Chapter 66: IN THE STORAGE ROOM(3)

Amid the screams that grew louder in her head, there was still a silent voice prompting her to save herself. She opened her eyes slowly and with moistened gaze, she scanned the dark room that was now lit up by the growing fire with a reddish-orange glow.

Since the room was filled with boxes, the fire could spread faster. She squinted her gaze and caught sight of a little window at the far end of the corner. Her chest heaved up and down with an unsteady pace and her breath was caught up in her throat. She felt that her head was like a large field with stampeding horses.

"Cough... cough..." the smoke made it hard to breath and irritated her eyes and it brought fresh tears down her face.

Finding the last strength she could muster, she staggered towards the window trying her best to avoid the fire. On reaching the window, she found out that it was locked and whichever strength she used to push it, it wouldn't budge.

She turned around and found out that the fire was growing larger. The heat from the fire made her skin red and she coughed vigorously from the smoke with her eyes brimming with tears.

'Am I going to die just like this?... ' her heart dropped at this thought. She expected something to happen here but this... a fire accident was definitely the last on the list.

Just as she was about to move away from the window, a large iron fell in front of her igniting flames in the boxes near her.

Out of shock and fear she shut her eyes tightly and the images of the burning house became more vivid.

"Ahhhhhhh!!!!"

She let out a loud scream and held her head tightly. Tears streamed freely down her pale face. She banged her head with her hand strongly trying to get the voices and images out of her head and she felt her breathing become shallow.

A dull pain in her chest sprang up and using her free hand, she clutched her chest tightly still with closed eyes.

"Cough...."

The smoke coming from the place only made matters worse. She slowly stepped back with hands still tightly clutched on her chest. She could feel her consciousness drifting off but with her last strength she tried to hold it back, she still had hope to live.

But how long could she keep her consciousness with the amount of smoke she had inhaled?

She slowly fell on the floor as her consciousness drifted off. The last thing she could hear was the voice of a little boy screaming her name.

"Mia, call her," Li Shen's voice rang out urgently, staring at the big double doors Kiaraa passed through a while ago and his fingers made a constant tapping noise on the table out of nervousness.

Mia nodded quickly, a slight fear creeping slowly into her heart when Kiaraa didn't return for a long time. She picked up her phone hurriedly and placed a call to Kiaraa. Just a while after she placed the call, they all heard Kiaraa's phone ringing from under the table.

Mia's hands froze.

"Shit!" Li Shen cursed under his breath, gritting his teeth. The growing urgency in his voice was now clearly evident in his expressions.

Yuna calmly bent down and picked up the phone from under the table. "She must have dropped it while rushing out to the washroom," she spoke softly but one could still detect the anxiousness in her tone.

"Bloody hell, who takes that long in the washroom. I would be a fool to really believe that she went to the washroom." Mia felt like pulling her hair in fraustration. She didn't want to rush into conclusions so she calmly stared at Li Shen and watching him pacing around while making a series of calls her fears creeped in. She knew something was wrong.

Just then, Kiaraa's phone chimed in Yuna's hand and both heads snapped towards her direction.

Watching the two Chinese teenagers staring at her like the only prey in the jungle, Yuna cautiously peeked at the phone and she realized that it was a message.

"Four?" she read it out and her brows furrowed in confusion. She raised her head slowly and gave them a questionable gaze who were now mirroring the same expression as her.

"It's from an unknown number," Yuna spoke up again and this time she got up and nervously scanned the room. The whole place was filled with different teenagers partying and drinking with loud music blaring from the speakers rather oblivious to the fact that someone was missing.

"Where's the host?" Yuna mumbled to herself. If they could find Claire, then she could alert the security and then check the security footage for Kiaraa's movement.

Mia stood up abruptly, her expression could no longer mask the fear in them.

"Shen where's your brother?" her eyes never left the door for a second as she was contemplating whether to go out and start searching for Kiaraa herself.

Li Shen sighed heavily and his hands tapped on his phone incoherently as he replied to Mia without looking at her, "Brother is handling some important matters and I can't get through to him, his phone might be switched off."

On hearing his reply, Mia could no longer be patient. She couldn't stand still and depend on others, not when she didn't know the whereabouts of her best friend.

She hastily picked up her phone and was about to dash out in search of Kiaraa when her wrist was suddenly pulled back. She turned back and was stunned to see Li Shen's cold gaze directed at her.

She was momentarily shocked at the change of his temperament. Even if she hadn't known him for long she would never have imagined that he could give out such a frosty look.

Li Shen quickly masked his cold expression and his gaze returned to normal as if it was all an illusion. "Stay put, one missing person, I can handle but two... This hotel is massive, where would you begin your search even if I let you go?

"It's rather we stay calm and tackle this situation calmly. I've sent some men and they are already in search for her. In the mean time, it's best I try to get across to brother."
