out from his mouth", she thought again, keeping her mind more occupied with those scenes.
It was since then she started thinking he likes her because it was rare for a professor to know the name of most of his pupils.
"There's no engagement ring on her finger Maya. What if she's just an admirer or probably lying...?", Maya thought, trying her best to console and also encourage herself at the same time.
"I appreciate you time Cam", Jerry said while he dragged the tie on his neck as little.
He was already getting suffocated with it on.
"I still can't believe it Cam. I just found out about her meeting with the supposed sick Professor. It happened she had bribed the woman to play sick. I'm sorry to have found out later bro", Cam said and scratched his head.
"Its nothing Cam. I just hope she stays out and not ruin anything for me", Jerry said sincerely.
"Same here man. All our hard work through the years can't be all gone because of a mere woman", Cam said purposely, pouring salt on Jerry's wound.
Cam heard Jerry scoffed and he said again; more like asking this time.
"Isn't she a mere woman?". "hmm hmm", I need to rest Cam we talk later. Bythe way, I got a text from Rick. Tell him i hope he won't get his family laid some day", Jerry said and hung up.
Cam bursted into laughter on his own. He had said the same to Rick sometime back when he saw two ladies in his room.
He immediately knew his friend had enjoyed the pleasure of two-some from those ladies.
Megan couldn't contain herself. She only man that had ever rejected her in her life was Jeremiah Doyle; though she knew perfectly she was the one who started the whole thing.
"I've always loved you and would akways love you Jerry. I've come this far to back down like this. All I need is your trust and I would work so hard to get you because if I don't, then be rest assured nobody else would", Megan said with fisted hand as she gulped down her last liquid of alcohol.
