Chapter 43: The Start of the School Life part 1: Chapter 42

After I got back from sleeping for the entire night, I was greeted the next morning by a delivery service where I was met with a lot of letters and gifts from the academy. One was a recommendation for a scholarship, there was also a congratulatory letter for me passing and a letter that had the results I got from the physical test. It said that I was around rank-D and that if it helps, showing this card to the hunters association, they could be willing to change my current rank-F to the measured rank-D from the academy. Aside from this letters, a box was also brought to my apartment. It had the same logo as the academy and looking from its design, I was quite curious as to what was inside of it.

As I slowly opened the box, I was amazed to find 5 sets of uniforms perfectly folded on top of one another and beside it were the necessities needed for any student that was going to attend the school, things like a sling bag, two notebooks, a personal tablet, a refillable pen and most of all, my ID that had everything written in my profile.

The ID showed a lot of information about me, from my name, birthday, ID number, and most of all, my rank. Although the rank was only accessible to the owner with the use of a fingerprint function. It was a pretty high-tech looking ID as it showed a lot features. Like how it was waterproof , it had a QR code which I presumed was used for students who were living in a student dorm, a wallet system was also put into the ID where you can put in your bank account as a function to be a wallet when purchasing some stuff from the cafeteria.

After admiring the functions of the ID and all the other items, all I could was…

"Damn…this is pretty legit." it was an honest n remark that clearly hid my excitement towards the upcoming days of the school arc.

After looking through the gifts, I remained standing through the letters and tried to think of something to do before school would start. Luckily one of the letters mentioned me being able to changed my rank so if I was able to do so, then it was likely that if I did changed my rank then I can be able to enter a more higher ranked gate than the what I usually entered. This also meant that my profit towards hunting harder enemies would grow.

So it was obvious on what I was going to do for the rest of my days while waiting for school to start. Its obviously not a way for me to busy myself from the reminder of what happened last night…its obviously not.

"...lets get going then."

***A few days later.

As early as 6:00 am in the morning, the sound of the rails running through the tracks could be heard and the voices of students and workers filled the very train that I rode on.

It was pretty packed knowing that today was the day school was finally about to start and seeing as how a lot of students were here, I felt a little nervous of what was to come towards today.

There were a lot of students, but not a lot of them wore the same uniform I did. Some were different and looking from how many were the same as mine, it could only be counted by how many fingers and toes I got.

'Around 17 students wear the same uniform as I do in this section of the train. The others either go to a public school or a private school' as I thought through this packed train, the speaker of the train turned on and announced its destination.

After it turned off, the doors of the train opened and I was instantly pushed out of the train by the sheer number of those students that got off. I simply rode the wave of those students who were just as excited as I was.

The moment I stepped off the train, I was met with a lot of students who were going their way to the school gate. Seeing this mob, I simply followed their direction.

'...Okay then, time to be the one thing I've always dreamed of whenever I had the chance to be in a novel. Like those MC's I enjoyed reading by the manga's. Those gosh darn hypocrites who act all weak and shriveled but are actually the badass of the story. I too wanna be the Side Character!' I say to myself knowing full well that I too was a hypocrite.

As we walked down the road, some students could see the very castle of the academy towering itself over the walls. And from their genuine reaction, it was all excitement towards what was coming their way. A life field with what was literally the definition of an adventure.

Not long after walking down the road, the gates were now seen and opened for the students to enter. One by one, each student that walked through the gate was coming out smiling.

I on the other hand noticed a lot of things aside from the gate. With my enhanced senses, I noticed one of the major factors at the start of this school arc.

One was that not a lot of guards were placed in the front and instead some noble looking kids were up and upon glazing each and every student that was coming through the gate. I could tell that these students were nothing more than recruiters for the potential members that was going to enter their own social group.

