Chapter 2: II. The Capital

Oh Lily, do not cry, our friends will always be with us in our hearts. With my little sister in my arms, the sight of my beloved friends kept shrinking and shrinking as the bumpy roofless carriage ripped us away from each other. My eyes couldn't look away, to the very last dot of waving arms, the pain in my chest of parting will forever be remembered. I can only look forward now for tomorrow, I promis I'll return and by then, I'll be teaching you, I will tell stories and tales, I will show you places, I will be your sister and you will be my siblings. Wild thoughts and far-fetched, but dreaming requires no pay and there will always be a door for everyone. From my sister, I darted my eyes towards the empty, quiet and bumpy road ahead.

Glory to the king, glory to the queen!! With something like a fog covering my vision, I can only see a man in front of .... me. As figs and dates gently hit my skin, I cannot feel the sun that's supposed to be piercing.

"What is going on" I thought

-iel? .... -riel? ...

Uriel?

A dream or a memory, I cannot reckon what it is. My eyes feels like it hasn't opened in such a long time hence I reached for them and rubbed my hands. As I remove my hands, the capital, we're finally here.

The girl on a roofless carriage pulled by a brown horse beamed at every part she can lay her eyes on. Tall establishments after the others, children running down the streets, the sound of other carriages on the busy road, she can't help but grin from ear to ear. she waved at a child holding a pouch, the little boy waved back, such small act was enough to fill the heart of the girl from a small village.

"Which house will we be living in?" Uriel enthusiastically asked

"We are almost there my child, now look after your siblings" her mother replied.

As she held unto her younger siblings' hands, she gaped at the sight of shops that sells almost about anything. At the huge street lights just as she imagined and the brick and smooth road that doesn't make the ride uncomfortable, everything is new to her.

The bustling noise of the city slowly died down as they reach a small house around the corner between other huge shops and what looked like an inn. She hopped down only to land on a pile of mud and puddle. Excited, she just wiped her soles on the part of the road that's not muddy. She ran towards the small door just enough to fit twice her petite mother's size. The smell of wood greeted the ecstatic Uriel. From the roof with water drops falling to the wooden floor with a wet part where the water touch, everything caught Uriel's eyes.

" I hope you weren't disappointed my dear, we thought we'd get a good house as well but as you can see, we'll have to fit our way in here " Her father spoke.

" Oh father, why would I be disappointed? the wooden floor is better than just soil and a roof over our head is better than nothing, the fruit of your labor is something I have no right of being disappointed nor displeased with. " Uriel reassured her father whose tall build seemed so small upon the sight of not being able to give the best to his children and wife.

Seeing her gentle father's face Uriel painted a smile on her beautiful face, she reached for her long straight brown hair and tied it on a low pigtail, she picked up the wood with her thin arms and looked at her parents.

"Let's go clean up, just tell me what I need to do" Uriel said while grinning.
