Chapter 6: First Day (Part 2)

Mr. Kaulo sighed as he nodded. "Just One. Are you aware of what happens when one's soul is taken?"

Inna nodded. "A multitude of things can occur. They could outright die or be driven mad from the pain. It is said to be extremely painful to have one's soul removed, though I wouldn't know the truth in that. The third and most likely option is that they morph into an entity called a horror. These beasts look mostly human, but they crave for death and destruction. It is unknown whether or not it's possible to cure them, but doing so would be a monumental task, and likely a foolish endeavor."

Mr. Kaulo sighed in resignation. "Alright, Alright. You've convinced me. You sound like you know more than me, so I won't bother you anymore. Though, feel free to speak up if you have any questions. That goes for everyone." Again, Mr. Kaulo began his lecture. Various students would ask questions, and he would diligently answer every one. Despite Inna making a bit of a fool out of him, she respected him, he was a good teacher.

.....

Class was dismissed, and Inna went directly to the cafeteria. She sat down at a table and ordered her meal and a cup of water. Moments later, the food was presented on her table. Just as she was about to begin eating, the trio of kids along with Ember approached. Inna audibly sighed. Her face was impassive, and the blonde haired boy was the first one to speak.

"Hello. I'm Leon." He motioned to the tall brown haired boy. "This is Draven" Finally, he motioned to the girl by his side. "and this is Juno. Mind if we sit?"

"Be my guest. I'm Inna, in case you were wondering." She spoke softly, just before she began to eat her meal.

Ember sat down next to Inna. Her fiery red hair bounced lightly, the curls were untameable. She ordered her meal, and shortly afterwards, everyone began eating. Inna stayed away from commenting or speaking at all as she ate. She was extremely quiet. It wasn't that she had nothing to talk about. It was the fact that Leon, the hero type, would most likely annoy her.

"So where are you from, Inna?" Leon's voice abruptly cut off her thoughts. He seemed genuinely curious. Inna was sure his intentions were harmless.

"I'm not from around here. In fact, you wouldn't have any idea if I told you. The place is extremely far away." Inna's voice was impassive and cold. She wasn't lying; it would be nearly impossible for anyone to go to her home. Breaking the laws of time would assuredly cause one to be hunted.

"Fair enough I suppose." Leon seemed content with that answer, but the brown haired boy, Draven, was not.

He was the next one to speak. "I doubt there's any place that I wouldn't know, wh-"

"I'm from Halifax. Ever heard of it?" Inna's voice was full of annoyance as it cut off the rest of his sentence. Of course, this place didn't exist within this world. It was merely an answer to placate the curious youth.

The brown haired boy thought about it for a moment. His eyes narrowed suspiciously as he answered. "Halifax? I've never heard of it."

The girl, Juno was the next one to speak up. "Come on Draven, Leave her alone. It's not like the answer really matters."

Ember nodded peacefully as she ate her meal. It was a seasoned steak. Inwardly, Ember was shocked at what Inna was eating. Inna had eaten some kind of raw fish in the form of rolls. Inna had eaten sushi.

Inna stood up after she had finished eating. The plate that previously housed her food faded into thin air. She spoke softly. "Well, I'll see everyone in the next class." With that, she began walking towards her next class.

.....

The next class was combat training. Inna was excited. This would be the most entertaining part of her days here.

She entered into a large training hall. Various kinds of weapons littered the back wall, spears, swords, axes, polearms, daggers, etc. In the middle of the room, there was a raised platform with a rather lean woman practicing her swordsmanship. Her emerald green hair was truly an oddity. Aside from the raised platform in the center, there were other various types of equipment, a rock climbing wall, ropes, archery ranges. Just about anything one would need for physical activities

She stopped when she noticed Inna, who was looking around the training room curiously. Inna had seen some of this equipment before, but for all of it to be here, alongside the almost medieval architecture. It was definitely not normal.

The green haired woman approached Inna. "Are you in the next class? You're here early." She spoke with her arms crossed, as if she was annoyed by Inna's interruption.

Inna was snapped out of her thoughts by the young woman's voice. She seemed to be annoyed for some reason, and Inna wasn't sure why. "Yes. I'm in S Class. This is the next class area, is it not?"

The green haired lady harrumphed before she began speaking. "Yes. Your next class will be in here. I am Ms. Sersk, the teacher. Take a seat and wait for the rest of your classmates to arrive."

Inna was annoyed by this woman's demeanor. Ms. Sersk seemed like the type of woman who would never speak their mind, and constantly, they would deny their own feelings. This type of person could easily push all of her buttons. Nonetheless, she still proceeded to the designated spot and laid down, stretching out. Soon after, Inna had unknowingly drifted off to sleep.

.....

Inna snapped awake, her arm moved quickly, grabbing the boot coming for her. Someone had attempted to kick her. Inna's sunglasses dissipated, and her empty void black eyes bore into a black haired youth.

The girl who attempted to kick Inna was surprised when her foot was suddenly grabbed. She almost fainted when Inna stared at her. She had never seen anyone so scary in her life. The girl stumbled backwards, as Inna's eyes seemed to be sucking the life from her. The woman's complexion slowly became more and more ashen. Just when the girl was about to faint, Inna spoke. "Next time, just ask me to move. Wouldn't want anyone to get hurt, would we?"

The girl nodded as she gulped. "No, we wouldn't." After that, Inna said nothing more, as she sat up, giving her full attention to Ms. Sersk.

Ms. Sersk, the woman on the stage had saw Inna's interaction. She said nothing, however. This was a world where the strong ruled, and the weak banded together to protect themselves. She knew that all too well. She decided now was a good time to start the explanation. "Now then. Today will be introductory. Everyone will spar with me, so that I might gauge your abilities. That will be all that happens today. Tomorrow, you'll split up into groups of two and spar against each other. Now then, whoever is ready and willing, please come forward."

Almost a full hour later, and almost every sparring match that went up thus far was over after about a minute. It continued like this for just about everyone. At last, Inna began paying attention, because the next person to waltz onto the stage, was Leon. Inna didn't particularly care about him, but she was curious to know what power the hero of this world would possess.

.....

Almost all of the 'heroes' Inna had met in previous worlds had a special type of soul power. She was fairly certain it wasn't actually discovered, so she named it the 'Hero Soul'. Usually this type of wielder would have a few unique properties. They would get stronger based on how strong their opponent was, or how likely they were to win. Usually, there was also some bizarre trigger that would activate a second power, or unlock some hidden ability. It was always different for every "hero". Sometimes it would be the death of a loved one, or a kidnapping. Something that was bound to happen in the hero's life.

Aside from the 'Hero Soul', there was also a 'Villain Soul' and her own 'Void Soul'. The Villain soul would typically be extremely strong against just about anyone. The wielder would always be extremely difficult to kill. They had one glaring weakness though. The 'Villain Soul' was always countered by the 'Hero Souls' hidden ability. This always caused Inna to wonder who truly built this system, and why. Her own soul, the 'Void Soul' was even more peculiar.

The 'Void Soul' had only ever been found within herself. Never in any of her various lives had she ever found a second one. The 'Void Soul' she possessed had only one ability, the ability to consume.