In the novel, it was called 'Social Hunting'. it's a pretty wild name for the first day of school. But it was understandable knowing that social groups were a form of hierarchy in the school. The more members the better but the stronger the member then its way more likely that it is better. One example is the main character Arthur Rhodenfield, although his only partner in a social group was Licia Von Roseivolt they were ranked number one in all platforms of activities from the past year. They were strongest group of that year.

And as such, quality was always better then quantity when the quality of your product was as pure as someone like Arthur.

Right now, what I intend to do for the time being is to live life like a side character. I don't need a social group. So my first hurdle of the day was to get past through the eyes of those hunting that was before the gate. Luckily I had a skill that was perfect for the job.

As I covered myself in a group of students in the back, I instantly used my skill.

"Lights reflection."

It didn't took a second before my skill activated and I vanished like a ghost. After this, I just casually walked down the road of the academy until I reached a point were their eyes weren't in reach. I deactivated my skill and proceeded to walk to my class room in the first year.

"Lets see…its says here in my card that I'm in section C. hmm, its pretty standard I guess."

Knowing what section I belonged to, I made my way through each and every room possible searching for my respected room, I asked a few questions from the guards because the academy was too big just for me to wander and search for it on my own. And after moments of wandering through the academy, I was finally able to find my classroom.

As I slowly approached the door, I was suddenly pushed aside by someone.

*thud*

"...?" I turned to look at her and found that this was a female student who in all manner of character was typically branded as the delinquent. Her red short hair was like that of a flame with a tinge of yellow strands that matched as a fashion choice, her uniform was worn so loosely that instead of buttoning it up, she left it be and simply wore a black shirt under it. Her skirt was somewhat more longer than the rest of the female students and for some reason, she didn't carry a bag but carried a bat instead, a bat used for baseball.

"Oy, move it." and from her voice alone, I presumed she was a bit of a smoker since her voice was a bit rough. Either that or she naturally has a low voice.

"...Yeah, sorry." I simply apologized to her and moved away while she entered the class.

I followed by her next and entered the class too.

"Hmm…" when I entered the room, I could already see that some of the students were already inside. Some were chatting with one another, other's just played with their phones and some just quietly sat down at their own chair.

I looked to the board to try to find what chair I was in, and luckily enough I was placed right by the entrance of the room. When I went to sit down, I was immediately handed over a piece of paper from one of the students who sat behind me.

"...!?" When I turned around to see who it was, I was surprised to find out that a female student was sitting behind me.

Her long dark blue hair was paired together with her sky blue eyes, and looking at it somewhat throw me off. Paired with her serious expression, I was just taken aback by her soft eyes and seeing her try to pass me the paper, i just went and received it.

When I did receive it, it was a attendance paper for the whole students who was assigned at each chair. So I simply wrote down my name and passed it back to the woman, but she didn't accepted it.

"Past it on to the girl who you walked in here with. The girl with the red hair." she said.

"Oh, okay." I complied and just stood up from my chair and walked up to the delinquent looking classmate of mine.

When I went to find her place in the room, I found that she was placed opposite of where I was placed. In the back of the class near the window.

When I went to approach her, she in turn glared back at me.

"..." I stopped in my tracks for a second before moving forward.

"Here." I said while passed on the paper to her.

"...Whats this?" she didn't bother to reach out her hand and instead question what it was.

"Its the attendance." I said while looking a bit annoyed over her attitude.

"...*Sigh*…fine." she reluctantly accepted the paper and I went back to my chair.

After minutes of waiting in class,I tried to pass the time by simply observing each and every student that was in the class. I noticed that some of the people where giving off a different vibe from the others, some were strong, other's were weak. Some were nobility and others where commoners. I could simply tell from the way they talked and acted with one another.

"There's thirty students all in all and almost half of the students here are nobility." I said to myself while I was glancing over the students.

A couple of minutes later, the teacher finally arrived at the class.

She walked in looking a bit gloomy and sad, with dark bags under her eyes. She wore a labcoat and was walking in her with sneaker shoes. Aside from her long unkept hair, bad fashion choice and a slim waist that covered over by her lab coat, she seemed like a beautiful lady.

