Chapter 51: Hallucination

It hurt. To know she was abandoned … it hurt so much but the only thing she could do was move forward, "To live is to face trials time and time again. How you get up after every punch is how you grow stronger…oh, she's already asleep."

Mia rested her head on Isaac's lap and Isaac just continued eating jerky, feeling satisfied at his Wise Sage moment.

"Woah, you managed to put her to ease? That's impressive."

"Finally awake?"

"Have been since you arrived, but Mia needed someone to talk to. We're too close to her and sometimes, you need to have a stranger's opinion. I've got to say, you're at least better than the Demon and I."

From the hole crawled out Davil. With his draconian head and scaled humanoid body, one would guess he was someone barbaric, and to a degree that would be right. When the sun was rising, Davil face it with his arms outstretched, yawned, and stretched his body, and welcomed its light awakening the bluish scales around his body.

"That's impressive." Isaac praised, "I did not know a Draconid's scale absorbed sunlight."

"Hmm? I thought that was common knowledge? You didn't have Draconids back in your world?"

Isaac shook his head, "Let's just say they sacrificed themselves for the greater good."

"That so? Did we win against the Demons?"

"What the… how did you know? Can you read minds? If so, will you give me a scale for research purposes?"

Davil smirked, "Hmm? No on both of that. But, you should know that if Draconids are willing to go extinct in a war, it must be against Demons. It's hereditary."

The Draconid died after taking up arms against the First Demon's Takeover. The Draconid was now seen as a myth in Arcadia.

"Hooh, then it's impressive that you're able to

"Huh? Me and him working together? Bah, that one time in the Starter Town was nothing but a coincidence and this time, I was fighting for Mia. If that Judari dies I wouldn't bat an eye, peh!"

"GAHAHAHA! You and your jokes, Brother Davil! Always, the joker!"

"Shit, he's here."

Overhead came down Tari carrying a tied hog behind him and a bag of mountain vegetables. He was out hunting in the forest for normal animals. Most of the monsters from the forest may have been sacrificed to keep up the act, but the normal animals were spared.

"Brother Isaac, you're finally here! How do you feel!?" Tari tossed the hog aside and then hugged Isaac tightly as a welcome.

Isaac groaned in pain feeling his body cracking.

"Hmm? Are you still unwell, brother Isaac?" Tari asked before casting Refresh on Isaac, "How about that, better?"

"Getting better… haha, finding you was better than just waiting around in the camp."

After making sure Isaac was well and could move, Tari asked him, "Can you cook, brother?"

Tari could still remember the lingering taste of the rat Isaac cooked and it was exquisite. With a simple smile, Isaac started prepping. He broke his knife so he had to do the butchering by hand. Water was provided through magic, and though it smelled bad at first it was soon replaced by the mouth watering aroma of roasted pork and vegetables.

While Mia slept, the three men ate their breakfast prepared by the gravely injured.

"What's that about you finding new eyes? I didn't know Demons could do that. Though seeing it's still bandaged, it appears you didn't get anything."

"Oh, that, I checked if a wandering Archdemon was nearby while I was hunting. I need an Archdemon's eyes or something higher if I want to recover what I lost, though it's only possible in my eyes because of the Spirit King Eyes. The Spirit World holds many of the ethereal laws and it holds the truth of the Spirit King Eyes connected to me so if I pop in a compatible pair, it will be as if nothing ever happened though it would break the spell."

Their levels remained at the 700 mark in Isaac's eyes as well as the others. Only a select few would be able to see through the lies.

"I see, then I guess I wish you the best of luck with finding new eyes. It's nice seeing you both."

"Are you leaving?" Davil asked.

"Yes, I've gotten what I needed and confirmed what happened to you both as well as checked the Anarchy Lord. You can go to White Wing Town and meet the Town Lord, I'm sure she'll listen to you if you tell her the situation. Just bring her this letter."

Isaac handed the two the letter he prepared earlier, "Well, I need to go, I still need to go reach a place before the moon turns silver. Tell Yulia I said hi."

Isaac said his farewells and walked away.

"He said he'll return to that town when he gets the chance so maybe I should wait for him there. But, anyway, I was going to ask if Isaac was going to feed his pet, but it appears that it wasn't that hungry if it wasn't making any noise." laughed Tari.

"What are you talking about now?" Davil asked with raised brows.

"Hmm? I was talking about Isaac's pet. It was perched on the boulder earlier."

"...he did not have anyone or anything with him though? You must be hallucinating after losing your eyes." Davil confirmed.

"You think so?"

Davil did not answer, leaving Tari to his own thoughts.

'Davil must be right… I mean… that pet didn't feel normal.'
