Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Kraig was running through the trees, when he smelled her. What the hell? He took a look around and realized he was near Nora's house. Ah, of course. She would be around here, since it is still her birthday. He hesitated for a few minutes, but decided to go take a look at her, even from a distance. She didn't have a keen sense of smell, so she couldn't know he was there.

The house was all lit up and the music was getting louder by the minute. Miss Saito was a good woman, with a very sharp sense of justice. If she knew what Kraig did, his father would hear about it.

Through the window, he saw Nora and her mother preparing more food in the kitchen. They were talking and their faces were not very good. He could guess the reason, but if his father wasn't calling him yet, it meant Delina didn't tell who her mate is. It was at the same time a good and a bad thing. Good because he wasn't in trouble, bad because it was like she wasn't recognizing him as her mate. Fuck. It is damn confusing! Kraig thought.

Going to the other window, he saw Delina sitting on the sofa, looking at her hands that held a glass of soda. Her auburn hair was covering her face, but he knew she was sad. She was wearing a green dress, with a black strap on the waist. Probably accentuating her greenish eyes. Her skin was like porcelain, and he was tempted to go inside and touch her.

When Nora appeared, Delina looked up and saw a wolf. She recognized him. Her eyes bulged, but she recomposed herself and pretended nothing happened. She got up and followed Nora to the kitchen. He went to the other window. He had to keep looking. It was all he could have.

Delina avoided looking at the window, because she could sense he was still there. It confused her. If he didn't like her, why was he watching her? Maybe he would change his mind? That lighted up her humor and she smiled. Nora didn't mention it, but she knew another werewolf was around and, looking at Delina, she could infer that it was the girl's mate. She had smelled that before, but couldn't take a hold on who it was.

"Happy Birthday, my dear! It is a very important day, because today you are of legal age. You know you can't remain at the orphanage, that is why Nora and I are offering you this gift." Elenora held a paper to Delina. She took it with shaky hands and when she read it, she screamed out of happiness.

"Oh, my Goddess!!" Nora and Elenora hugged her. Kraig was curious to know what that was about.

"Now, you are my daughter. I adopted you and the certificate arrived last week. I wanted to give it to you on your birthday. We are a family, now!" Elenora said and the three of them laughed and cried.

"You're my sister now, legally, because in my heart, you have been for a loooong while. Let me serve you your first cake slice, sister!" Nora was overwhelmed.

Kraig felt how happy Delina was and he became happy too. He just couldn't be more happy because he couldn't go inside and hug her. He decided to leave. It was too much torture. Zyon was very happy, but complaining about not being able to mark her, because her face became so beautiful with that smile, so sexy.

"Get a hold of yourself, man!" He said to himself and left.

You're an idiot! She knew it was us and she wanted us, even after you rejected her, douchbag!

"Not now, Zyon. I won't change my mind. Be happy we can still look at her from a distance and that is all we're going to have."

I need to mark her. Did you see how she was glowing? Her scent was perfect. She will forgive you and accept us if you just swallow your imbecility and go to her!

Kraig shut Zyon out of his mind and ran home. He needed a shower and to get done with his homework. Tomorrow was training and his father was pushing him, once it was near the announcement of him as the Alpha of the pack. A few months ahead, when school would be over.

He had to make Delina hate him, hate enough to stop having hope. He knew she was still trying to attract him. She may be a human, but an animal still, releasing pheromones. Tomorrow, he was going to start the plan. Zyon, who couldn't say anything, only listened, got furious.

At Saito's residence, Nora and Delina were enjoying a movie on the streaming. Elenora said she needed to sleep, because she had to go to work. Nora worked there on Sundays, so her mother could have a day off. Delina was going to ask to work there too, that way, she would have a part time job for real and start to save more money. She was now a family member of the Saito's, but yet, she dreamed of traveling and finding out about her biological parents.

"Are you feeling better now, Del?" Nora asked, patting Delina's head, which was in her lap.

"Yes. He was here." She said, distantly.

"I know. I can't recognize him, but I smelled a wolf. I know he is from our pack, so I didn't panic, but he should be a man and undo the shit he did earlier." Nora was somewhat pissed.

"Do you think he will? I mean, I didn't accept the rejection." Delina said.

"I don't even know if you have to, because you're human, but anyway, if he doesn't come around, you should accept. Don't stay attached to someone who doesn't deserve you. You are great, Del, don't accept less than that." Nora loved Delina so much it hurt. If, no, when she finds out who the hell is that stupid werewolf, she would punch him hard. It would probably break the bones in her hand, but she didn't mind at all.

Delina saw the changing expressions on Nora's face. She knew the girl was thinking hard of doing something dangerous, painful, but worth it. She couldn't hide her feelings. It was so funny. So... Nora!

The movie was over and they stayed up for a while longer chatting, until the clock reminded than it was already Saturday and they had to sleep.

"Let's go to bed." Nora said and when they arrived at Nora's bedroom, another surprise. There was another bed in there. They changed their clothes at Elenora's room. Delina even forgot about the 'surprise upstairs'.

"This is your room too, Del. Welcome home." Nora said while yawning. Soon enough both of the girls were sleeping, after a quick shower.

Kraig couldn't sleep, tossing and turning on his bed. Every time he closed his eyes, Delina's face appeared in front of him. He had the plan of going out with lots of shewolves, so Delina would understand he didn't want her, for good! But that wasn't enough, not impacting, only painful. He was going to find a way, sooner or later. It was for the greater good, he kept repeating to himself.
