Chapter 18: His worries and fears

The next moment Barry entered as well, dumbfounded at the mess. And his sober-elves was covering her bleeding wounds and looking at him with scared and petulant eyes.

Barry subconsciously took two steps in Nancy's direction, but then he saw where Nancy was sitting was in the cage.

In the cage?

How could the lock on the cage be locked?

He narrowed his eyes slightly and looked Nancy up and down for a few seconds.

He clearly remembered that he had not instructed the servant to lock Nancy up, nor had he given the servant the key.

So how was the lock on the cage, how was it locked?

He gave Nancy a hard stare and Nancy subconsciously shuddered, she had clearly known the meaning of Barry's look.

It meant to go back and settle the score with her.

She frowned softly, her eyes misting up as if she was going to cry the next moment.

After Joshua had finished examining Letitia's wounds, his eyes were drawn back to the bestial werewolf that had had its throat bitten out. He gingerly walked over and looked over the bestial wolf's body.

The body of this wolf was much smaller than a normal bestial werewolf and did not appear to be fully developed. Its ferocity had also come too suddenly and its teeth, although sharp, were rather hollow in the middle, not unlike an adult werewolf that had experienced many bites.

Thoughtfully, he looked over a few veins and, not surprisingly, found needle holes.

This wolf was not a normal werewolf, but one that had been given an accelerant.

This accelerant had been banned many years ago.

When the accelerant was first developed, no one knew about its side effects. For the struggle for power and the fight for territory, the wolves had given this accelerant to all the young wolves in their clan.

But while this accelerant increases strength, it also accelerates ageing and death. So the young wolves that were given the accelerant soon died, dealing a great blow to the population of the pack at the time, and naturally, the use of the accelerant was banned.

Over the years the struggle between the factions has become more and more intense, and it was not expected that this accelerant would appear once again.

Barry twirled some fresh blood in his hand, sniffed it gently on the tip of his nose and immediately confirmed: "This werewolf is on accelerant. "

Joshua stroked the already unconscious Letitia's hair as he said in a hushed voice, "Hasn't this stuff been banned? "

Barry also found it strange, "There has been a clampdown on accelerants over the years, even the raw material has been banned from cultivation. "

How could it appear here?

The two men couldn't figure it out, and Joshua's father arrived, and he had the scene cordoned off.

He arranged it well and called in the doctors who were with him.

Two doctors, one to examine Letitia and one to examine Nancy.

Barry's pupils tightened and he stared at the wound.

Nancy looked badly injured and was bleeding. Her skin and lips were snow-white, probably due to the loss of blood. At this point, she hung her head slightly down, as she kept remembering Barry's warning to her.

He didn't like her looking at others.

She could feel Barry looking at her and she clearly sensed that he wasn't happy right now.

His eyes were playing over the wound, and the look seemed to have emotion in it, and it sent chills throughout her body. She could feel the gaze move up again as if it was gazing at her face.

She subconsciously looked up gently and met his eyes.

Nancy has beautiful green eyes. One can't help but be calmed when being gazed at by her.

Barry slowly calms down as he looks into Nancy's eyes and slowly grinds his canines.

The doctor finished his examination and told them that one had lost too much blood and needed to be rested; the other was in shock and had fainted.

Joshua stroked a handful of Letitia's hair as he politely said to his father, "Excuse me, I need to get her upstairs. "

His father was understanding about this; his only son, always a gentleman and spending time with sober-elves for the first time, might be a little doting.

He nodded and left the servant to continue tidying up the scene, saying amiably, "Go on, and think about why this is happening in the house today. "

Joshua's pupils darkened and he nodded softly. He locked eyes with Barry before he left, and Barry understood what he meant.

This whole thing had something to do with the Radicals' werewolves, definitely. In other words, it could also be interpreted as a meet and greet gift from Gerrard to them.

Joshua bent down to pick up Letitia, who hadn't woken up, and his expression was cold as he took one step upstairs.

If he caught them, he would make sure all these people paid.

He hadn't shown Letitia her own room yet, and because she was injured again, he had decided to keep Letitia sleeping in his room for the next few days.

She was still wearing the silk dress, stained with blood and torn to tatters after the torture of the bestial werewolf's claws. He pursed his lips and ghostly pulled down her shoulder straps, deciding to give her a different dress.

But should he change it himself, or have the maid come up and do it?

He began to agonise.

In her sleep, Letitia frowned tightly as if she had had some kind of nightmare, and some broken moans spilt out of her lips intermittently.

She seemed to be in pain.

That feeling of worry and fear came over him again and he half knelt by the bed and gently took Letitia's hand in his.

If there had been anyone in the room, they would have seen the look that Joshua had never revealed before, that genuine worry. He restrained himself and the room was silent for a long time. His mind kept flashing back to the frightening scene he had just witnessed, the look of fear and panic on her face.

Her hands were so cold.

She almost died.

Would I have been able to find her then? If I had gone later, would she still be alive?

Joshua couldn't help but ruminate. He was finally willing to admit his worries, and he felt the aftermath of that fear.

He didn't know how long he had been hesitating, even as the sun had fallen a notch lower. In the light of the early dusk, the setting sun caressed the side of his face, leaving a soft light.

With great restraint, he slowly lowered his head in the silence and dropped a kiss as light as a butterfly on the young girl's brow.
