Chapter 54: Apology: Chapter 53

Tears were the after-result of a human's pure emotion.

It could have either be the emotion to cry out of the pure stress of life.

It could have been because of physical pain one had to endure until his death.

Or maybe the pure relief that his dream or wish was granted with such peace.

But in all cases of tears falling from a person's eye, it was all just a result of a person being an emotional entity.

Like the boy who cried over the result of his life being burdened by the expectations and betrayals of his actions.

He remembered back when his life was as simple as that of a turning wheel. Spinning only for the purpose of a vehicle to move, and for him, living for only the purpose to enjoy life. He would live his life like most children out there in the world would, filled with laughs, smiles and maybe sometimes tears.

He wondered how it all changed…why his life after his youth was all but a simple and repetitive process of eating, sleeping, and working…he wondered why his life after his youth was nothing more than a dull and stagnant event.

He wondered and he wondered until one day his sin was revealed. A sin that he committed at such a young age. An action that even when he was young, he knew it was wrong but was forgotten because of the passing of time.

It all came back at the touch of a reminder from a rock that fell from the heavens.

"Ah, I remember now." he said this with such a clear but putrid tone. it was a tone that resembled him of wanting to vomit at his place. A sore tone filled with regret.

Tears started to swell over his eyes and the wish to run away from this memory was the only thing in his mind, but his regrets remained and shackled him straight down to this memory lane.

It was impossible to run away from a guilt of this major.

Knowing the futility of running away, he had no other choice but to face the troubles of his past.

As he took the first step, he was met with a white metal door.

The size of the door was nothing special but it's purpose to act as the entrance beyond it had more meaning to him than any other object beside him.

As he slowly reached for the door, he had doubts of whether or not he should do what he should do at the moment.

But in the end, his fear overgrew him and he decided to leave the door and walked away.

But as he turned away from the door, a voice suddenly called out to him.

"...jay"

It was a weak and shrivel voice that not a lot of people could notice.

But he noticed it.

He knew this voice all to well to just ignore it.

"...jay, where's jay?" the voice was soft and sincere in its request.

"..." But the boy stood in silence as he listened to the voice on the other side of the door.

His hand was shaking and his mind was slowly starting to fill itself with the fear of something he couldn't fully explain.

But the voice calls out to him yet again.

"Jay…"

"..."

***

It has been days since the disaster struck his home, his friends and his family.

For days he has heard nothing but the terrible news over this terrible tragedy.

He hoped that the rest of his family was found alive and well but that hope was crushed by the sight of his mother being carried on the backs of a empty citizen.

His sister who was missing throughout the days, was found buried under a roof that was piled over by a landslide.

Knowing that this happened, he could only stand in silence while his mind was filled with the denial to believe such tragedy. A child was left such a trauma.

With no choice whatsoever, he was left to carry this burden all to his young mind. He was left to experience his family be buried at such a young age

The ceremony for their burial was the hardest thing he could ever do with his life. To see his mother and sister be buried at the same day made him weep uncontrollably. With his father being absent from the event because of a coma, he could only lean to the denial of such tragedy. Not a single one of his relatives were there to fully control the boy's feelings and not once were they able to fully understand the suffering of this day.

The day after the burial, the boy was left all alone with a memory that held such a burden to remember the event.

As a month passes by, his father awoke from his coma.

Hearing this made the boy feel a tinge of conflicted emotions swell inside him.

He could not think of what to do after hearing the news of his father waking up from the coma. What would happen if he told him of what happened to his wife and daughter. What would happen to the boy itself if he confronted the man who wasn't there for him at the hardest time of his life.

He was just a boy that didn't even pass his teen years, so he couldn't understand where and how he should feel.

He just felt betrayed by the idea of his father never being there for him.

As he stood conflicted over his choice of action, the doctor came with a piece of news that wasn't so appealing.

He heard of the word cancer.

And he heard the number of the days his father has left to live.

He could do nothing but stand even more depressed, as if the world was playing by his emotions like a sad fiddle.

At this point in life, he had no idea how to feel or what to feel, all happy emotions from the boy was thrown out and all that was left was the sad realization of his conflicted ideas and emotions.

His young mind felt betrayed for no good reason.

He got scarred to a point that if he did meet his father once again, he might come to a point that he would hate the man

So as the doctor asked that he should spend his time with his father so preciously, the boy could only look in fear over the word "time" and "spend".

"..."

As the time came when people were allowed to meet his father, he too came to approach him, but he was to distant to a point that he could no longer feel a kind connection between him and his father.

Although his relatives told him of the burial ceremony for his wife and daughter, the father could only look at the boy with such grieving look, but the boy could never fully look to the father's way.

As time went by, the boy and the father's connection was never again recovered.

Two months passed and the father was at his death bed.

Knowing that he was dying , all he could ever request was for his son to look his way so that he could apologize.

But the son never came.

As his heart monitor continued to slow down…his heart, filled with sadness was left with no patches and soon came to a stop.

Seeing this memory slowly come back to him, he finally remembered his sin.

He abandoned a man who was also broken by the lost of his love ones.

He abandoned his father.

As years pass and as the boy lived his life all to his mid-twenties, he finally came to terms with his conflicted emotions. He came to understand what he should have done, but it was too late.

He wanted to repent

He wanted to apologize

For him, his only chance to apologize was back when his father wanted to apologize back…But it was all to late.

It was all to late, until a second chance was brought to him by a God.

And now beyond that metal white door was a chance.

A chance to repent.

".…jay"

His father called out to him as much as he could.

"..."

The tears wouldn't stop flowing as he gritted his teeth over this frustration.

As slow as he did, he gathered his courage with a single thought in mind.

'Dad…' his call to his father was the only thing he could ever think off in his mind.

As he grabbed the handle, he slowly opened the door.

***

*Beep* *Beep* *Beep* *Beep* *Beep* *Beep*

The heart monitor continued to beep as it showed how low his father condition was.

"..." beyond him was a man whose eyes were closed and his life was hanging by a thread.

"...jay." his father's shriveled voice showed such a sincere tone over just the call of his name even when he was unconscious during this time.

"..." He knew that his father was dying by the minute.

"Dad…" so he called out to him.

"..Hnn~" his father's reaction to his call made him wake up from his unconscious state.

"...Jay…I'm.." with his efforts to keep his eyes open to see his son, he smiled so sincerely that tears came flowing down to his cheeks. His voice was cracked because of how much he wanted to cry at this moment.

Seeing his father struggle to apologize, he had the urge to hold the man's hand for one last time. He slowly but surely resolved himself to approach him, but as he went to reach out his hand, his father spoke again with his arms out to reach for the boy.

"I'm so-"

But the apology was cut.

And the boy found himself laying injured on the ground while his arms was out to reach for something. He looked like a newly born baby out to reach for their parent's arms.

"...Ah…No…no…no…" he was distraught by what happened…it was too sudden…he didn't have enough time to reach his hand…he didn't have enough time to apologize back.

Knowing this, tears started to erupt from his eyes and rain started to fall from the heavens.

".…" the sound of each pitter and patter of rain blocked the cry of a boy who missed his chance at an apology.

This time again, he was to slow to take action…

And the rock that once laid by the center of his chest was no longer there.

also, if you have any comments as to how i write, please tell me as strictly as you can, because i am a very stupid man who is usually late to realizing the issues of my work.
