Chapter 84: A Dream Beyond Fear: Chapter 82

As the students were seen finally coming back from their activity, one by one, Professor Hosea was going through the attendance of each student who either completed the activity or those who didn't.

The two hours were almost over and soon he could check that most of the students were back at the safe-point. Almost half of the students were able to find what was needed in the list while half of them weren't able to complete it. And one particular student in question wasn't even able to collect even just one piece of the material in the list. That particular student was Hamil.

It was odd to find that when Hamil came walking to the safe-point, he was showing a pale expression and an indifferent look. He wasn't injured per say, but his entire presence felt uncomfortable to the rest of the students. When Prof. Hosea came to talk to him, Hamil simply said that he's bad luck was entirely at fault for him not finding a single piece of item listed.

Seeing as how something must have happened to him deep inside the forest, the Professor simply accepted his excuse even though he looked incredibly terrible from his expression alone.

When Hamil's friends came to see his condition, they were worried and asked what happened to him, but all he gave back in return was the same excuse about his 'Bad Luck'.

Martha came and saw his condition as well but didn't try to approach him, Iris on the other hand was shocked to see that Hamil was exerting a powerful presence that only she could see in her eyes. The presence around him was dominating as if each second that she looks towards his way, she could feel a scent of endearing authority.

She thought that she might have been seeing things, but looking again, she could not doubt in her mind that Hamil was…different than what she would usually fear and adore.

This feeling of being allured by his presence was making her even uncomfortable. so much so that she needed to finally confront him…to ask why she was feeling this particular sensation in her body towards him. To do this, she needed to ask him in private.

After the activity finished, Hamil came out of the gate with a tired expression and a troubled mind. When he came out, he simply decided to go to the train station and wait for the train to come by. As he waited, he was constantly meddling with his silver ring and looking into a particular item inside its storage.

'...what is this?' he asked to himself.

'...A Golden Blue Flower…I don't think this was ever written in the book before.'

Having no information about this particular flower, he had to figure out what it was and why it was left to him when he got out of the Fog. He couldn't ask the professors about this because they might take it away from him just like what happened with Arthur. This particular item was in need of looking into and the only connections he knew about was the contact information numbers inside his phone which was given to him by Ranzy.

"...Maybe I can ask them about this…maybe" he said to himself, but then another doubt came to mind.

What if the people he was about to ask are just as Greedy as those professors in the academy. He probably shouldn't risk the chance of making this flower be looked into by such people…so to know the authenticity of their character is to find someone who can vouch their personality as a whole.

"...Maybe I can ask Henry about this…ask him if the people in the contacts can be trusted." he said to himself.

So quickly, he pulled out his phone and called out to Henry, the butler of Ranzy.

[...Mr. Hamil, how may I be of service to you?] said the butler in a rather formal tone.

"...Henry., can I ask you about the people written in my contacts?"

[your contacts, I see...Who are you trying to contact Mr. Hamil?]

"...I'm not sure yet, but I need someone who specializes in plants…"

[Hmm, if you want to find someone of such character, then I can recommend Mrs. Peltrot. She specializes in all manners of vegetation…from simple plants to otherworldly natures.]

"I see, so how much can I trust her?"

[What do you mean?]

"...like is she an honorable and righteous person? Or does she have a bad reputation of backstabbing people?"

[....]

"Henry?"

[...can I ask what you are trying to do Mr. Hamil?]

"...No you can't…I'm sorry" said Hamil as he apologizes for denying Henry's question.

[...I see, well I can certainly guarantee that she is quite a person…she was described to be merciful and Benevolent …or so I heard from one of her students.]

"...can I meet with her?" asked Hamil as he thought of giving it a shot of talking with such a person.

[Well if you want to meet her personally, I suggest that you tell her of your connection with the Savez family. Tell her and she might just meet with you.]

"I see, thank you Henry." said Hamil as he then cuts off the call.