I thought that maybe she just came from a party and that she usually doesn't look like this. This was my thought and hope but that all changed when I found her purse was carrying a flask. It was a major red flag for me.

'...hmm'

"Okay…ugh my head hurts." at her first attempt at communicating with the students, her hangover took place.

'Yeah she's drunk.'

"Ahem! Anyway my name is Ms. Eva Von and I am your Homeroom teacher. I specialize over the elemental aspects of magic and its properties. When…ugh my head…when, I mean if you have any questions towards elemental magic, I'm your go to gal." she said while she was feeling the effects of a heavy hangover.

".…" this isn't what a teacher should do though.

"Anyway, looking from the attendance, it looks like everyone is here, so that means we can proceed by calling your name and introducing yourselves to the rest of the…Blegh-…class…" At the end, she seemed like she was going to barf.

"...Starting with Hamil Crux. Introduce your name where you live and also tell us things like your magical aptitude and such."

"...Okay." I said while nervously facing the class.

"Hello, my name is Hamil Crux, I live at fester town, and I mainly use a shield and spear as my weapon…that's all."

"Hmm, too boring, what about your magical aptitude, you know, the element of your magic and stuff?"

"Magical aptitude?"

"Do you not know your element?" she said, genuinely curious of what I was lacking.

"...No."

"Hmm, weird. Will okay then. Will pass on to the next student…Sofia Del Dmitriy."

As she said this student's name, the person who sat behind me suddenly stood up and said her piece.

"My name is Sofia Del Dmitriy of the Dmitriy Family, I live in the central capital of the Kastelyst Kingdom and my main element is Water and Air.

Hearing this being said, I came to know that she was a noble.

"Okay then, next is…."

As the students went on one by one introducing themselves, it all finished with the delinquent who sat last at the room.

"Next is Sarah Kenley."

"...I'm Sarah Kenley and my element is fire."

"hmm, okay then. That marks up all the students. looks like I've gotten to know more you and your element, all except you Hamil."

"...I'm sorry."

"Don't be, come with me after class and we can figure out your element together."

"Yes ma'am."

"Okay then, next up is introducing your rankings between each student of this class. The academy has evaluated your potential and your strength when you took on the test of both physical and the scholar test."

She then turns around to face the board and puts up the rolled up poster onto the board.

The board showed two classes of sections that divided the strength of each class. One was their ranking in the scholar test and the other was their ranking in the practical test.

As it fully rolled down, every was surprised to see the results of the board.

I too was surprised.

What showed before me was something I deemed a bit of a hassle to comprehend.

At the Practical Test, I was ranked second…this was deemed to have a lot of potential and for the Scholar test, I was placed in the third rank. Seeing how high my results were, I was pretty much taken aback. I mean I could have expected the practical test but seeing me in the scholar test in third place meant that Hamil Crux was a smart guy…I suddenly remembered all those test papers layed out on my apartment, I could finally see how much effort Hamil did put in to make it this far.

After admiring my results I went to look back to who were the other students who took the top five.

I was surprised to see that Sarah Kenley was in the third place for the practical rank and around 28th in the scholar rank, while Sofia Del Dmitriy was First in the Scholastic rank but around 15th place in the practical test.

The student who got first place in the practical test however was a kid named Remmy Polinske but his scholastic rank was at 13th and the student who got second place in the scholastic test was a kid named Rebertha Don Dumis but her practical test was at 11th place.

These kids were somewhat balancing their rank on both the Scholar aptitude and the Practical test…it was pretty funny to look at.

".…Hmm?" all of a sudden, I felt like something was poking behind my back. When I turned to look on what it was, I was shocked to see that almost half of the students were looking my way.

One particular person who caught my attention however was Sarah Kenley. Her Raging glare was like a burning laser that was going my way.

"Eh?"
