Chapter 20: Kissed Her

"Anthony, give us some privacy and keep your eyes on the toddler," Jedediah commanded.

Butler Anthony silently left the main hall. Jedediah's calloused fingers rested under Rosaline's chin. He forced her to look into his eyes.

"Why did you cry? Didn't you get scolded by your former masters while doing small chores for them?" Jedediah asked her, keeping his tone soft.

"They did scold me, but never did they tell me to help them wash," she stated. Rosaline should fear Jedediah, but she did not. It astonished him, and at the same time, it was praiseworthy in his eyes. She was outspoken and said whatever she felt.

"Do you think I harassed you? If it is so, then I apologize to you," Jedediah said with a calm voice and slowly moved his hand down.

"You did not harass me. I just did not like it when you shouted at me. I-I don't know—"