He then went into the phone's contacts yet again and went to a number that was named Mrs. Poltret [Veggie Teacher]. the naming sense was weird and it made Hamil think of Ranzy being the person responsible for. He thought that maybe these two were somehow close based off of how weird Mrs. Poltret was named in the contacts. He smiles to how funny this joke was and proceeded to call the number.

*Ring*

*Ring*

*Ring*

Just as the call was picked up, a person suddenly stands in front of Hamil looks to him with a scared expression.

"...?" Hamil looks to the person and saw that this person was none other than Iris, the girl who uses a bow and was a person who he had a mark at the back of her neck. The mark symbolizes her connection with the betraying people of the lost kingdom.

With her standing in front of him, Hamil could not help but glare at her direction. Seeing as she was there, he decided to not call Mrs. Poltret yet. so he puts back his phone inside his pocket and looks to Iris.

"..!!" the girl was frightened the moment he stared at her.

"What do you want?" asked Hamil as he stood with crossed arms.

"...I..I wanna ask you something." she said with her shaking voice, clearly showing her fear towards him.

"What?" Hamil sounded uninterested and annoyed by her presence. He wanted to not involve himself with the people just yet…as he believed that he wasn't yet ready to face them. He was uncertain of how to act to the people with him showing no power at all…no feats to show.

"...I-" but just as she was about to say something, the train finally arrives and she was cut off from speaking.

"The train's here, I gotta go. Maybe we can talk tomorrow..." Said Hamil as he walks pass her and enters the train.

"..." Iris stood with sad expression on her face, as if she had failed to do something as simple as talk to the person. She gripped her hand in anger turned to face him, not willing to let things go.

"Please, don't go!" she screamed in frustration and the people around them reacted to the shout. People looked to their way and tried to see what was happening. Some thought it was a lover's quarrel and it made others murmur with excitement.

But Hamil only stood with a calm expression on his face as he stands inside the train.

"..." seeing as how people were looking their way, Hamil sighed exhaust and gestured to Iris to get in the train so that they could talk.

"...!" Iris was surprised to see his choice and decided to quickly get in the train. Soon the train made its way and Iris remained to stand with Hamil's side inside the train.

"..." silence was all there was in the train between the two. With one not so willing to talk and the other who was too nervous to even speak.

With the train getting more and more crowded for every station that its stops by, Iris couldn't help but stick close to Hamil so that she wouldn't lost sight of him. After the third station that passes, they were now skin to skin with each other. Their uniforms couldn't help but touch each other from how crowded the train was.

And even with this much, Iris still couldn't speak to Hamil and Hamil remained silent all through out the ride.

After finally arriving at the next station which was towards fester town, Hamil got off the train and Iris followed by him.

During the silent and awkward walk, Hamil finally decided to say something.

"What do you want?" he asked with his calm but cold tone.

"I..I wanna ask you about something." said Iris.

"...Did you wanna thank me for saving you back at the class rumble?" asked Hamil.

"N-no, but thank you for that..." said Iris.

"What is it then?" asked Hamil.

"H-have we meet before?" asked Iris as she was reminded of the fact that her familiarity with Hamil was too distinct. As every time she would look at him, a sense of connection was felt inside of her.

"No." said Hamil with a direct face.

"Then why do I feel like I know you from somewhere." she said as she gripped down at her hands…her frustration for every time she would see him was making her very agitated and desperate.

The sad expression she showed towards Hamil made him look to her with concern…he thought that if he keeps acting distant to her, then he might ruin something in the future. Maybe it wasn't right to distance himself from them…

"..." as he looks to her, he simply stops in his path and stared at her with a willing and more serious expression.

"All I can tell you is that you don't have to be afraid of me…"

"What?"

"Trust me Iris." he said as he raises his hand to signify he's want to gain her trust.

"...I" but looking at his hand, she couldn't help but show a tinge of fear.

"..." seeing as how her fear over him had completely made her hesitant, Hamil didn't forced himself to her and puts away his hand.

"...I do trust you…but I can't help but be scared of you. I don't know why." said Iris.

"...I see." as he accepted Iris's reason he simply smiled at her and continued on to walk back home.

"Do you have anything else to ask me?" asked Hamil ask they made their way to the apartment.

"...No, I'm sorry for wasting your time." said Iris as she stops following Hamil. She looked to him with a sad expression and slowly turned away from him.

"..." as she walked away from Hamil, she couldn't help but be angry at herself. She failed to find the reason for why she was feeling like this. As her fear completely devoured her, it felt like this was forever going to be a problem for her.

"...Iris." suddenly Hamil called out to her out of worry.

"..." hearing his voice, she slowly turned back to face him. As she did, she could see his figure stand before her…the simple pose of his stature made it feel weird for her…it was as if that stance alone was very reminiscing to her.

"Take care." he said his goodbyes and made his way away from her.

***

As night came, Iris was at the dining table at her house, eating with her father. She still had that sad look in her face that made it obvious for her father to notice.

"What's wrong?" asked his father.

"...It's nothing. I just had a bad day at school." said Iris as she stood up from the table and left the dining room. From her unfinished plate and sour mood, her father could tell that it was probably right to leave her alone.

As she made her way upstairs to her room, she quickly went to bed and tried to sleep the night away.

But the moment she closed her eyes, a vision was suddenly held in her mind…the same nightmare that haunted her for all of her life started to appear yet again.

She found herself standing in a dune of sand, where thousands of pillars that reached the heavens were found standing in front of her…Each of those pillars felt menacing to her telling her to leave and never come near them…she wasn't allowed to approach or touch them…because if she did, "That" person will appear before her and erase her from existence.

".…" She was unable to leave the pillars or the spot where she was standing. She could already guess what would happen next in the dream because she would only remain still in the blazing sun: she would see swords descend from the sky. One by one, each sword fell, and they all landed on her side of the dune. Usually, she would be impaled straight down by the swords, each one striking different parts of her body.

But for some reason…something was different about this dream…when she came to cover herself from the raining swords, expecting pain, what she came to find instead was the shade of a person that stood to protect…her.

"...What?" this was different.

When she came to the full view of the scene, she was amazed to find that the swords were nowhere near her and the person who protected her was standing beside her with a gaze who she found to be familiar…a gaze both feared and allured.

"...My lord." and there, she spoke the same words she would say to a person who she respectfully appreciated.

The person stood there and for some reason, she couldn't identify the person no matter how much she was sure of herself…that this person was the same one as his savior…but for some reason, she could not see his face.

She tried to reach out to grab his arm to feel his touch, but to no avail the figure was never close to her reach…it was as if this figure was never reachable in the first place..it was as if this was just an illusion.

"..." Realizing this, tears began to fall from her eyes and sadness began to overwhelm her…

"Why now…now that I'm not afraid of you…why can't I reach you."

The figure could only look to her and smile… and the smile assured her…it made her feel safe…but her tears were the things made her feel hurt more than anything.

Soon the figure was slowly fading away into the sun's scorching light…and when he was gone, Iris with her lone figure, could only stand all alone again in the Dune.

"..." no swords came to rain down at her…no fear was left at her heart…but regret remained for the uncertainty of what was to come her way.

".…" when she awoke from her nightmare, she could feel the dampness of her pillow from her tears.

"..." feeling alone, she wanted to be certain…she needed to hurry.

She wanted to see if she could finally look at her lord the same way she did in her dream.

Running as fast as she could, she ran and ran all up to the train station.

With her wrinkly uniform and messy hair, anyone could tell that this person was quite in a rush.

A rush to meet someone.

As early as she was, she stood in front of the train station, waiting for that person to arrive.

"..." she waited.

And waited.

And waited.

"...Hey." and suddenly, a voice called out to her.

As she turned her way to the voice, she was amazed.

The boy who she once feared and both respected…stood in front of her…

And the only feeling that came to her heart was relief…

To see a person eye to eye without fear…it gladdened her.

"...*sniff*" she couldn't help but sniffle in her tears , as the joy of such moment completely overwhelmed her.

It felt like she was finally going to live her life with such a full and clear path.
